“Terrible Experience”
Reviewed 26 January 2014

On arrival on 12th January it took us 30 minutes to get into our room as the key card failed to work on numerous occasions. The Bar, Restaurant, Snack bar is all the same small location with plastic furniture and plastic glasses. We were asked to leave the dinning area at 9pm so staff could clean that area so from 9pm had to sit outside on a chilly night as there is no bar seating area inside. Then at 11pm informed that the bar is closed so " You Must Go To Bed". At the age of 47 being told to go to bed by hotel staff was a joke. We witnessed on the first evening the chef taking steaks off the servery and place them on the griddle to re-heat them before placing them back on the servery. During our 7 day stay we ate only sandwiches and even then had to be choosey of what filling we had such as jam or cheese and onion, we had to hand the onion container to the head waiter as the were off. Seems all they do is top it up when needed to do so. The salad bar is out from 11.30am ready to eat at 1pm them left out till 9pm before going in the fridges for the next day.
There is no requirement to get dressed for your evening meal as its just a CAFE. All drinks are in plastic cups. If you are all inclusive your food and drink stop at 11am the day of your departure, so could have to hang around for 6 hours as we did without refreshments unless purchased for that day from the hotel. There is no facility to keep your room on for those hours or even facilities to be allowed to freshen up before pick up for your journey home. Luggage storage is available, but not secure as key is given out to anyone who asks for it. It is also not in view of the reception staff, so anyone could tamper with your luggage as it is not checked in or out.
Improvements needed to endorse All Inclusive package such as separate restaurant and a bar area with seating area indoors. Most of all a vast improvement on the food.
I would only recommend this hotel for self catering only, as the rooms are adequate and the sun deck area is good, with great views of Adeje.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views.

This winter, we took a week off from the Northern European winter and flew to Tenerife. Flights were cheap during the first full week of January but it was not easy to find an accommodation on the south side of the island. Eventually, the Apartotel Panoramica in Adeje seemed to be a good choice. While there were cheaper accommodations available, the hotel appealed to us because of the large rooms, its relative closeness to the TF-1 highway and the great views described by other travelers.

Great Views:
It turned out that not all rooms have a great view on the ocean. There are many apartments that do but there are also many that do not. When booking the apartment online, we had specifically asked to get a room with a good view even if it meant longer walks to the room but we received one of the worst rooms in that regard. Be aware that most of the lower level rooms (room numbers 1xx) have limited vistas. The more expensive ‘studios’ on the upper level (room numbers 2xx) seem to be much better in that respect.

Rooms:
Aside from the already discussed topic of the view, the rooms are very spacious and equipped with modern furniture. Also, the bathroom is large and nice. The kitchen equipment was acceptable, but it seems that there is no consistency in the items that should be in the room. When we switched rooms (same type), we had to take the teapot with us because the new room did not have one. Also, the number of plates, glasses, etc. varied significantly between the two rooms.
The rooms on the ground floor (1xx) do not have privacy because the walkways between the apartments pass right in front of the small deck belonging to the apartment and people can look inside through the large glass windows unless you close the curtains.
During our stay, we had an issue with the door lock. We found out on day two that it wasn’t working most of the time, as it would allow entry just by pressing the door handle even if the door had been closed with the keycard. The problem was halfway fixed by a technician that day but returned two days later. A different technician found a defect with the lock but since there was no replacement mechanism available, we switched to a different room that night (which finally had a better view).

Cleanliness:
Our rooms were reasonably well cleaned, even though we found some hair in the shower sink when we arrived, the sink was a bit clogged and we had one single cockroach in the second apartment. This was not enough to us for complain but other people may be more picky. Other than that, everything was fine. For our standards, the overall cleanliness was perfectly acceptable.

WiFi:
Our initial room was on one end of the complex. While we would have a signal in the room when standing right next to the window, there would only be a stable connection when we walked 10m out on the deck towards the antenna located at the entrance of the hotel complex. The issue was present on all three devices that we had with us (iPad, netbook, Android phone).
One of the technicians acknowledged that our problems with the WiFi connectivity were caused by the poor signal level on our location. When we later switched to a different room in the center of the complex, the situation was better but still, WiFi was spotty inside the apartment. An electrical fire took out the WiFi completely one day but at least, the problem was resolved the next afternoon.

Parking:
During our stay, there always was a spot in the free parking garage. The parking spots drawn on the ground are ridiculously narrow which is why everyone uses two spots which is the space between two columns of the garage. We found it to be very comfortable not having to worry about a parking spot when returning from a trip.

Staff:
Staff was friendly and spoke good English and/or German. They were trying to help with the issue of the non-view but only due to other circumstances (door lock malfunctioning) were we eventually given a room with a better view when our stay was almost over.

Value / Conclusion:
Overall we received an acceptable value. The hotel was not cheap but not expensive either. Maybe, we had been expecting too much based on previous reviews of the place. Especially the issues of the view and the poor WiFi connectivity lead us to award only three stars even though the rooms are large, nice and the place is a great starting point for tours if you have a rental car. We would consider the Apartotel Panoramica again but make sure directly with the hotel before arrival that we get the room we want.

Other:
Our rental Citroen C4 was broken into on day 2 near Vilaflor in the mountains within 15 minutes after parking at a sparsely populated car park. The thieves used a tool to enter (leaving only a minimal mark on the lock) and it must have been easy and quick for them to do so. When waiting at the police to report, we met several other travelers having had similar issues. Even though everything appears peaceful on the island, especially in the mountains, there are organized gangs operating all over the island.
Recommendation: Put anything valuable that you do not really need in the hotel safe, never leave anything visible in the car, even when parking only for a few minutes, even in seemingly remote areas. Most rental cars on the islands have minimal theft protection, so consider your car open to the bad guys

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms may not have a good view.

We stayed here over the christmas break. Arrived at 11pm had to find our own way to the room as the man in reception said he was on his own so couldnt help. Room was spacious clean and practical. Next morning went down for breakfast as was not all inclusive had to pay 20 euros each for breakfast. The breakfast was ok considering it was buffet style so decided to stay for lunch and again for evening meal. Absolutely appalling discusting buffet for both lunch and evening meal. Not much choice, dry, low quality cheaply made food. So glad we did not stay all inclusive. The staff make no effort with the food at all. Decided to go into town every day for meals as much cheaper and amazing quality from the different resturants on offer. The hotel has amazing views but a taxi need to get back from the town but ok to walk 20 mins there. Also found the staff very rude and obnxious when i wanted something. Also very Disappointed with Thomas Cook. They do not vist this hotel at all and do not phone/email/fax to see if we are ok or want anything had to contact them over the phone and even then they gave out the wrong information. All other travel reps visited this hotel and the guests. Will not be going back to this hotel or booking through Thomas Cook again.

Family trip to celebrate the new year in style..

Reception :-
upon arrival was greeted by a majestic property cut in the side of the hill, as high as you can go!, after being dropped off by the transfer bus, we were greeted to a access ramp. No sign of any staff to help with the bags or offer directions, made our way to reception, it looked very impressive as you walk down the ramp over looking the sun decks and pools. Upon checking in we were instructed to wear a bright orange wristband to identify 'all inclusive', a quick chat, the chap on reception, who did speak good English, asked for some assistance with bags, he promptly replied 'No' and pointed down the corridor to the rooms. Not the best start. It did have a very limited shop for a few basics such as beer, crisps, milk etc.. no badly priced about €1.35 for a mini can of beer. You also can book your free transfers here too, to either the Market, sister hotel Columbus or Sian Park, but PLEASE check and re-confirm that they have booked you on to the right time slot and destination, as they have no regard or care, if you miss it or they put you down for the wrong coach and will NOT help to put it right either, even charge €0.50 you to call a taxi. They do have a luggage storage room if you check out and have a later flight home. It also has a toilet in here too to change in the travel clothes. The reception does not change currency!!!

Rooms :-
After a little jaunt, found our rooms and upon initial perceptions found them very spacious and clean and presented very well. Towels and shower accessories were thrown in, which I felt was a nice little touch. Strange though as it was a family room (4) we only had 3 of everything, cups, plates etc. however, no big issues as we are all inclusive. The rooms had aircon but you needed to pay €20 as a deposit for controller (reception wont offer this, need to ask). also had a nice 32" flat TV, had BBC1, BBC2, CBBC, Ch4 and Film 4 in English to watch and keep the kids entertained whilst getting ready, again no remote, need another €20 deposit for this, again you will need to ASK the reception will not offer, but the controls of the LG TV are on the lower right side for its use. The room also has a safe, mounted in the wardrobe, key from reception, for only €25 for each week, but you get €10 back upon safe return of the key. The rooms had x2 single beds in the bedroom and a sofa-bed in the living/kitchen area, both rooms were very spacious, but we noticed our clothes & bed lined were very damp, borrowed a thermometer/moisture level to find out its about 90% humidity in the rooms with plaster peeling of the walls due to the damp in the bedrooms, even with the windows and patio doors left open. be-warned if you have any chest complaints. Nice view from the balcony, no issues here, it has a table and 4 chairs and a towel rail. check out is no later than 1100.

Pools / Sun decks :-
Clean and well serviced, even has a life guard, as it wasn't busy when we were there he kept all the littler and kept it constantly swept.
There are 3 pools, a small one for the kids, and larger one for approx. 1.55m deep for all and another small one which has bubbles which can be switched on/off by anyone, kids loved this again only shallow approx. 18" deep.
The hotel has a strict no sun bed reservations, signs everywhere, however this is totally ignored and as this hotel is not limited to a single nationality, different customs and attitudes prevail.

Restaurant - Food :-
Breakfast 0730 - 1000 and served in a buffet style with usual continental style and cooked breakfast, same every day but a good choice and a coffee/tea machine located nearby.
Lunch 1300 - 1500 again served buffet style and best tip is to avoid the first rush as the food has been left on there hot plates for a while. after the initial rush they restock from the kitchen.
Dinner 1830 - 2100 also served as above, not too much choice, as we were only there for a week, not too much of an issue with repetition, but got very 'samey' after 3-4 days. We did find it of good quality and enough for all, regardless of time attending the restaurant.
Bar 1000 - 2300 ish, sometimes earlier, help yourself to a plastic cup and all the liquid your heart desires, such as, a local lager beer, wines, to cola and sprite some of the local liquors are all included but anything mainstream or water.. you have to pay for at the bar. Just a point to note, we went to celebrate the new year in but the bar closes at 2300 or earlier.. no signs or warnings! caught a few guests out and as there are no shops/bars local its a taxi ride away (or a 30min walk)!

Location:-
as its at the very top of Costa Adeje, with little around it other than residential properties the town is about a 30-40min stroll (down hill) or €5-6 each way (upto 4 passengers) then a further €1.75 is added for luggage or extra passengers, which I though thought was reasonable. there are no local shops or mini markets and attractions are a short taxi ride away. we found with children to walk to the town and taxi back. but please note the roads are steep and not for the faint hearted or with a medical condition.
The views are very good... flawless.

Summary :-
Good bits, Views, spacious rooms, pools, clean, food.
Bad bits, location, hotel reception staff's lack of customer service, damp rooms, small sunbed area.

Important to note,
If you have an evening flight, you are still required to check out at 1100 as expected and leave your cases in the storage area, the hotel will remove your writsbands upon checkout, thus you will have to pay for ALL food and drinks at the bar or reception prior to consumption. You can have a room if they have one, for late check out for a mere €30 but you will still need to but your
food and drink but you can use the pools/sunbeds.

Would I recommend or return? No, sorry, damp, location & reception's attitude decided for me.

Hope you have a good holiday though and find this useful.

Room Tip: All rooms have a good view, from what I could see.

Stayed here for a week over Christmas. The apartment was spacious and immaculate and this was maintained by really helpful cleaning staff. The pool area was clean with plenty of sunbeds and the no reserving sunbeds rule was respected. We had bed and breakfast only and found the breakfast fine- there was plenty of choice. The staff were helpful and pleasant and our request for more more pillows was sorted immediately. It is really quiet and you do need to take taxis to get to Las Americas if you have small children but taxis are cheap. We read the reviews beforehand and liked what we saw- it is not a place for people who want to be entertained, nor is it a place for those who expect Blackpool in the sun. The food reflects the multi-national clientele- when we stayed here there were Finns, Swedes, Norwegians, French and Spanish guests as well as Brits. Most guests including us just wanted to relax and read by the pool in a quiet and pleasant environment. If you want nightlife this would not be your cup of tea but for a relaxing holiday with children who are happy to speand most of the day in the pool, this is ideal. We will definitey return!

Room Tip: Rooms in the 200s are ideal if you have small children- quiet as they are away from the pool but the...

Big apartment with plenty of space, it's really like a small house. The area is very quiet which was exactly what we were looking for.
A car is a must if you stay in this hotel, as it will give you much more freedom. With the car you can be very quickly in any of the tourist areas where the restaurants and night life are located.
The only thing I disliked was the room service. Very average/badly done. They didn't clean the floors properly and didn't add new soap. We had to complain in reception to have a proper cleaning, which they did afterwards. In the reception they confirmed that were two days in the week where no room service was provided, which doesn't make any sense at all. Big room for improvement here.
For the rest, great place, nice swimming pool and great views.

Hi, firstly the views were amazing when we arrived we we're gob smacked at the size of the rooms, the views, the hill we thought omg what a track but because nobody told us about the courtesy bus we walked up and down it for the first 5 days of our holiday !! The hotel staff are lazy, selfish and ignorant, the flies were horrendous don't know how people can say it's not that bad it is disgusting would you eat like that in the uk, wouldn't mind if I would have paid something like £500 for me and partner to stay here then maybe it would have been acceptable no we paid nearly £1500 and what a sham!!! We'll while we we're there we came back to the hotel after visiting Loro park, a lady was crying and shouting she had had her bag stolen with her personal belonging in it anyway we stopped to talk to her, we'll it wasn't nice hearing this on my birthday, we went about our business as the day went by, anyway let me get this in we paid 40euros for a safe so all my stuff was in the safe! We'll 4 days after speaking to this women did the same happen to us , but ...... We was asleep while they crept around us taking our safe key ( which should be coded this might stop all the creepings) emptying or safe ! We woke up the next morning they had taken my passport !! My iPad, iPhone, flight tickets all money, my ring( which I inherited of my grandma who died 11 months ago) everything !! Evil !! We told the hotel staff who looked at us clueless ! They eventually called the police who again just looked at us clueless!! No one was helping us in the uk the police would take fingerprints, let me just say if your not Spanish they don't care !! The security well all you got do is think on This one if they were that much cop! Somebody wouldn't haven't been in my room that night !!! Asked for my 40euros back for the safe as it didn't keep anything safe ! They more aless told me no and might as well laughed in my face, apparently it's the morrocans but to be quite frank I also thinks it's something to with the hotel ! How can they get pasts all the staff without being seen and to not have cameras near out room (423) it's a sham and a joke, need to change the safe from keys to codes !!!! And brush up on your customer skills LAZY, IGNORANT AND SELFISH !!! Please this is a warning do not stay here it isn't safe !!!
