We stayed 4 nights at the resort as a quick get away without the kids. Wanted to check it out for a later trip with the kids. Check in was very smooth and all the staff throughout the stay were fabulous. The rooms were fine and clean, beds are a bit hard. Everytime I used my blowdryer we blew a circuit which made getting ready a bit tough when we had to keep flipping the breaker back on.
There are lots of waitress here and very little waiting in line for drinks at the bars. We tried 4 of the restaurants. Very very disappointed with the Mexican one. Nothing special or really different from the buffet. Many of the restaurants you serve yourselves at the salad bar which really is not a true el a carte. Also you go get your own desert. We were overall very disappointed with the food quality and lack of atmosphere at the restaurants. The Mexican, Steak and others are actually down by the beach area and serve morning and lunch time buffets and at night become a sit down restaurant. Japanese one was a good time but did not feel so good the next day, some tummy issues. French restaurant was much better and food was good. Overall I thought the buffets could have been better and more options. Would liked to have been able to see where the water actually came from as there was no signs of bottled water anywhere except our room. Even at the bars could only get water from machine, so no way of knowing if safe to drink or not. Found the food to be not hot, just warm.
Ice cream station by pool was nice, and even nicer to have someone serving you vs everyone sticking there hands into ice cream buckets like at the buffets. Would have been nicer at the buffets to actually see a machine that dispenses ice cream and you could have added your own toppings. There was fresh juice every morning but we are used to going to resorts where they will actually make you whatever kind of fruit smoothy you want. Aslo if you want coffee to go you will take it out in a regular water glass vs a cup without a lid. I realize it is probably more eco friendly but really missed this option of getting coffee in a cup to go.
We usually stay at five star resorts but felt that because we were only going with the two of us vs the whole family we would try the lindo. Maybe things are better at the maya and hopefully at the grand, looking back wish we would have choose that one.
The pools are nice and clean but good luck getting chairs there if you do not go out and reserve spots early in morning. Found that the beach could also have used a few more chairs. Learned our lesson after going to the beach the first day in the morning and trying to go to pool in afternoon. No chairs available. Really need to invest in more chairs as many were empty with peoples things on them but no where in site for hours. Lazy river is very slow. Kiddie pool looked ok for little ones. Water park looked average. Wave pool was a bit of a disappointment as it only runs a few times per day, not constant. My 4 kids would have been extremely disappointed by this if they were there.
Beach was nice and fairly clean. Lunchtime served here again same issue food not hot. Burgers were cooked and then sat there waiting to be eaten but not kept hot. Biggest complaint about beach was lack of washrooms. There were 2 stalls and they were tiny, good luck getting a child and adult in if needed. Also big lines at ladies. Really need to add more facilities.
Tried the kayaks one day and this was fine.
Nightime shows were good on some days, and a bit lacking on others. Rock show was good.
Shopping centre where you can go and get crepes was nice but had to walk over there vs it being close to other food places.
We have stayed at many resorts over the years, was our first time at iberostar but were certainly not wowed by any means. If you are looking at taking a family be aware no elevators here at lindo could be issues with strollers. If we took kids again we would go back to Barcelo tropical or palace as kiddie pools/waterparks are much nicer and food is way better. Can not say enough positive things about all the staff, very helpful and friendly.
