At first you're like...."umm IS this a museum? or some crazy lady sitting in a room with her door open.."

It is a museum of how Mykonian houses look on the inside back in the day. It's a good 6 minute activity while you are strolling about.

An authentic feel of what it must have been like to live in Mykonos before the tourist era! A grandmother's world. Lots of interesting pictures and furniture - but don't walk on the wooden floor and stay on the carpet! Also, if you ask the lady of the house where the kitchen is, you may as well know just about everyone asks her that question!! So here's the answer: it's now part of the Maritime Museum next door: the house was split in two when the last owner died and the Town used half of it (the kitchen!) for the museum. The lady at the door is very interesting to talk to and she speaks five languages! Just don't ask her where the kitchen is! Entry is free but a donation is highly appreciated for upkeep and maintenance.

Right next door to the Maritime Museum is "Lena's House" bequeathed to the Town on her death. It is a perfect microcosm of 19th Century life in Mykonos and worth a 10 minute visit. Entry is free and it is open in the evenings only (June 2014).

I guess I knew what I was going in to see but its really just a couple of rooms (small) with furniture from a bygone age. It's interesting to go and see and as it is free and on one of the main streets there is really no excuse not to pop in.

Lena's house is located right near the Maritime museum and just like the museum, you can easily miss it as is on this busy street with lots of shops around it.
