“The perfect holiday for a family with children of all ages”
Reviewed 7 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Having never had a holiday abroad as a family with 4 children aged from 8 to 14 years, I can honestly say we had a fantastic time.

We especially enjoyed being able to spend time with the animals on the farm, the swimming pool, visiting the local vineyards and night markets.

The accommodation was great and had everything you could want.

“Perfect”
Reviewed 28 September 2015 for a stay in June 2015

All I can say is this place is a amazing, We are a family of four with two young girls and stayed a week at the end of June as part of a larger 3 week vacation and it was our favorite accommodation of the whole trip. There are two separate cottages and we stayed in the Les Chênes house which was huge for the four of us. The house was very charming, clean, and had all the amenities we needed (as we prepared many meals at the house). We greatly enjoyed eating most of meals outdoors on the patio. What makes this place truly wonderful for the kids are the animals. Our girls sat for hours with choppentte (the dog), the rabbits, sheep, pig, goats, goose, horses, donkeys, sheep, and cat. As an added bonus the girls were very excited in helping clean up after meals so that they could collect all the food scraps to feed the animals. On top of this there are two available swing sets and a pool, plenty to offer entertainment while the adults got to relax and take in the peace and quiet. There was another family staying in their second unit and never did this intrude on our own sense of privacy.

The location is excellent for exploring the Dordogne region. I was a little worried that it was a bit far from major attractions in the area, but we did not find this to be the case, exploring the Dordogne river, Sarlat-la-Canéda, Bergerac, and many small towns and markets around the area. Eymet is a nice little village, and the are some nice restaurants in the area.

Isabelle and Thierry were great hosts and made us feel very welcome and relaxed while giving us all the privacy we wanted. They provided excellent recommendations on things to do, wines, restaurants, and markets; were available if we had questions or needed something; and regularly checked in to make sure our stay was going well. The reservation process and payment were very easy and Isabelle was very responsive to queries and requests throughout the booking process. It is clear from our time with them that they truly love sharing their home and farm with others. We hope that our journeys will take us back to their farm again in the not so distant future.

Hello Todd and family,

Your comment is so kind. What could we say? That you were also a perfect family with two nice little girls. That we enjoyed talking about your life in Saudi Arabia, and that we hope for you in the future, that you return to your country for your dreams.
Thank you for your visit to Lauzanac. You will be welcome if you decide to come back another time.
Best wishes for you all. Isabelle and Thierry.

“Absolutely Wonderful”
Reviewed 30 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My wife and I rented the farmhouse cottage Les Chênes at Lauzanac for two weeks from late July into early August. During our visit, we also had numerous friends and family stopping by to stay with us. First off, the area is absolutely beautiful. Eymet is a great little Bastide village with lots happening. For a small village, it seems like something is always happening. The nocturnal market is the highlight and happens every Tuesday. What is really special is the fact that there are numerous small villages within a 30 min drive that are wonderful places to visit. There is a market everyday of the week somewhere near Lauzanac.

As for Les Chênes at Lauzanac, we could not have been more happy with our choice. Isabelle and Thierry are wonderful people and they go out of their way to ensure that you have a perfect vacation. From offering recommendations on where to visit, to taking our friends children on a tractor ride, to having us over for aperitifs, and for letting the kids (and adults) play with the animals, they are the perfect hosts. The house has three bedrooms upstairs all with their own bathroom, a tv room with English and French channels, a well equipped kitchen, large dining table, and a comfortable living room. I must say, other than sleeping and cooking we spent very little time inside the house. We had every meal outside at the covered picnic table and that is where we always gathered to discuss the days events.

If we were not at the table, we were at the pool. The pool was perfect as it was very hot during our stay. All of us, adults and kids had a blast there.

Lauzanac is a working farm which adds to the fun of the vacation. We started everyday by walking down the driveway and were always greeted by all the animals. Choupinette, Isabelle and Thierry's dog, was a true joy to be around. She joined us for almost every meal and came along for our walks. She added to the enjoyment of the place.

The nearby lake was a real plus for us as we are avid walkers. The trail around the lake is 7 KM which we did everyday.

All in all Les Chênes at Lauzanac is the perfect vacation rental. Great house, great community, and great hosts. We cannot recommend this rental more. We hope to return next year and for more than two weeks.

Thank you Isabelle and Thierry!!!! You provided us with the perfect vacation. Exactly what we needed. Each one of our guests also remarked on how much they enjoyed your property and the area. We all loved meeting you and hope to see you again in the future.

“Our unforgetable country holiday in the majestic Dordogne at lovely Lauzanac”
Reviewed 26 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We spent April and May watching spring morph into summer at Lauzanac. As "city folk" we loved the country atmosphere and our many unique experiences: the birthing of calves and their move to pasture, the shearing of sheep, and the harvesting of crops. We laughed at Isabelle's farm pets who would greet us from their position at the fence as we drove up the lane. Our hosts, Isabelle and Thierry are wonderful kind people who are genuinely concerned about making their guests happy and comfortable. They were attentive yet allowed us our privacy. The Gîte is spacious and comfortable and for the most part well appointed. (We had 2 sets of sheets and towels for each bedroom and some were beginning to show their wear. As well ,the kitchen could have used some trays for transporting food to the patio and platters for entertaining, which I am sure Isabelle would have obtained for us if I had mentioned it at the time). The large bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, are fantastic and afforded our visiting guests and family members their privacy. The parking is convenient and the private outdoor pool, ping pong table, and patio make it the perfect place to relax. The entire area is seeped in beauty and history and Lauzanac is perfectly located for discovering the Dordogne. We found it to be an ideal location for hiking and cycling as well as taking numerous side-trips. Eymet, three kilometers away, is a charming bastide village with all amenities.

Liked best: sitting by the fire on the cooler nights/ the donkey braying/walking through Cogulot into Eymet for a café au lait and pastery
Liked least: kitchen could have been a little better stocked ie there were no trays to carry items back and forth to the patio, a few more bowls

“Perfect Hosts Perfect Location Perfect Holiday”
Reviewed 19 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We have just returned from a Wonderful relaxing holiday at Isabelle and Thierry's Gite in Lauzanac. Our hosts are warm and friendly couple who go out of their way to make sure you have a good holiday nothing is too much trouble. We were greeted warmly on arrival by Thierry and son Adam (who speaks a little English) and later by Isabelle who is very fluent in English she proved to be a great asset , informing us when needed with places to eat and sites to visit. There was a bottle of wine and fresh flowers in the Gite which is full of French charm with a huge fireplace and a rustic kitchen equipped with everything you need Washer, Cooker, microwave, toaster pans cups etc. We had 3 en-suites and there is a downstairs toilet with a shower toilet and sink outside next to the decent sized Pool. There are games for Children inside and out a swing and plenty of spaces to play hide and seek or kick a ball about. There is outside space for Adults too with a BBQ area and herbs in the garden lots of Rosemary and Sage which we could use Basil and Thyme too. The men enjoyed feeding the animals with leftovers some of them are very funny you just have to Laugh. We were very Lucky with the weather it was hot and sunny most of the time and we walked to the River at the bottom of the road and to a nearby Reservoir, Eymet is a Lovely Bastide Town with some nice places to eat , it is near Bergerac and close by 3 or 4 Chateau's which are a must Chateau Bridoire is full of games for children inside there is a Punch and Judy theatre and a small fort with little tents inside, and lot's of other games but outside is full of games too. even though we are pensioners we had a go too. I can't praise the Gite Isabelle and Thierry highly enough, we were sorry to leave and would love to go back again, with Choupinette ( the family dog) we seem to have made a friend for life. You can also go fishing, rods are provided and we had the use of a Bicycle which Thierry made road worthy. We all felt very lucky to have picked this Gite and would recomend to all our Family and Friends.

“Paradise where three families met.”

This place was recommended to us by a friend that had stayed in the other cottage some years back.
On the basis of that recommendation we booked Le Pigeonnier, which has recently been refurbished.
This was an ideal place for three part of my family to meet up. I flew in from Australia, my parents flew over from England and my sister and her family flew in from Scotland!
Quite simply this place was all we expected it to be and more! The quality and value for money were excellent, there was plenty of space for all guests (useful given we had Grandparents, 'Children' and teenage Grandchildren.
The pool was a sure fire hit coupled with the perfect weather for the week meant they stayed in there until late into the evening.
The hosts were perfect, friendly, accommodating, without being in any way instrusive.
The farm was fabulous and all ages enjoyed feeding the horses, mules, pigs, sheep, rabbits, and of course the star hit, Chopinette the dog!
Thanks to Isabelle and Thierry for making an excellent week possible.

“Wonderful holiday”

We had simply the BEST holiday here at Lauzanac. We stayed for almost two months and we felt at home from the moment we arrived and were welcomed by Isabelle and Thierry. Ideally situated just outside Eymet, the gite comprises three queen sized bedrooms all of which have generous ensuite bathrooms. A renovated barn, the gite still managed to look traditional but afford all modern conveniences. The kitchen was really well equipped and I loved sitting by the wood fire of a chilly evening with a glass of local red. (Try Domaine D'Eybro - it's really good!). When the weather brightened up, we were able to take advantage of our own private swimming pool or play table tennis. Oh and the big kid in me fell in love with all the animals; the goats, the sheep, the donkeys, horses and cows. Not forgetting all the bunny rabbits! And since it was spring there were plenty of baby animals to cuddle. I would go back in a heartbeat!
