“First time for everything”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

After so many summers in Mykonos, this year we did something different.
After very stressful year, we decided to just relax in Mykonos instead of partying ( first signs of getting older:)). Belvedere was perfect choice.Close to Chora, but still pacefull , with excelent service and Nobu restaurant.
Place it's selfe is impressing. Classic Cycladic architecture , minimal design, with dash of luxury in everything. Entrance with battlers , reception desk with highly trained staff, dressed in specialy design uniforms that reminds you of Greek ancient clothes. it's obvious that here ,guests are treated like Gods.
Seating area decorated with LV and Channel bags on the shelves. Obviously, this is not place just to sleep and shower while on vacation.
Rooms, very basic, which is disappointing.Beds are great and pillows havenly soft and light.
Pool area, is beautifull, sunbeds looked comfy. We never used the pool , simply because we were out enjoying beautiful beaches.
The bar area, always busy.
Breakfast , basic (pies, tarts, cheese, ham, cruasants ,Greek yogurt, fresh fruits, olives,eggs...).
Nobu restaurant was excellent as always, loved the sushi.
The staff is extremely attentive , they will meet your needs in any possible way from booking the restaurants all over island to arranging taxi picking you up from the beach.
We had great time and we will be back again.
I would not recommend this hotel to families with young kids.

Thank you for sharing your opinion related to our hotel as well as the destination Mykonos. All your comments help us to become better and hopefully this winter we are going to be able to refresh the few remaining classic rooms in the hotel complex. Belvedere remains open till December 20th each year and reopens every February 15th each year. This very short time of non operating the unit- allow us time wise to restore only a few rooms. For your next reservation we will promote you a new generation room which is going for sure to fulfill your expectations.

I recently stayed at this hotel, i chose it because of the location and the fact it is cool as Nobu is a star feature as the food really is fab!...the windy and life threatening walk to town was always somewhat of a challenge...however, its the closest of all the hotels to mykonos town....the bar area is always buzzy....the sun beds are divine yet the pool is a few degrees too cold!!! i would stay here. but its pricey and they screw you at the end with added VAT. always always always check your bill as they nearly over charged us at nobu by 70 euros! cheeky!!

Room Tip: dont go for most basic room!!!

Dear visitor, thank you for sharing with us your opinion. Its going to be our honor to have you soon with us for another Matsuhisa tasting and we will try to explain you on the spot how the local law obliges us to seperate net cost and VAT on receipts that we issue and often visitors cannot clearly understand. It is obvious that our company fulfills all legal issues and I remain at your disposal for eventual face to face clearances on your paid bill. Nevetheless all comments we daily receive-including yours- are appreciated and make us become better

We stayed at the Belvedere for 7 nights and it was our first time in Mykonos. We loved the hotel, its service and the to-die for views and magical sunsets. The location of the hotel is just perfect, right in the middle of the town -- when you want it -- and away enough from the noise of the nightlife for complete relaxation. The food at both of their restaurants -- The Belvedere Club and MATSUHISA -- is simply the most delicious you can have. The staff and hotel's general manager were great and extremely attentive. We look forward to our next trip back to Mykonos and stay at the Belvedere.

We have been staying in Belvedere for the last 5 years and have been very happy. The minimalist outlook is backed up with great service. I cannot find anything to complain about but can say every year there is an improvement. If you want to be close to the town and yet seclude yourself from the wild chaos of Mykonos you can in Belvedere , best of both worlds. Going back in August again :)

It was very disappointing being at this hotel – especially given the higher price difference compared to other hotels in Mykonos.

While the service was just average, the facilities and basic operations of the hotel are in need of a major refresh. Light fixtures are generally dusty and show rust. The cushions around the pool are worn thru and chairs need replacement.

Given all the other hotel and restaurant opportunities around Mykonos-- at much better prices-- I would skip the Mykonos Belvedere.

Last stop of our vacation. Arrived to this beautiful hotel in the best location of Mykonos and was greeted by the GM. Learned the guest booked earlier in our room needed to stay an extra night so we were put up in the best room in the hotel. We'll definitely be back and look forward to staying in the Presidential Suite again.

We had the possibility to visit three different hotels in Mykonos, and certainly this was the worst of the three.

We had a warm welcome, and while our room was made ready we were offered to taste some breakfast. Very minimal choice of breakfast, and coming from other hotels, the extras were quite expensive too (espresso was 3,5 euro vs 2 euro elsewhere).

The hotel looked nice in the common areas, pity it did not have a pool (another big minus when compared to half price alternatives all with nice pools). We thought it was because it faced a lovely beach. We went check it out. The beach is indeed nice, but so full of sun beds, that you could smell the neighbor feet while staying there.. Not really exclusive, and e en here the cost is extra. 30 a day, including to hotel guests, that are already paying quite some money (to have what?).

Finally we had the option to see the room. A quite large room, with very minimal furnitures and inferiors finitures. The big disappointment was the lack of Internet connection in all rooms! I could not believe it. In 2013? While most hotels in the word offer good Internet connections, and one of the most expensive hotels in modern Mykonos (opened 1 month ago) had none?

Personally this was a big issue for me, as I work online and in the travel industry. I asked them alternatives, as I could not afford to stay without. I was only offered a 4 time more expensive room at the other belvedere, in the city. I did not want to spend that much, so I asked a way out of the deal. I was told I had to pay 100% of the 4 days stay. After a bit of negotiation, they agreed to let me go with the deposit of 270 euro.

I was able to find the third hotel of this years' Mykonos experience. The last disappointment was the rudeness I was treated while picking up our luggages, while leaving the hotel.

As I said I am in the travel industry and I am learning every day how important it is to look at problems with the guest's eyes.
Sometimes an issue that for us seems minimal, is a big issue for our guest and if that guest us important to us, we need to make an effort that goes beyon the usual. Grabbing those 270 euro will not make our word of mouth disappointment worth it for this hotel.

Thank you for sharing your valuable comments, which will be considered as good points - during the winter restoration of the hotel-that we took over only 4 moths ago.
