“SPORTHOTEL FUCHS”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

We stayed here in June 2014 on a Shearings coach holiday. When we arrived it looked beautiful and just like the photos in the brochure - this wasn't to last for long. At approx. 6.30 am on the Monday after we arrived late on Sunday we heard noise outside and assumed it was the refuse collection! The builders had arrived! They were going to dig up the large car park to make way for an underground car park ready for the ski season and also dug about an acre of beautiful green grass adjacent to the hotel which is going to be a new hotel.
We had to put up with the noise and dust and large lorries and diggers coming & going all week. It totally spoilt our holiday as they were working from 8am till gone 7pm every day. If you like peace & quiet and beautiful surroundings on your holiday then I would stay well away from thos hotel.
The food was terrible at breakfast - we had stale cereals and bread and rolls, jam, cheese , meats and fruit) a bruised apple or if you were lucky a small banana) every day - no variety the only hot food was mushy scrambled egg. The dinner was a little better but we went all inclusive which in our opinion means a choice of food and plenty of it but we were offered one choice of starter , 2 choices of main and one choice of dessert. cheap table wine to accompany our meal = they served to your table and there was no buffet. This was NOT all inclusive.
As we were all inclusive the drinks fridge was locked at 10pm so there was nobody in the small bar and absolutely no atmosphere. The hotel did not provide any kind of entertainment and hotel manager was quite rude on occasions.
We would not stay here again even if you paid us - Austria itself is a beautiful country but sadly this hotel lets it down.

Stayed here with Shearings in June. The reviews we had read were very mixed, so we weren't sure what to expect. We needn't have worried! The hotel was excellent. The view from our balcony was fantastic with snowcapped mountains in the distance. Several places to eat around if you wanted a change. But the food in the hotel was more than adequate. Although they did seem fond of serving pork every night! Don't recall seeing any pigs during our stay? The bonus of the ski-lift next to hotel made the trip to the top of the 1,854 mtrs. mountain a joy. '

This was our tenth stay in this hotel over the last 14 years. It has never disappointed us. The hotel owner and his staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for you. The evening meal is a five course affair with buffet starters, salad & soup - all excellently prepared - followed by a choice of main courses, then pudding, cheese and fruit! The choice at the buffet breakfast is excellent too - hot and cold foods - eggs prepared in a number of ways, bacon, cold hams and cheese and lots of different cereals and fruits. The free fitness room is lovely downstairs too. What can I say about its location for the ski lift - its all of 18 paces away! The two ski hire shops and ski storage bases are just across the narrow road too. Would we stay there again? Most definitely! The only caveat that I would add is that it appears only Crystal Ski travel to this hotel as a package - we have now found their organisational ability in Austria dire two years running. When we next go to this hotel, we will consider booking the hotel directly - they do a package including lift passes and arranging our own flights to Salzburg or Munich (both just over an hour's drive away) - it will work out cheaper as well.

We went on a Shearings all inclusive holiday in August staying at Sporthotel Fuchs in Hopfgarten
Austria. We had a large room facing the church which is a very nice view. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was much of the same every day with scrambled egg being the only hot food at breakfast, lunch was a packed lunch which you prepared yourself from the same basic things every day, cheese, ham , salami, jam' The evening meal was very good with choices. The staff are very friendly, and helpful. The cable car to the mountain is directly across the road from the hotel. The all inclusive drinks finishes at 10 pm every night. The coach trip from England to Austria with Shearings was excellent as was all the day trips included. A special mention of our driver Johnny with his outstanding Knowledge keeping us all informed and entertained every single day, and skilful driving. Well worth the trip.

All Austrain hotels offer something special. This hotel was very friendly, clean, staff helpful. Set in a lovely location with good friendly bars in just a few mins walk. The village is very quiet. A perfect setting for Mountain photo's. Will do this tripa again in a couple of years i think. Such good value for money.

we had 4 nights here on a full board basis. Can't fault any of it. Food was good- basic but good and plenty of it. Service was cheerful and courteous and most of all efficient. travelled to many areas from here. The views from the room are panoramic and picturesque. There is a sauna and its right across the road from the cable car and 5 mins walk to the railway and a little more into the cute village. Would stay again and can not recommend highly enough

IWent to this hotel with Shearings at the end of July and stayed for 6 nights. We had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the village and it was quite beautiful. The room itself was comfortable but basic and would benefit from a few extras like tea/coffee making facilities especially as drinks are not allowed in the room from downstairs. The "all inclusive" was a bit of a joke and had a poor selection of drinks. My partner is diabetic and they offered no diet drinks though to be fair when he told them he was diabetic they did get a few bottles of diet coke for him!! The choice of breakfast food was the same every day, rolls, bread, yogurt, tinned fruit, ham, cheese, jam cereals and scrambled eggs. Lunch was a roll (not bread) with the cheese /ham made at breakfast time and a piece of fruit and a bottle of water, again the same every day....boring!! We did have a choice of 3 things for dinner each evening but this had to be chosen at breakfast also. Mostly the evening meals were very good so that was a bonus. The entertainment consisted of a Tyrolian eve which we had to pay extra for and also buy drinks as that wasn't included in the "all inclusive" package even though it was in the hotel....talk about rip you off!! Also when I looked up the hotel it says there is an outdoor pool.....sadly no!! there is no pool and as they were having a heatwave it would have been very welcome. Also it would have been nice to have a fan in the room as the temp most days was between 34-38degrees so sleeping was uncomfortable. Although we had an enjoyable holiday it could have been improved with a few little touches from the hotel, ie, a variety of different foods for lunch instead of another breakfast!! they did seem to favour the German visitors more and were more attentive to them. Fortunately there is a supermarket at the end of the village which was well used to stock up on extras for lunch and buying diet cokes. The excursions were lovely and as the coach was air conditioned it was a welcome break from the heat. A trip up the mountain is a must (as is the ice cream served in the restaurant half way up the mountain) the views from the top are amazing. I am pleased we have been and seen how beautiful the place is but the hotel was only ok, nothing special.
