“The place to stay in Mykonos”
Reviewed 2 July 2014

Situated near the windmills, its ideally located near the city, restaurants and bars. The Manager and staff went out of their way to ensure that our stay was outstanding. The inhouse spa massages, view from our room and overall attentive service made this one of our best holidays. Would highly recommend that this is the only hotel to stay in to make Mykonos truly magical.

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms are excellent.

This hotel is more upscale than most other resorts on the island. Certainly you'll pay for the luxury, but it's worth it.

There is only 2 things that prevents me from giving this hotel a five star rating.

Firstly the front desk staff often seem to be overwhelmed with the amount of staff that they have work in on shift. Several times we needed assistance due to luggage being lost by the airline. Many promises were made (even when we insisted that we could take care of things ourselves) but the follow through seemed to never happen, or would take hours to do simple things such as drop off an amenity to the room.

Secondly, and this is the one that upsets me most, they were so stingy with basic amenities. This was especially disheartening after paying 400€ per night to stay here. Most gusts who stay here are couples, yet they put only 1 packet of regular coffee in the room for 2 guests, and you are very simply not allowed more, even when you ask. You are also not allowed to take coffee back to your room from breakfast. And most irritating is the water. Tap water on the island is not potable, so you need bottled water. They give you 1L of water per day (pending the maid remembers to restock your room with it) then they charge you 4.50 Euros for more! I get they need to charge for the bottle of water, but when every other vendor on the island charges 1 Euro, this is price gouging when your only option is bottled water. Shame on hotel management!

The rooms are modern and seem to be freshly painted and maintained. They look brand new. We had a one bedroom suite and it was very spacious with a large bathroom and a huge patio with a private cabana area.

Cleanliness was good, though the odd thing was missed here and there, but nothing that was significant.

Breakfast was included in the room and the hours of operation were convenient. Breakfast had a good selection and was kept fresh. Some of the hot items were not so hot, however. There was a fresh omelet the station available. Kelly, one of the servers in the restaurant was excellent.

The pool area was beautiful and comfortable and cabanas are available at no extra charge. The pool area can be quite busy after breakfast however, so a cabana may not always be available. I would encourage the resort to purchase additional CDs for the pool area though, as the same one was continuously looped for the whole 3 days of our visit. They also have reasonably priced spa services though we did not try them out.

The hotel provides complimentary transfers from the airport which is helpful.

Overall a nice and relaxing stay, just buy lots of coffee and water before you get here.

Dear Guest,

First of all we thank you for staying at the Mykonos Theoxenia and for posting your feedback online.

We are very pleased to hear that you spent a lovely and relaxing vacation in our superb property and that you deeply appreciated our spacious and modern room, as well as our cleanliness and beautiful pool area.

Concerning the Front Desk we are sorry if in certain times there was a heavy workload however this is not an excuse for delayed services. In regard to your lost luggage, we were calling the airline every day and we were giving the information received directly to you. Indeed the information was not accurate since the airline constantly said that the luggage will be delivered the following day.

You refer to an incident concerning an amenity and the only one that we can recall was when we asked if you needed something (toothbrush etc), and you requested a deodorant spray. At that moment we were very busy and when we saw you 90 minutes later we informed you that we are going to buy it for you; unfortunately you had already bought it yourselves. We do apologogize, we should have informed you in advance that there would be a delay as we were truly busy.

In regard to the food & beverage, we have made significant strides forward compared to last year. We have added coffee & tea facilities and one bottle of water (750 ml) per room, per day, complimentary in the rooms. In regards to the refills we have passed the message to our team to be more careful. Our overall policy is to allow guests to take the coffee from breakfast and we add, whenever necessary, additional tea and coffee portions in the room without extra charge. For examble three days ago, a guest asked for 8 English tea bags and we gave them without hesitation.
In your case, you asked for two bottles of cold water. The fact that we charge these and at the rates that we charge is within the common practice of all hotels, at least in Mykonos.
Moreover, in regards to coffee and tea facilities we provide one portion of each item to showcase our guests the variety we have. If we have to put two portions of each item then we should reduce the variety on offer and this is not in our intentions, especially when our policy is to provide additional items whenever asked. As for breakfast, we will follow up your remark but as yet we have never faced a similar problem.

Finally regarding the pool area, the music program we have is especially designed to avoid the same play lists. Some songs may be played twice but not in the same sequence. We have chosen lounge playlists for the hours of the pool and the comments so far were more than positive; following your comment though we will modify the playlist slightly in order to avoid disappointment again.

We thank you for bringing these few negatives to our attention and hope that our reply will satisfy you. We want our guests to receive the service they expected and we try our best to deliver that; nevertheless we are not perfect and your feedback will help us improve.

We are happy to know that you still had a most enjoyable and relaxing stay and hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again at the Mykonos Theoxenia.

Best regards,

The Management.

WE cannot praise this hotel enough. The staff were always amazing and attentive. We arrived to a room full of flower petals, a warm bath and sparkling wine and a fruit plate for our honeymoon stay. We were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. THe location is perfect for exploring the town with all the shops and restaurants at your doorstep.
I would go back to this hotel again anytime, and would love to right now! The pool is very relaxing with views of the sea and the landscaped gardens, which are rare on the island as it is a very arid climate. We were always given great advise for dining in town and the staff were always ready to help with reservation for food, or when we wanted to rent scooters to explore the island they had someone pick us up and take us to the rental site.
There was also complimentary shuttle service to and from the hotel.
All around great place, I cannot think of any negatives. The last two nights there had a great breeze and we were able to enjoy sleeping with the windows open. Perfect place for a vacation or a honeymoon.

The best place to stay in Mykonos. We believe it is better to stay in the town and rent a car or a quad to head to the beaches.
It is located just behind the windmills, walking distance to the town. The view is amazing. The access by car is easy and they have a parking. The best room to stay are the rooms with a sea view and not the more expensive one on the sea. There is a path just in front of the building and as a result of course you have a better view but they can be noisy at night.
The swimming pool is very nice. The hotel has been redecorated recently and I am really like the style. Eclectic 60's revisited, which is in fact much better in real life than on the website. It is fresh and clean with an interesting twist.
The staff is lovely like all the greek on the island.

This hotel is just perfect, the location is ideal, being a three minute walk to the central waterfront in Mykonos. The staff are very friendly and will do anything for you. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is ideal with lots of choice. The pool area is kept clean and there wasn't a problem getting a sunbed. If not for anything else, I would 100% stay at this hotel again based on location.
