We have just returned from a week's stay at La Plantacion which we found to be a pleasant enough stay. However, from the contents of other reviews I'm inclined to think we may have been lucky in some ways. We booked a junior suite and got a top floor room overlooking the sea. As other reviewers have already mentioned, the room was top class - furnished to 5-star standards. However, much of the rest of what is on offer is very distinctly 4-star.
The breakfast buffet is generous but it's not 5-star and it's the simple things they're missing. For instance, we gave up drinking tea for breakfast because we couldn't get a pot of hot water. I know it's not the end of the world but how hard can it be?
The grounds and pools are impeccably maintained, however the poolside area got quite crowded on sunny afternoons. The one heated pool gets a bit crowded too. The lunch menu at the poolside restaurant is very basic but there is no alternative unless you pack up your belongings and head out of the hotel to one of the local restaurants. Also, as mentioned by another reviewer, a waiter service for the pool area would be a great enhancement.
Our booking was for B&B only and judging by reviews of the dinner buffet this was the better choice. Thankfully there are some very good restaurants within a few minutes taxi ride.
The staff in the hotel were extremely pleasant. They will recommend and book restaurants and order taxis willingly. They could not be more helpful. It's just a shame there aren't more of them!
Overall, we were largely underwhelmed by a rather average experience despite the quality of the premises and the best efforts of the staff.
Been there, done that and one trip will be enough.

The hotel is very impressive and tastefully decorated. It sits at the top of a hill and has the best views of all the hotels in La Caleta. Unfortunately being on the top of a hill means a steep climb back up when you've been down to the beach/supermarket/dinner! I would not recommend this hotel to people with children (unless they intend on never going out) or people in a wheelchair. There is a hotel minbus but I didn't see it once and we were there for a week. The rooms are very nice, large with great bathrooms, we stayed in a superior deluxe with seaview though it turns out every room has a seaview so don't think you are paying extra for that! The pool area is great but as everyone keeps mentioning, the pools apart from the heated pool are far too cold to go into. They were not used once including the baby pool which is a shame as we were there with our son and it was too cold to take him in there. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, fruit bar, cereals, breads/rolls, three types of caviar, freshly squeezed juices,a variety of fried foods (including some made to order), pancakes, pastries you name it. There was definitely plenty to eat! We had the evening buffet twice, it was lovely sitting outside for dinner and again there was a lot of choice though the food wasn't as good as at breakfast. We can recommend a good restaurant which is situated in front of the Bahia called La Torre del Mirador. You need to book at week-ends, it does a great fillet steak and seafood and is right on the sea front. They have live music every night and the food and service is excellent. There is a Spar Supermarket within approx. 20 min walk. This stocked a good range of items. There is another supermarket the opposite direction (down the hill towards the Sheraton) but this did not stock as good a range.
All the staff at the hotel were great, especially the breakfast staff, reception and Hussein who currently runs the different exercise programs during the day, I did the aqua aerobics and body & condiitioning and would recommend both - they were a lot of fun!
As everyone has also mentioned, there is a lack of staff at this hotel and I would therefore rate it four star, not five. It looks like a five star hotel but is missing the service you would expect.
We were after a relaxing weeks holiday in the sun with our young son and this is what we got, we loved it but next time would stay at a hotel on the sea front purely because the walking was just too much and the service could have been better. We both certainly felt a lot fitter from it though!

Stayed here last week and although the rooms, grounds, pool areas are all fantastic they can't take away from the poor service received at this hotel. I do not for 1 minute believe that there are problems with the staff but do believe that there is a significant lack of staff meaning guests are left waiting to be served continually. Not what you expect from a 5 Star hotel.

Firstly the bar and eating area at the pool are no where near big enough for the number of guests at the hotel. The lunchtime menu is poor and it takes an age to be served. It can take staff several minutes to clear and re-set dirty tables and usually you need to ask for basics such as a butter knife and sideplate. There are no pool boys/girls meaning everytime you need a drink of water, you need to get dressed and walk to the bar and wait to be served.

If you are booked to stay at this hotel, what ever you do, do not eat at the evening buffet. This is 40 euro per person, self serve, motoway service station rubbish.

Breakfast is buffet style and on initial inspection looked good however, coffee was usually cold, the juice machines empty and the food usually looked as if it had been sitting for days. They do have a hot plate on the go for eggs and pancakes though.

There is no bar inside the hotel until one of the seating areas is opened with a small bar after dinner. This was used in the evenings for some entertainment as the Jazz bar was not open. The poolside bar closes as 6.30 pm meaning there is nowhere to go for a pre-dinner drink.

The Spa although very clean and spacious offers limited treatments. Ladies, please be warned that many of the therapists are male and expect you to lie in only your pants. I was shocked by this and my therapist offended so be sure to ask for a female therapist and also mention that you wish to have your modesty respected at all times.

Room service is also poor and very expensive.

The rooms are however beautiful. Make sure you ask for a room overlooking the pool area or you will have an enclosed balcony over the dual carriageway.

During our week long stay, many guests made complaints however, these fell on deaf ears by the management. it is a shame as the staff we encountered were trying very very hard.

The hotel is at the top of a hill and although the access for the elderly and people with disabilities within the hotel is good, you will need to take taxis if you want to get out and about. Downhill is easy enough but very steep coming back up the hill.

I wouldn't stay again. The other 5 star hotels in the local area seem to have better reviews and are along the beach front with easier access to local restaurants/bars.

This hotel was booked for us by a specialised travel agent for us to take our son, who uses a wheelchair. Fortunately we went to Tenerife on our own before we took our son. We visited the hotel twice as we couldnt believe it the first time, how can you possibly take a disabled person to this hotel, they wouldnt be able to go outside. We lost our deposit as we cancelled as soon as we came back, but I think it was worth it, we will not be using the "specialised" travel agent again, this was false advertising. The area around the hotel is still being constructed in parts, the hills around the hotel are very steep, imagine that in June, trying to get a wheelchair up those hills!! You would need accessible taxis all the time to go out, not my idea of a holiday at all.

The hotel itself is beautiful - very tastefully decorated and modern. Our room was a standard twin which was well appointed and spacious. There is plenty of storage, a flat screen tv, couch, balcony with reclining chairs etc etc. The bathroom was huge with a bathtub, his/hers sinks and a separate toilet and shower. I particularly liked the shower in that you could either use the large rain shower, the power shower or the jets or put them all on at once!! The room was kept beautifully clean by the maids. We were also given two complimentary half bottles of wine in our room on arrival which was a nice touch.

The hotel is at the top of a hill but is only a 15 minute walk down to the beach/restaurants/shops etc however coming back up, the hill is very steep and could be hard going in the heat of the day.
The weather whilst we stayed was much warmer than I thought it would be - hot and sunny every day! Although I would recommend taking a cardigan or jumper for the evenings as it can get cooler.

I would agree with other reviewers in that there were a few problems as regards service at the hotel. Being at the top of a hill, most days we ate lunch at the hotel's pool snack bar. This could be extremely busy and I found the lunch menu very limited with not much choice. There was however plenty of choice at the buffet breakfast although there were problems with running out of milk, plates etc. Although the staff always seemed to be busy and rushing about, there wasn't enough of them which meant that tables/plates were not cleared quickly enough and we were not given the intimate, friendly service we expect from a 5 star hotel. In addition, I don't think I ever sat down a properly laid table ie there was always a teaspoon missing, no side plate etc.

The pool area was beautiful however the pools themselves were freezing cold! A poolside drinks service would perhaps also be an idea? There was also an issue with people putting towels down on sunbeds which I wasn't expecting people to do in a "5 star" hotel.

Personally, I would have said this hotel was more 4 star than 5 compared to other 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Compared to other hotels in Tenerife it is very nice and luxurious however the service whilst okay, wasn't fabulous which I think lets the hotel down and the little touches that you expect from 5 star just weren't there.

Got a great deal on luxurylink for 2 packages that included 2 meals in gourmet restaurant and spa credits.
I emailed the hotel asking for high floor front seaview rooms.
We were allocated rooms on ground floor with no seaview unless you went into the garden and turned your head.
Very annoyed as its very important to my holiday.
This was Thursday and they said they couldn't move me until Monday.
Monday came and no room change. They broke their word.
Gourmet restaurant served banana with fois gras and the toast only glanced at the toaster and was cold. There was only ourselves in the restaurant so it wasn't due to pressure !!
We only went back because we had another meal there included. I have to say food better second visit.
The first night the waiter had told us we could only choose from 2 things...the second night we chose what we wanted !!
I confirmed with reception that these meals wouldn't appear on our bill...they did.
The pay TV was broken 6 days out of 7 so our kids had nothing to watch in English. They promised to fix it but didn't.
My spa facial was done by a girl who smoked while I relaxed and then with unwashed hands massaged my face.Very unpleasant.
The rooms and general decor were in great taste but with one barman manning 3 bars, all on different levels the service was appalling. The jazz bar I'd been looking forward to wasn't open once !
Buffet breakfast was good and no service problems but buffet dinner was poor and far too expensive.20 euros each for 4 and 6 year olds that eat a few chips and icecream ! There was nothing suitable for kids on room service menu either so we had to take them out at night and they ended up sleeping !!
The kids club was great however so no complaints there.
All in all they need to get their act together.Everyone we spoke to complained about service. If I hadn't got such a good deal I'd have been livid.
Oh, last day after they confirmed my transfer for 6am they rang at 5.30am to say the taxi had been waiting for 20 mins ! Pathetic..

We have just returned from a fabulous week in one of the villas with private rooftop terrace and jacuzzi at Le Plantacion Hotel, and can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday, where chilling out is their top priority.
The hotel is on a hill overlooking Bahia Del Ducque and Costa Adeje with great views of La Gomera and the very best Sunsets.
We found all of the staff to be extremely polite and courteous, with excellent English and other language skills.
The accomodation and public areas are very contemporary and stylish.
The Pool areas and Spas are absolutely divine.
The Bars are quiet and there is no lively entertainment in the hotel, so its not suitable for those looking for a great nightlife.
But ideal for a romantic break or honeymooners.
Only thing requiring improvement is the food, not enough choice on either the Pool bar or Gourmet Restaurant Menus.
The healthy option breakfast on the room service menu is fantastic, and well worth the extra 5 euros.
It is a lovely stroll to La Caleta, where there is an abundance of fresh seafood restaurants by the harbour, and well worth the effort.
We shall definitely return to La Plantacion again, and can highly recommend it.
