“Absolutely Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

This was my second visit to Mykonos and for this trip I decided to find a hotel in Mykonos Town. The reviews were somewhat mixed but the occupancy rate tells the truth...fully booked for the next two months. The Poseidon Hotel is fantastic. The rooms, the views, the service and location are perfect...and the price is very reasonable for what you get. I highly recommend the Poseidon. I am sure you will love it whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, with family or friends. Enjoy...

Hotel excellent. Large airy bedroom with lovely bathroom and patio. Breakfasts delicious. Great location. Would go back tomorrow if I could! Easy walking distant to little Venice and all the great shops. Lovely relaxing pool and bar food. It was a perfect choice for my adult daughter and me.

The location is very convinient, just 1 minute walk to the main bus stop, shops and restaurants. Our room(standard plus) was in great shape with newly renovated bathroom and beautiful design. The pool was clean and relaxing with friendly and fun bartenders who make delicious cocktails. Free transportation from the port.

We spent six nights at Poseidon Hotel in early July 2014. The hotel is perfectly located on the edge of town just a five minute walk into the heart of Mykonos' buzz, yet totally tranquil. Also, you are very close to the bus station and many ATV and car rental agencies, literally next door to the hotel (Apollon Rentals has a website if you want to reserve in advance, but this did not seem necessary). We had a Plus Room, which was very tastefully decorated, with soft sheets and a plush bed, nice tiled floors, ample shower and bathroom that was new and clean, mini fridge, good A/C. The WiFi signal seem to come in fine inside the room, however the speed most of the time was slow, may be 1-3Mbps, a bit better in the late evening. The pool area was large and very nice with a good number of beds and umbrellas, excellent food and drink service from the bar, and convenient showers and WC downstairs. We actually changed rooms during our stay because we had requested an upper floor by email several times, though upon arrival we were given a bottom floor. Two days in we took room #123, which had a more spacious terrace than the typical small Juliette balcony in many of the other rooms, and a full view of the sea, windmills and sunset. We can't say enough good things about Stabrula and Lina at the reception desk for reassigning our room and not minding at all, and for being very helpful with making dinner reservations. We found the level of service and professionalism of the hotel staff to be of pretty high calibre. In fact, while in our first room we noticed the air conditioning wasn't cooling well, we mentioned it to the front desk, we ran off to the beach during the day, and upon our return the problem was fixed and the room was perfectly cooled down (very nice surprise opening the door after a day in the sun). The breakfast was also pretty good with a full spread of eggs, meats, fruits, breads, cereals, juices, coffee, etc. But hands down the biggest standout of the place was Tassos, the bartender at the pool bar. What an awesome guy!! We had a small cooler we filled with beers to take to the beach and Tassos kept us full with ice (why not rather tip Tassos than pay EUR 8 for two small bags of ice at the store, right?). My partner and I were craving a good seafood dinner and Tassos gave us the best recommendation - Johanna and Niko's Place just a 5 minute walk from the hotel opposite direction from town. YOU MUST EAT HERE!!! A characteristic taverna at the water's edge, we had a sunset dinner of salad and fava bean spread for appies, the grilled seafood platter for two, bottled water and a liter of house wine for around EUR 55 TOTAL. This was by far our best meal in two weeks in Greece, more authentic than the very over priced places in Mykonos town and for half the price. As for beaches, we visited Super Paradise and Elia (EUR 15-18 for two sun beds and umbrellas, food and drinks also very expensive), but the beach we went back to several times was Agios Sotsis on the northern end of the island. Agios Sotsis has a nude section at the far right end of the beach (as you face the water), is a very lovely undeveloped cove, with no beds/umbrellas for rental and no services at all, which we didn't care since we packed our own cooler and lunch, had already bought an umbrella in Santorini, and preferred a peaceful nude beach experience to the crowded boom-boom music scene of the other beaches. Overall I have to give the Poseidon a very enthusiastic two thumbs up!!! Thanks for the great memories Poseidon, we can't wait to come back.

I only stayed in this hotel for a night after a mishap occurred with my other hotel. The room was clean and pleasant. The breakfast was also delicious. It is located in Mykonos town which is perfect for walking around, especially at night. The pool was spacious and I enjoyed the pool beds as well. There was no actual designated beach, from what I could find, with direct access. I did walk down some steps and ended up on the shore with a bunch of rocks. There were only locals swimming on the other side but other than that it was empty and quiet and nice. Overall, I think the hotel is perfect enough for anybody looking for a not super expensive but still a satisfying place to stay at.
