The bus transfer does take a long time, so if possible hire a car, but when you get there the hotel is of a very good standard and when we arrived late in the evening (after the food serving had finished) the staff put on some food for us. We did not have a problem with the food being cold and found that there was a good variety. The hotel staff were very friendly and in contrast to other reviewers we did not find that the animation events were German orientated and the animation team spoke many languages and worked hard to include all the guests in the activities. There is not much in the surrounding area outside of the hotel, so this is a resort more for those wanting a quiet hotel based break, but there is a pretty resort called Morro Jable with several shops, bars and restaurants only about 20 minutes away by bus.

The view of the beach from the hotel pools is stunning; the two pools are cold but refreshing after sunbathing and a decent size. If you want a warmer swim there is a good sized indoor pool and I enjoyed using the sauna and thankfully there were no naked people and signs prohibiting this, so this must have changed since previous reviewers commented about this! The sauna is only open from 4-8pm at night however, so if you have a cold or rainy day you have to wait till evening to use it. The beach is down a steep walk, but there are steps on a parallel path that might be easier for people with walking difficulties. The view whilst walking down to the beach is impressive and the chipmunks that you can feed on the way are very tame and cute. Although there were many nudists on the beach, they did not bother us and as two females felt safe on the beach.

There are only two things that stopped me giving this hotel full marks, firstly unlike other all inclusive resorts I've visited, there is lack of food in the afternoon in between meals, for example the snack bar is only open 4-5, so if you miss that then you have a long wait until dinner at 7pm. Similarly there is no food available in a late night snack bar, however this seems similar to other European All Inclusive resorts I've visited.

Secondly, it would help to have more water containers dotted around the resort as when the bar is shut (where you can fill your water bottle), you have to do this from the canteen and I felt slightly awkward doing this after was told off by a guest while filling up my water bottle. However I continued to do this for our week stay, as I don't drink much alcohol and consider free water a basic whilst on an all inclusive deal and refused to pay for a bottle of water from reception.

Room Tip: We asked for a first floor room and so were not looked in on as other rooms appeared to be (as groun...

Was here for a week at the end of march. The transfer was just about 1 hour.It was very, very windy for half the week so we did not use the outside pools but we used the inside one which was fine. The room was ok,but the towels only changed 3 times in the week. There was a bath with a shower also a seperate shower cubicle.Just one more thing about the room we went for a sea veiw it costs a bit more, but as there is only two levels the ground floor has got no veiw at all. There is a lot of talk about the walk to and from the beach I'll not kid you it is a bit a walk but if you just take your time It's no problem. The beach is nice white sand but there are lots of rocks in and about the water edge. When you go to the beach you have to visit the beach bar 100 m to your left when you get down there, great food and even better champagne sangeria. The food in the hotel we found ok just the usaul all inclusive it was a bit cold at times but we just put in the microwave .Do not moan it is a spanish 4star if you want better pay for a 5 star. The drinks at the bar were good not watered down.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view .

went for a week(march 19th) and was impressed with the 2 big pools,1 indoor pool, sauna, gym, good weather and nice beach.very clean, basic room, good food(could be hit and miss),transfer was about an hour from airport, and if your looking for brits to tak to your out of luck,70% german,25% italian & 5% everything else, met 6 people from about 200 who were english.its a couples place, and if your looking for night life, your out of luck!! down to the fact theres only 1 english bar in jandia(7 euro taxi away) and it just didnt seem that way to me.the entertainment at the hotel was poor apart from a good donna summer act,the germans are a funny bunch & they seemed to like it cos there still stuck in the 80s!!!!beer was good and they like to put loads of alcohol in your cocktails, they arent shy.getting to the beach is a 10 min walk, and if you have bad legs getting there and back could be difficult due to steep bank!! but lovely beach and sea.water was not free at hotel apart from at the bar.overall holiday was good, and if your looking for a relaxing stress free holiday this is the place.can get windy but weather overall was brilliant, must of been 25degrees everyday.lowcost holidays do great deals, cost us 350 for all inclusive, included flights from birmingham and transfers.

Room Tip: try and get a room in sixes!trust me

got back on 29th of feb 2012. the transfer was just short of 2hrs which is a drag. The hotel itself was fine as were most of the staff, the biggest let down was the food. Every meal on offer was cold!! and very little choice same thing every night, lots of tastless pasta and rice dishes and tended to be over cooked. as mentioned by others the animation team were very poor and aimed at the spanish. italian and german visitors.not value for money-shop around you can find better.

Room Tip: ask for top floor as ground floor have path-ways going to the beach so you are looked in on

Visited last June (2011) with boy boyfriend for 7 nights. We had an amazing stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone! The main areas of the hotel are beautiful, spotlessly clean, with wonderful views of the sea, and beautiful pool area. The rooms are lovely a clean too, and although we didn't have any view from our balcony this didn't matter to us.
This is the first time I have been on an all inclusive holiday, and it was brilliant, the food was pretty samey but with fish, chicken and pasta options each night there was plenty to choose from. I have travelled in Africa and Oz and if you want to experience local food and culture, you don't go to an all inclusive hotel, you go and stay in eat in the places that the local people do!
But we wanted to just have a chilled out week in the sun with a beautiful view and that's what we got! The beach is down a steep path, but worth it, just be prepared for some naked old folk!
The entertainment isn't all that, but it's light hearted and enjoyable, plus with a pack of cards and a few all inclusive cocktails who needs the entertainment! Would definitely recommend for a relaxing week in the sun!

Twice now I have been to the Ambar Beach and twice now I have been very happy. First the food, good variety, sometimes could be hotter but most days ok (microwave on hand if needed). Drinks, good choice and not watered down spirits nor the wine which is opened by the bottle in front of you, the coffee is good even if it is from a machine, the tea not as good. Beds, mmmmmm bit hard but ok. Staff, simply can not fault them. The hotel is on a hill but it's a nice walk down to the beach not so much on the way back up lol. To all those who were not aware this is a German owned and run hotel blame your travel agent for not telling you! not the hotel. To those who comment about people using the sauna nude, they have two saunas one nude mixed sex and one clothed mixed sex and they have signs outside them saying so. We paid £250 each for the hotel for the 7 nights that's £35.71 a day to include all food and drinks and a room to sleep in, try getting just a room in the UK for that never mind food and drink. Some people ask me why I don't go on holiday with my fellow Brits in Corralejo or Calleta well to tell you the truth they just complain to much. Any questions please ask me LordRWHoward@aol.com

Room Tip: Go for the sea view, the garden view is ok but not much sun as all rooms face the sea but the sea vi...
