“Great hotel - look no further.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2012

This hotel had been recommended by friends and after reviewing it on Trip Advisor we booked for a 14 night stay. Giannis collected us at the airport you know at once his welcome is guenuine and you are in good hands. The owners Giannis & Emmi welcomed us on arrival with a drink and a snack.

We were shown to our room, which was very clean and had all the essentials. We were lucky enough to be allocated a room which had a very large sunny balcony on the first floor. The rooms are equipped with a full fridge and if you like a drink in the morning just ask for a kettle and some cups. The room was cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis. The hotel has WiFi connection available throughout.

On the first evening Giannis asked us to have a complimentary drink and some nibbles including olives from his own garden, which are delicious.

The hotel is a short walk down a hill to the town, about ten minutes to the edge of town. The road is narrow and busy with no pavement and not too well light at night. A taxi is 5 euros and worth it for a quick safe journey home. Taxis are however few in number; The island only has just over 30 taxis, so you may have to wait at busy times, and be prepared to share with others.

The breakfast service is a low key affair they will do their best to accommodate any special requests. We had Greek salad a few times for lunch which is one of the best you will find with Giannis's own olive oil dressing.

There is a small but adequately stocked supermarket further up the hill from the hotel which stocks basis commoditise for every day needs.

One evening we had booked a table at an out of town restaurant, Giannis offered to take us, for which he would not accept payment. Just one off many offers of hospitality they gave us including figs and olives from the garden.

On a number of occasions we had drinks with the family. They offered us complimentary hors d’œuvre with the drinks, which were fresh and most inviting. They really did make you feel part of the family. Giannis, Emmi and their two adorable children, make you feel as if you are staying in their home rather than a hotel.

If you are looking for a small, friendly, good value, spotlessly clean and a hotel with a good location for the town look no further.

Thanks you Giannis, Emmi, we will be back. S & R.

I've been to Mykonos many times and always stayed at the same place, until I found Sourmeli. Now it's my new favorite and I can't wait to go back. The owners are very kind, place perfectly clean, has all you need, and you can walk to downtown. Peaceful, I slept so well there!!!!

This is a simple but pleasant hotel just outside the main town of Mykonos. The owners are extremely friendly, speak good English and run a very good taxi service to and from the airport and port, free of charge. They also provide breakfast and other food on request. There is a good bus service to beaches across the island from the stop near the hotel. The road into town is rather busy and lacks pavements but everything else is really good, especially the very reasonable prices.

It's no easy to describe the Marvellous hospitality that Family' Giannis reserve to us during our amazing stay. Since our arrival at this very nice garden hotel Giannis and his family made feel us as our own home. Dakos and good wine as a hearty welcome!
Very kindly, helpful and friendly person at everytime!
The hotel is just 2 mins by bike and 10 mins by walking so at one step from citycentre but without noise of it. The rooms are spacious, very quite and clean. All facilities included: air conditioning, tv, fridge, free wi-fi and very nice balcony.
Giannis guaranteed us best rate for rent a bike too and free pick up transfer from/to airport/port.
I'll never be tired to thanks that's amazing person!

Amazing service from a very nice family, they helped us when our booking was gone at another hotel, will come here again. 8 min to walk to the centre, bus stop close when coming back from Paradise or another beach.

My boyfriend and I stayed there for 10 nights in mid August and enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is small and simple, but nice and clean. We had a double room on the first floor with a large balcony (rooms on the second floor are a little bit more expensive than those on the ground floor, which have a patio rather than a balcony and offer less privacy). The bathroom was a little bit small, but the room was large and had air conditioning and a minibar/fridge. Breakfast was not included in the room rate, but you can have one in the small, pleasant garden of the hotel (continental breakfast was 7 euros per person). The owners are very kind and friendly.

The hotel is located in Vrisi, 5-10 minutes by walking to Mykonos town & Fabrica bus station, on the road to Ornos. Although a bus stop is close to the hotel, we rented a car to go around the island during the day and used to go to the town by foot in the night (we rented the car at the airport, but there is a car/scooter hire very close to the hotel). The road to the town is pretty narrow, so you have to be careful to scooters, cars and buses particularly when it gets dark. The positive is that the location is quite.

So, if you do not want to spend a fortune in the expensive Mykonos island and you are careful when walking to the town, Sourmeli Garden is a good choice!

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor are a little bit more expensive than those on the ground floor, which have...

We stayed at Sourmeli Garden Hotel for 3 nights in mid August. This is a lovely family run hotel. The hotel is simple, clean and homely. The rooms have been recently refurbished and were spotlessly clean although the shower was small. The hotel is situated out of the busy town but is located on the main road . It is a 10 min walk into town.
The owners, Giannis and Emmi were always happy to help and very friendly. Giannis picked us up from the airport and the port. We would recommed this hotel to anyone who is looking for a cheap and quiet hotel.
