“June visit”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

The hotel is halfway up/ down a hill between the beach and the village.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful when we arrived. It was the easiest check in ever and then escorted to our room carrying one of our cases. Room was clean and some furniture looked relatively new. The room air con works great and was reasonably priced at €5 per day. Food in the evening tasted a lot better than it looked. Pork every night so we went to the village a few times as it was only a10 min walk and the acropolis restaurant was great.
If you do go to town in the evening then take a torch. The street lights seemed to go off around11pm.
A trip to the beach is easy down hill and we went right to the camping area of the beach where you get your beds and a shade for €5 spent at the bar on drinks. There is a noddy train running every hour back up to the village from the beach at €1 each if you are feeling lazy.
Overall I would recommend the resort and the kassandra bay hotel as good value.

Room Tip: Top floor facing the pool as the air con on the other side can get a little noisy.

Arrived back from Kassandra Bay on 7th July.We booked last year before we read reviews so were a bit apprehensive as to what to expect.
\we had emailed hotel to ask for a room on top floor (63 steps ) with a good view and that is what we got, we had a pool and sea view, anywhere else you would have to pay supplements to get the view.
Room was a very good size, not a lot of space to hang clothes and no place really to keep suitcases. bathroom was clean ,shower cubicle had a concertina door but was a little on the small side
Rooms cleaned daily and if towels left on floor they were changed, sheets changed only twice in two weeks . Having hot or even warm water was a problem at times, you could not for example go to beach in morning and comeback say at lunch time and expect to have a shower in warm or hot water if you wanted to get rid of sand etc., water seemed to come on at set times. every evening at 6.40 there would be hot water.

Breakfast for me was fine, choice of 3 cereals, yogurt, honey nuttella 3 types of jam, cold meat cheese white, brown bread, rolls bread for toast and an egg of the day dish, usually served cold.(Cold omelette not very pleasant) Coffee and the juice was a bit rubbish, juice was just coloured water
Dinner was almost warm soup served at your table with 3 slice of bread between two, then a choice of two mains usually lukewarm to cold, with a vegetable, rice, pasta or spaghettti plus tomato, shredded carrots , lettuce, feta cheese.
Desserts were dire, for example one night a piece of jelly about 1 1//2 inches square, another night small pieces of water melon..
People have said that staff very friendly, they were , but only it seemed to people that had visited before, Every member of staff spoke but was no different from any hotel I have been before.Nothing special
When we paid our bill the day we left , there was no did you enjoy your stay or any other comment other than how much we had to pay.
Now the hill to village, is steep in bits, but it takes 10 minutes to walk up (we are in middle 60S).
Getting to beach again takes 10 mins down hill and if hill too steep to come back up there is the wee train that leaves the beach car park, near the beach kiosk, at quarter to the hour up till 5.45 every day and it will take you back to hotel or drop you off at village for 1 euro.
Would I visit again, definately not. as there is really nothing in the area for us, buses are few and far between and the beaches of Polychrono.Hanioti, and Pefkohori are wall to wall umbrellas/ sunbeds.
Kalithea is perhaps the better beach resort it is roughly 5 kilometers from Kriopigi.

The hotel is not dealing with Thomson for 2015 season and anyone wanting to return can conactt hotel by email or on facebook.

Room Tip: rooms 308.307.306.305,304 have pool and sea views

Upon first going to the hotel everyting was great. It's about an hour and a half a drive on a coach from the airport and in a hidden road in kriopigi. The pool and surrounding areas are beautiful. Our room as on the top floor on the opposite side to the pool so in the evening we had a lovely amount of sunshine still on our balcony. The room itself is basic but adequate. We had a double bed with a nice bathroom that actually has a shower curtain (unusual for Greece). The rooms were small but enough for us. As we were half board there was nothing like a fridge or kettle in the room. A fridge would have been fab to keep water cool as it was still hot at night time. We found the maids to be quite noisy particularly in the morning. Doors slamming early on and maids having a loud conversation in our corridor around 8am. This woke me up most mornings. We only ate breakfast the first day. It was very basic, yoghurt and honey and Nutella with a selection of jams and butter on one side and on the other fresh breads some for toasting and some buns. There was also eggs every morning, a different style each day. Tea, coffee and juice was also available. The evening meal was pretty average, nothing to shout about. The first night we had a beautifully cooked chicken breast with rice and vegetables. Each night you get a different soup, tomato, vegetable, mushroom etc. Pork was a popular dish and occassionally fish. There were certain traditional greek dishes like moussaka. We were not sure if it was the time that we went but most of our dishes were just lukewarm as they are all on big trays like buffet style and kept warm under a light. Dinner was at 7pm till 9 and we usually around 8/8.30. Some people would be there at 7pm and have more than one serving. This worried us incase there was nothing left. A couple of times the desert ran out. Along with the main dish there was a salad bar which was traditional greek. We ate out in the resort roughly 6nights out of our 14 there.

The pool bar serves snacks from 12/3pm such as toasties, salads, pizzas and omelettes. Reasonably priced and good enough portions. My boyfriend drinks cider and this was hard to come buy in this resort. We found two bars in total that served it. The pool bar was quite expensive for imported drinks. For example a drink of jack Daniels would cost you 7 euro. Local alcohol such as beer, wine, gin, vodka were charged at 4 euros for spirits and 2.50 for wine and beer.

The resort itself is quiet. You have to negotiate the hill up to the resort. On the website this says it is a slight hill, I warn you, it is not! We are in our early twenties and struggled in the heat to get up the hill, it got easier as the week went by and it is probably about a ten min walk up. There are a selection of tavernas and bars but not many. Casablanca bar was out favourite. The staff were amazing and very welcoming. We spent most of evenings here the classic bar was also a good place to go. If you go up the side roads there are a few hidden tavernas that offer nice good at a smaller cost.

The beach was a hassle. It's about a twenty Minute walk downhill from the hotel and there isn't much there. No where to get something to eat and just a van that sold drinks. It was rough to walk on and very rocky in the water. We chose to lie on a lilo with a towel on to Catch some rays. We only visited this beach once in the two weeks which was a shame because we both love the beach. We did however get a taxi into nearby pallini, this was a five star hotel that allowed other holiday makers in to use their beach facilities. We paid 6 euro for sun loungers and a parasol. We had some lunch and a few drinks at one of the pools which also was a pool bar. This place was lovely and the beach was breath taking. You could hire out water aports here too, we had a pedalo for an hour which cost 10euros.

The staff in the hotel where okay and helpful at times. Nobody ever introduced themselves so we didn't know any names. Dogs and cats do tend to roam free but that didn't bother us. The pool was nice and big and had both a shallow and deep end. It was always warm because the sun shone on it most of the day. Although I did buy a lilo and in the second week everybody else took to using it before I had the chance to! We counted around 7 umbrellas for shade and they always went early on in the day so we tended to sit in the bar area for some shade. There were plenty of sunbeds to go around.

There were a couple of weekly events in the hotel. Karaoke, pub quiz and a Greek night. The Greek night was a BBQ where you get two small pieces of meat, some salad, potato wedges and fresh bread. There was no entertainment as such. We skipped out on the other entertainment as there was a group of 6 friends who had met here the year before who seemed to dominate.

The weather was lovely when we went. The hottest being 37degreea one day!! Take plenty of sunscreen as it's expensive to buy there!

Free wifi in the pool and revelation area which was useful

Overall we had a nice time together. For what we paid it was what we expected but it has put me off going half board again. We were one of the youngest couples there so maybe it just wasn't for us ( a lot of the older couples stared)!

If you don't mind what you eat and not too fussed on seeing something new every day then this hotel would be brilliant for you. If we had have paid more we would have been majorly disappointed but it served a purpose and we had a relaxing time.

We were however told that Thomson are pulling out of this hotel next year and that really doesn't surprise us!

Superb quiet countryside location, yet only a ten minute stroll up a steep hill to the village and a fifteen minute walk down to the beach. There some fab walks to be had, if you like to walk. Very friendly, family run hotel. Plenty of sun loungers on the spacious grass lawn with great music being played too. The family offer a superb BBQ on 1 night and Greek night on another. (included in the half board of the Thomson half board cost). Rooms are very clean, located higher floor the better yet be aware of the 70 odd steps. 45 Euros for the air conditioning and hire of the safe for 1 week. Thank you x from room 315

What a nice hotel this is.Family run so you seem to get better service than big hotels ok the food is a little basic but it is always cooked very well .The rooms are a little compact but kept very clean .The pool area is very quiet and kept clean and tidy. Now to the famous hill it is a little steep either going to the beach or to the shops but if like me you have problems with hills just take your time and its fine .Also the trip to thesoloniki is very worth while .Would I return to this hotel it would be yes if I wanted to return to halkidiki.Just one last thing go to the next resort (kalithayia) and go to fregio for the best ice cream ever (yoghurt flavour)
