I have been eating regularly at Nautilus throughout 2012 after it was taken over by American Greeks who brought a distinctivly high quality and consistent cuisine. Make no mistake the quality of food here rivals and indeed exceeds the high priced resaurants in the centre of town, and in a much more pleasant and relaxed environment.
Nautilus is located at the end of the sweep of Garetsas bay, looking down from the Old Fort direction, tucked in front of the harbour wall and next to the circular stone windmill. You can see the windmill as you look down from the Old Fort direction and can easily walk the half mile along the sea front, or park on the street. This location gives an excellent viewpoint and you can sit out and observe the boating activity and the Old Fort. Its also a good stopping off point for the airport which is just round the corner and there is no pressure to order food, its just as pleasant for a glass of wine or beer, or a coffee.
The food is tappas style - so a wide selection of small dishes, reasonably priced. You can either select your own, or order a selection for the table. Its all good but the spicy greens, pork dish and mini-beef burgers are my favourites. Its very moreish - as everything is tasty, well presented and disappears so quickly from the table. Its Greek but with an international quality standard and consistency that makes a mouth watering change from the standard taverna grills.
