Having seen previous reviews about the view from certain rooms, I contacted the hotel prior to arriving to ensure I did not get a room with no view!! However, because I had paid for an upgraded room, I had to have one of the most awful balconies you could ever expect to get on holiday. The view was of a brick wall, soil and tree roots, with people walking past above you and looking down into the room. Although I refused the room initially, I was told the hotel was full for the next 2 days and we could then move. I accepted this, foolishly. The room offered 2 days later was not where we had been told it would be, but with a view of the backs of restaurants, and half the size of the original room (that I had paid extra for!!). Not happy with the hotel, or with Thomson Holidays, would not stay here again. To give a balanced view, if a balcony doesn't worry you, then the hotel would be fine. But, as we enjoy watching the sun go down, with a drink on the balcony prior to our evening meal, this to us was disastrous!!

Room Tip: Do not pay for upgrade unless you don't want to sit on your balcony.

Just back from this hotel, went before 10 years ago, much the same but now ready for updating as rooms very plain and old fashioned. Reception area spoilt now the plants have gone. Dinning room very busy some had to wait for a table, as there was 7 in our party we asked if they could reserve a table for us, this only happened once so some times had to sit apart or right at the back of the room. Sun beds VERY uncomfortable but there is plenty of them but still need to go down early to put your towel on them. The best thing about this hotel is the location and food very plentiful if somewhat cold sometimes. We would go here again as we think it has more good points than bad.

Went here for family holiday, 6adults+infant, celebrating birthdays. Room allocation poor, placed on ground floor behind bar initially, very dark and gloomy, although did get one room changed to floor 4 on 2nd day which was much better for us. Very large busy hotel, but staff always pleasant and helpful. Very impressive hotel facade, always clean, particularly rooms. Although dining room was very busy, never had to wait long for a table and the food was good and plentiful, with adequate variety. Staff were brilliantly efficient in clearing and re-setting tables, maybe sometimes too efficient, it wasn't a good idea to leave table empty at any time, it could get cleared! The pool area was too cramped for size of hotel, but beach just across promenade so wasnt really a problem for us and we prefer to swim in the sea anyway, which was just as well, because pools too small for swimming! Main gripe would have to be the price of extras ie wifi, fridge, safe and particularly drinks in the restaurant.

Room Tip: Go for a high room, gives a pleasant view.

we had a lovely holiday here for a week, our room was clean nice touches when we went back to room animals out of our towels, or fancy patterns done out of bedding.
bath old and had to climb in to turn shower on, good power from the shower on 3rd floor.
our room looked on to next hotel and tennis court, then if you looked right great view pool and sea front.
but we were out very day, great walks beautiful views around coast, very friendly people.
only down side pay for safe, fridge, and change of towels, and water at evening meal.
the dinning room was very busy, we were sat at out table and when we went back someone sitting there, also took my dinner plate while I put my knife and fork down,( great for a diet.)
the food was lovely the grilled fish and marinated salmon was great.
would have liked some fruit in the evening as starter, and not to be rushed eating your meal.
the pool area always full did not manager to get by the pool the whole week.
the staff at the hotel were all very friendly

My husband and I stayed at the Guayarmina Princess for 2 weeks from 13th September 2013 and on arrival the hotel looked amazing.

We arrived at the hotel around 11pm and found that check in was very slow and it seemed to take ages to check people into their rooms even though there were 3 receptionists on duty however on a positive note our bags were delivered to our room very quickly by the porters.

When booking our holiday through Thomsons we asked for a high floor with a pool view - on waking up the following morning not only were we on the top floor as requested but we had a pool view, sea view and also views of Puerto Colon which exceeded our expectations.

The hotel was spotless and the food was very good though after 2 weeks it did get a bit montonous especially seeing the day befores left overs turned into a stew etc.

Like a few people have said, you do have to pay for a fridge which we did do purely for chilling our water etc but I cannot understand why you have to pay for it when it is already in your room.

Again like a few people have said already - you have to pay for everything so I would not consider this to be a 4 Star Hotel either.

The location is great - right on the beach with a lift to take you down to the promenade.

The thing which let us down through no fault of the hotel or the reps was the weather. We stayed for 2 weeks and did not have a full days sunshine even though it was warm.

Whilst we enjoyed our holiday - we wouldn't return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Beware that they charge for everything and request a floor that is facing Puerto Colon - it is lovely watching the boats go in and out of the harbour.
