“Oh my, am I dreaming?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

After a challenging drive up a winding dirt track, the Villa Turkauz stood proud and beautiful on the hill top, looking like, if possible, a welcoming friend.

Flights of steps lead to the front door. Entering the villa reveals a very tastefully decorated open plan living / dining area. Twin sofas with a huge coffee table in between embrace a terrific fireplace, with a large flat screen TV over. There is a bookcase with guides, books(!) and a good collection of DVDs.

A dining table separates the living and kitchen areas. The kitchen is better fitted out than my own. Should you wish to entertain friends, eight people could be fed and amused very comfortably.

Large sliding doors lead to a balcony terrace which overlooks the stunning infinity pool. Stairs from either side of the terrace lead to the pool. There is something very decadent about the pool, and that is not a bad thing. Enjoy a glass of wine on the pool side loungers late at night under the stars and count the number of bats which silently fly over at night. The cicadas provide the background music. Another aspect of the magic that is the Villa Turkauz..

The magic continues at bedtime as one climbs - no - ascends the sweeping stairs to the bedrooms. I felt very 'Hollywood' on those stairs. The sweep of them, and the lighting really appealed. Elegance comes to mind.

All three bedrooms and the two bathrooms were wonderful. Hot water all the time, good mirrors and all the fluffy towels one could want. Waking up in the morning, looking out from the terrace balcony to the mountains and the sun rays shimmering on the sea below is a great start to the day. The air is so sweet with the scent of pine.

Tips and guidelines would be difficult to give as everyone looks for their own holiday experiences.

The barbecue area is conveniently located by the poolside. Ample water should the fire get too hot! However, the supermarkets in the town are not well stocked with barbecue foods. Perhaps I missed the big market.

Try having breakfast in the town. A restaurant at the very end of the main street, opposite the ATMs serves an adequate breakfast, but remember you are in Turkey.

If the need for exciting restaurant locations is irresistible, the Canyon restaurant in far away Salikent is an experience. Enjoy a basic lunch, lounging on cushions, floating on what could only be described as a platform, while you dip your toes in the river. That's fun. And if you have a head for heights and are up for an interesting drive, the Akkaya Garden restaurant is the one to find for an evening meal. Book and ask for a table in the storks nest.

Should you fancy a detour after visiting Patara, please go to Letoon - a small but happy and interesting site. The ticket man is delightful and will be so pleased to welcome you.

One more hint. There is a secret place not too far from the airport. Promise you won't tell everyone. There is a road that runs behind Dalaman airport and leads you up the mountains, past some beautiful lakes and ends at a place called Sarsala Koyu. It's worth the drive. (Don't trust the road maps. Good for guidance but your own sense of direction should be tuned in).

My stay was for four nights. Forty would have been better. Treat yourself to a stay at the Villa Turkuaz and enjoy and indulge in it all.

“Stunning villa, fabulous views and wonderfully quiet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013 for a stay in October 2012

The villa is a short 15 minute drive from Dalaman Airport. It's a very secluded location high up a hill track - walkable and driveable - and the elevation gives stunning views down to the sea. There are another couple of villas close by but that's about it. It's a very quiet and peaceful setting for anyone that wants to get away from the crowd. The village is an easy twenty minute walk and has small supermarkets, bars and restaurants. We'd suggest hiring a car and exploring the area.
The villa is new and well finished - the kitchen is well stocked with every piece of equipment you'll need and we ate out on the terrace rather than using the dining table. Bedrooms and bathrooms are smart and spacious and the air conditioning works well. The infinity pool is an ideal size for a small group and there are nice terrace areas to the front and back of the property. As you'd expect of a property built on a hillside there are steps between the levels so wheelchair access would be difficult. The garden is newly planted but the villa has pine woods to the side and rear. We had a great time just chilling and can't wait to go back.
