“awesome hotel and stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2012

My wife and i stayed at the hotel at the beginning of August for a week, the hotel is a four star property with five star well staffed service., From the moment we were greeted and shown to our room, we were in paradise. All the staff were incredible,it felt as though we were just with friends, amazing service and recommendations of the concierges were on the spot.
Astonishing view, free wifi in the lobby, white and clean rooms.
thank you all for for a great time.

we just loved it! the location is perfect, it's a 5min walk from the main town, and far enough to enjoy a quiet and relaxed time (mykonos can be really crowded and noisy at night).
The staff is helpful and the setting is really nice! pool, room, lobby, view etc... everything was perfect!

would certainly recommend it :)

Only staying in Mykonos, I wanted to make sure my boyfriend and I found somewhere central, nice, clean and with great views. That we found, but we also came across with Porto mykonos team , where are amazing hosts.
Having managed hotels for 2 years, i know how important customer service is at Porto Mykonos, they went above and beyond for us.
The terrace of the breakfast area is amazing and the view is spectacular, the entire hotel is clean and white as the whole island.
The room was clean, comfortable and practical with a private balcony.
We will definately be back...

Unreasonably high the price to pay just for the view. The staff was polite and the view beautiful, but it was annoying to pay so much and receive such a poor quality product-service! Main negative issues: The A/C was disgustingly dirty inside and was not functioning properly. The room and the public facilities were not cleaned and maintained properly; there was mold on the bathroom walls, the furniture and walls needed painting, or to be fixed, the materials used were of low quality, and the breakfast was just basic. The expected standards according to the price were not met. Have to admit though that the Mykonos island is too expensive without being such a special place for holidays.

This hotel DOES NOT live up to the website. It is NOT A LUXURY RESORT, far from it and needs an overhaul. The grounds were not kept clean and the rooms were dark, dingy and unclean. They should be ashamed to offer some of their rooms for sale. It was a disappointing experience. I would not recommend the windmill.

After reading some bad reviews, but many good ones, we decided to stay here for 4 nights in July 2012 with our family of 5 and my mother and my father-in-law. We booked a Suite and a Greek Sea View Room.

The Rooms

On arrival we were greeted with a refreshment and asked to wait in the foyer. I remember seeing lovely images of this on the website, but now it looks tired and dirty - hardly recognisable. We were then told we had been 'upgraded to their premier suite' which was in the windmill. Whilst I had looked at booking this, I couldn't find any photos or reviews on it and so decided to book 2 rooms next to one another so we could have all our family together.

The other suite they showed us was way over on the other side of the resort, about as far as you could go - up stairs past the pool, down stairs on the other side, around corners and to the end. Whilst this room was very nice, it was way too far from the windmill and wasn't really suitable to be so far apart as we were on a family holiday.

They showed us the only other room available which was actually below the windmill. Honestly they should be ashamed of this room - it was absolutely awful. If the first room was 4 star, this was less than a 1 star. I was embarrassed to be putting my mother and my father-in-law in this room it was so bad - dark, dingy, 3 small single beds hardly suitable for teenagers, no view whatsoever (and it was meant to be a Greek Sea View Room) & a small unclean bathroom with no shower curtain. At 308 euros per night (special 15% off package), this was embarrassing. My husband and I went back to the windmill to settle in.

The Windmill

The ground floor consisted of seating along one side and a staircase on the other. There was no window with views, you had to go outside for this. It felt a little claustrophobic and insular. The whole idea of going to the Greek Islands is to sit and enjoy a lovely view - you did not have this.

There was also a small bathroom with no shower curtain. I don't think anyone had ever stayed here or hadn't stayed here for such a long time because once the toilet was flushed there was a dreadful, gut-wrenching horrible smell coming from the bathroom. It was so bad we couldn't sit inside for more than a couple of minutes as it made you feel nauseous.

The next floor up had a double bed, and the top floor had 2 singles pushed together, each with bedside tables - that is it. Each floor had a small window.

Whilst I appreciate the minimalistic Greek style furnishing, there was nowhere to put anything. We ended up leaving our suitcases on the ground floor as the stairs were a bit scary carrying up the heavy cases. If you needed to go to the toilet in the middle of the night you had to brave the stairs. This isn't good for children or grown-ups!

We decided to speak to reception as we just weren't happy. They said they could find us 2 rooms close together but not until the next day & would send house-keeping down about the smell. We sat outside and waited while house-keeping sauntered down with a can of air freshener and sprayed the bathroom, barely masking the smell. I think they really needed a plumber. Once the shower was run the next day however, it seemed to flush through the pipes a little. I still would not have stayed here another night even if they said it was for free.

We moved to the other rooms which were a bit better, but still not great. We were over it by then and just wanted to start our holiday. What was a 5 day holiday, had turned into less than a 4 day, by the time we re-packed and moved again and unpacked.

The Grounds / Staff

The resort does overlook a carpark and the port, but it means it is close to town. Don't stay here if you want magic views. The grounds looked tired and dirty. Having come from Santorini where the resort we stayed at was meticulously cleaned every morning, this place was a real letdown. It doesn't take much to sweep up dead leaves all over the walkways to keep them looking tidy. Whilst Dora was very helpful in moving us, we would have preferred to be given the rooms we paid for in the first place. This would have avoided the whole problem in the first place.

Location

The only positive thing I will say is that it is central and easy access into town. This is one of the main reasons I chose this hotel so there wouldn't be any waiting for taxis to get back up the hill to our resort. It was a walk, up stairs or uphill, but not too bad really.

Overall

Overall I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT. It is a shame but it needs a total overhaul if it is going to live up to the standards of the website. It is CERTAINLY NOT A LUXURY HOTEL.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the windmill

Stayed from 13 to 20 July. Excellent location and breakfast. Staff superb. Rooms perhaps a little small and no bath. However we would return to this place and thoroughly recommend it. Great holiday!

We were greeted with a very warm welcome, We were shown to our room and our luggage arrived minutes later. The views from our room were brilliant. The staff couldn't have been more helpful everyone was so friendly and always had a smile. The lovely big sun beds by the pool were so comfortable and towels were provided. The rooms were cleaned every day and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean. This is a very peaceful and relaxing hotel for being in Town. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
