“Great choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

My fiance visited me in the Dominican Republic and we wanted a relaxed low pressure budget weekend. We spent 4 nights at Villa Iguana. We stayed in a comfort double with air conditioning and were very pleased with the accommodations. Very clean and simple. Very close to the nearby grocery, the beach, and walking distance to the many water activities available in the town, without the hassle of an all-inclusive. The breakfast included toast, fruit, cheese and some deli meat, a hard boiled egg, juice and coffee and tea. Cannot pay with credit card but there are ATMs in the town. They speak (at least) English, German and Spanish at the hotel.

Room Tip: splurge on a room with air conditioning, it is a very hot country

Nice little hotel in the middle of the town, close to the beach, restaurants and other activities. It is comfortable and cozy with very nice breakfasts. An easygoing place to have a quiet and peaceful time in Bayahibe.

I spent 10 days in January 2013 at villa Iguana in Bayahibe (Republic Dominican). The villa is ideally situated near the center of the village and close to the beaches. The room I had on the second level was very quiet and spacious with a kitchen to prepare the breakfast. The room was made every day and the villa is very clean; Proprietors were helpful for non speaking Spanish people like me. I recommend this villa especially if you are diving.

Room Tip: Rooms on second level

I was warned about Bayahibe by some friends to be prepared for a noisy night.
We stayed on the 3th floor in what appeared to be a brand new room.
Very nice and clean bathroom. Own private terrace. Small fridge, TV, AC, safe and a double bed.

Room Tip: Ask for the new room with the terrace.

We were a group of 14 college students and 2 adults staying here for our first two nights in the Dominican Republic. The owners were very accommodating to our group, particularly since we were large, relative to the size of the place. They even served us breakfast an hour and a half before their regular 8:00 start time to accommodate our early departure time on our last day there. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. The location off of the "main road" (it's a pretty small town) was nice, although you could still hear the music and scooters from the local colmado. Probably the case anywhere in Bayahibe... Having WiFi available on the patio was a plus, as we did not have access to the internet in many of the locations on our month-long visit to the DR. I definitely plan to return to Villa Iguana with my family in the future.

Room Tip: Only a few of the rooms have air conditioning, so be sure to ask about that.

I stayed two nights at Villa Iguana, in June 2011. It was a very good choice. As I really hate huge beach resorts I was searching something smaller and far from All-inclusive hotels. Bayhibe still maintains its intimate and informal charm. The Villa and its staff are easy going, helpful and discrete. You can communicate there in German and French, and obviously in English and Spanish. It is located few minutes from the village centre, and from the seaside (beach and harbour). The bus stop and shops are also easy to reach. Breakfast and cleanness were ok.
They offered me a very good price, though I was not intending to stay there a full week.
Nice, calm, well-maintained and pretty budget place close to the famous Parque Nacional del Este!

We tried this place despite some negative feedback from others. The owners were extremely helpful and the staff friendly.
It gets a little noisy sometimes (roosters, dogs, music) but I expect that in the middle of a village.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed at the apartment on the second floor. The photos on the hotel's website do actually re...
