“NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED.....”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

This hotel has not been modernised into 2013 standards but uses this as something to be proud of. That would be fine if prices were still unmodernised. For somewhere that offers very few facilities, the prices are high.

The hotel is actually very near something akin to a youth hostel full of Italian youths who populate the very small beach next to the hotel (the only place to swim nearby). They are there from very early in the morning to late at night - there are also lots of people camping in the trees above the beach with seemingly no 'facilities' so you sometimes have to watch where you tread - this was a case in a couple of places in Agistri.

The rooms do have lovely views of Aegina but apart from the bar/restaurant area there are no public areas to disappear to and read a book or have a quick dip. The bar opens in the evening but it is sometimes nice to order a beer and sit during the day without having to leave where you are staying.

As mentioned in other reviews, the shower/toilet arrangement is very odd and all a bit drippy and claustrophobic. Air con adequate. Small fridge very noisy. No tea or coffee making facilities.

Staff were lovely.

I know it is very middle class to think somewhere like this is Bohemian and wonderful because of its lack of all of the above and that is obviously why the reviews are so gushing but I personally think it is too lacking for the price.

I am not qualified to comment on the reviewer's expectations but am grateful for their reference to the free-camping which is plaguing the beauty spots of our island. The local government is aware of this illegal activity though currently seems powerless to prevent it. The more voices from those who care the greater the possibility that a solution will be found.

I assume the reviewer's comment that "The hotel is actually very near something akin to a youth hostel" refers to the proximity of a nearby establishment and is not intended as a description of the Agistri Club. I please the reviewer to clarify this comment.

For the information of prospective guests I must point out that although our reception and bar are closed during the siesta period from 3 to 7 in the afternoon, there are refridgerators in every room for storing cold refreshment, and the public terrace overlooking the sea is at all times available for reading, writing, wifi-ing or just watching the sea!

Agistri is a gorgeous laid back island and the Agistri club is a wonderful hotel. All the staff are lovely, the rooms have fabulous views and are kept immaculately cleaned. Bryan and Henrietta are brilliant hosts and even collect you from the ferry! We ate in the hotel on several evenings and the food is probably the best on the island. We will definitely stay there again when we next return to Agistri.

Two years ago a friend told me about Agistri Club Hotel. Go there you won't be disappointed! He said. This year my wife two of our friends and I finally got there. Everything was perfect! The location, the rooms, the weather, the sea, the food, the very cold Myrtos draft beer, the humor, the evenings in the restaurant and of course Harriet(and her fantastic marmelades), Bryan, Lara and the nice staff. All very frienldly and relaxed! Thank You!

After settling down in my cosy room at Jet and Bryan's Agistri Club Hotel, it didn't take long before I felt I had arrived in the most peaceful and beautiful scenery you can imagine. I enjoyed their lovely fresh prepaired food and felt very, very welcome! But what struck me the most, was the arranged boat trip, which took us around the island. The sea was more beautiful than ever and suddenly it occured to me that if there is a heaven, this is what it must look like! Being with friends, sun, sea, nice food, drinks and this gorgeous island. Just perfect!

So do visit Jet and Bryan at their Club and enjoy it as much as I did!

Excellent location, great view towards Aegina, great people. We stayed for 2 nights in two different rooms; first room was a bit small with spectacular view and a private terrace. The bathroom was tiny and the shower was over the toilet. The second room and bathroom were very spacious, yet the shower was still over the toilet. You should plan to get your own shampoo and shower-gel as there aren't any in the room, but instead you can buy them from the hotel's reception. Breakfast - included in the room's price- was very poor, with limited choices. Overall we would recommend Agistri Club Hotel as it is v.clean and Bryan and the staff are all very service-minded and friendly, even though we feel that it's more expensive than it should be.

Room Tip: Rooms on the sea side are quieter and with better views
