“Highly recommend - convenient with lovely views”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We spent three nights at this elegant hotel in an executive suite on the top floor. We had a spacious balcony with lovely views of the coast and sea. Our room was spacious and newly decorated, and the windows were double glazed to ensure quietness.

The breakfast was fine, with plenty of variety, including freshly made omelettes, although coffee made to order incurred an additional charge. Different types of yoghourt and milk were available, but there were no labels indicating whether they were low or high fat, sweetened or unsweetened.

We wanted to explore historic Corfu Town and nearby areas without a car, and the hotel is very suitable to do this. A bus runs regularly into the old town - take the No.2 bus. Before you board the bus, buy your tickets at the kiosk beside the sea and save 40 cents on each journey.

We dined at a nearby Greek restaurant called Avli, which is highly rated on TripAdvisor. The food is wonderful and affordable. I enjoyed the vegetarian selections, including zucchini fritters and eggplant casserole and my husband found the meat dishes superb. To reach Avli, leave the hotel by the front entrance and turn left. Turn left again into the side street, walk for three or four minutes and you're there. Locals eat here too, which is an excellent indication of authentic food. Further on, there's a small supermarket and ice-cream place.

This is not an international chain hotel - it has a local flavour and feeling, and we'd love to return someday.

Room Tip: Try to book a room with a view

To find an excellent hotel which was not too 'touristy' was a joy for us. If you want large swimming pools and bars, don't go here, but for comfort, excellent service, good sized rooms and wonderful views across the Ionian Sea towards the mountain ranges of mainland Greece - this is for you.

Room Tip: We paid for a front sea view and were lucky enough to have a balcony at the end, so had a double vie...

This is our third stay at this hotel and we are hoping to return again. It´s totally renovated since our last stay and that is really an improvement! Air condition in the rooms is much better now, except the balcony door has to be closed in order for the system to work. This was not documented anywhere. Upon arrival we were given a glass of sparkling wine while waiting to check-in. The breakfast buffet has a lot of delicious options including fresh fruits and in several evenings of our one week stay, there were live music in the restaurant. The view over the sea is really breathtaking. We love the location of this hotel since it´s walking distance to the center parts of Corfu town and also to the beautiful Mon Repo palace (the former royal family summer residence). There are several good restaurants with reasonable prizes just a few minutes of walk from the hotel.

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who handed us a glass of bubbly! This set the tone for the rest of our 2 week stay.
The service throughout the hotel was excellent at all times, from dining room staff to the quality of cleanliness in our room! All staff were friendly & efficient. Kostas, the restaurant manager, had a very caring manner and was great to talk to, providing lots of information about the hotel and it's history.
We were pleased to be on a half-board basis as we found the meals of great quality. Breakfasts provided a vast choice to suit all tastes. Evening meals also provided a huge variety, so much so that it took us a couple of days to discover everything on offer!
Live music is offered most evenings. Also there are taverna's and restaurants close by.
Hotel is in an ideal position, on the Promenade at the tip of Garitsa Bay, 20-30 mins walk to town centre or taking no 2 bus (20mins service) which stop close by. A 5-10 min stroll in the other direction brings you to Mon Repos palace (where Prince Philip was born).
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel which will certainly be our choice when next in Corfu town!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 312, although not large, had plenty storage space. Sea & inland view. The high...

Excellently sited, a promenade stroll into Corfu Old Town, and with a number of restaurants within two minutes. Upgraded to a sea view room was a nice surprise, and the balcony overlooking the promenade was spacious and inviting. The room was modern, functional and spotlessly clean, and the staff pleasant and helpful. The only criticism was that the breakfast buffet, whilst extensive, was tired and lacking in quality. However, I have already rebooked for one night later in the year

It's all been said before. The hotel is very good in every respect and special credit to EVI for her friendly attentiveness at meal times. Breakfasts could be improved with fresh fruit instead of tinned, but that is nit picking.
The hotel faces east, so sitting on a balcony at the front, you look across the sea to Albania. The view might be obscured by an incomplete building directly in front of the hotel. The rooms on the right facing north look across the bay to the old fortress, but they get no sun all day. If sitting on your balcony in full sun is what you need, then have a room on the left (numbers 01 to about 13). There is still a pretty view from the higher floors too.
The blue bus number 2 goes into town every 20 minutes. Tickets are €1.50 on the bus, or buy them in advance from the kiosk across the road from the hotel at €1.10. The hotel sits in a one way system so the return bus does not pass by. You have to get off at the Avli restaurant about 300m away and walk back. Alternatively board the bus to Kanoni at Avli (same fares) and enjoy the magnificent scenery there whilst sipping on a cooling drink and watching the aircraft landing. This turned out to be a popular pastime with visitors of all ages.
There are several restaurants nearby, some of which seem to be very popular late into the evening, or you can easily get into the town centre either on foot, or by bus. The hotel's dinner buffet is very good value at €15, although I would not particularly want it every night, so a B&B package might be best.
Do visit the nearby Mon Repos palace and grounds, which provide a welcome relief from the heat of the midday sun. This is where the Duke of Edinburgh was born, and entrance to the grounds is free; the house entrance is only a couple of euros.
Well done Jet2 Holidays for an excellent package.
