Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us on TripAdvisor.

We are happy that our friendly staff, our facilities and our beautiful beach met your expectations.

At IBEROSTAR we try to make the experiences of our guests the as comfortable as possible; when we receive vegetarian guests; we always recommend to contact their concierge to inform them so that they can contact to our Executive Chef so that his team can help our guests with the selection. We can also write a letter in Spanish for our guests to take to each restaurant to make sure they are looked after. We feel sorry about this; our Executive Chef will be informed about it to take into account.

We are quite confident that you will be returning to our beautiful resort; we sincerely hope to welcome you back in the near future!

Sincerely yours,

I am writing this for the people who have not been here before; don't be fooled by Lindo having a higher rating than Maya! We stayed in a regular room at Lindo the first time and it was fine, but the last two times we have stayed at the Maya and will continue to stay there (unless we come without the kid and then would try the Grand). First the Mayo is newer and has access to more/better restaurants and it is ALL Suites (some with private pools). Lindo has some suites, but they were as much or more than the Mays (when we checked) so the Maya was the obvious choice. Any normal person should not have any problem eating and drinking as much as they like. Any savvy TripAdvisor reader should be able to weed through the unrealistic expectations that some people write. Yes, expect to do some walking, something that is very much needed when you partake in all of the food available. Speaking of which, you can get a Lobster ommlete every morning if you want to. Is the place perfect? no, but anyone with realistic expectations, unless they live in a mansion, should love this place, you can't be overly picky, just enjoy..! Not sure when but I am sure we will be back for a forth time, Iberostar is VERY ADDICTIVE, every spring I start dreaming about returning...!

I recently stayed at the Maya for my wedding. We had about 60 guests there for the event. I can't say enough good things about the wedding staff. Lily and her staff were excellent. Extremely attentive, organized and professional. The accommodations were great and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful affair. If you're planning a wedding here, make sure all of your guests stay at the hotel where the wedding will take place. There are fees for anyone not staying at the hotel where the wedding takes place, including other Iberostar properties, and management is not flexible at all on this issue, no matter how much money you're spending on the wedding. Also, we had issues with the final bill. It was presented to us in Spanish and pesos, making it difficult to verify. We found a couple of mistakes that have yet to be resolved by the hotel weeks later, thus marring an otherwise wonderful experience.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for choosing us to celebrate a memorable and unique celebration such as your wedding.

We are happy to hear that Ms. Lily and her team made you feel relaxed during all the wedding preparations and also during your celebration.

On the other hand, please receive our apologies about the final bill; Mexican Law dictates its presentation in Spanish and pesos, however when our guests make their payments, our staff at the front desk inform them about the current exchange rate to make it easier for our guets.

We take note of this feedback and will talk it over with our team, to see what other options we can find. Please get in touch with us to follow through the mistakes you have mentioned.

We thank you once again for your preference and we are happy you had a wonderful experience on your day. We hope to host you in the near future in the beautiful Riviera Maya.

Sincerely,

Quality Manager

Wonderful 8 days spent with my family of 5. Children ranging from 5-16 years old all had an amazing time. I am in the travel industry, so I am very particular, but I can honestly say I don't have many complaints. The weather was not ideal (but the hotel can't change that!) we still had a good time in the rain. We were in building 66 on the third floor and the elevators didn't work for the first 2 or 3 days. Maya is the only section that has elevators so this was an inconvenience until it was finally repaired. The Beds are hard, but for us they weren't unbearable. There was always someone at the concierge desk in our Building 66, but the only one that sticks out for me was Estefania. She was amazing (and Pregnant!), helpful, thoughtful and always went out of her way to help with your reservations for restaurants or anything your heart desires. The suites (2 adjoining) were clean and beautiful but the sofa did not open to a bed. My 16 year old was not happy sleeping with her baby brother! Make sure to ask about this if you need a sofa sleeper. As many reviews will tell you the complex is very large. Everyone has an opinion on what is the best building to ask for. But, it is up to you to know your needs. For instance, if you have little children, building 65/66 is right behind the Pirate ship and the playground of the Lindo and the Kids club. It also has a baby feeding room to make bottles and food for baby. It may be a longer walk to the main pool and beach, but it is closest to the Main bar/Lobby/Maya restaurants/Lindo buffet and Theater. So after a long day there is a short walk with the children to your room at night. 64/63 is closer to main pool. 60/61 nearer to beach, far walk in the evening to the Show and Maya Lobby.

FOOD: Don't take reviews of bad food so seriously... Nothing is BAD, yes maybe not to your taste, yes maybe DIFFERENT than what we are used to. We found the food the be VERY GOOD. We tried all the Maya al a carte restaurants, except the French/Gourmet (children under 5 not allowed). Breakfast: at the La Marina and very nice, but for variety we alternated with the Lindo Buffet Breakfast which has more options. Both will make you fresh omelets to your liking and don't pass on trying the Nutella pancakes. The fellow at the Lindo made them like a crepe with the Nutella or Caramel in the middle... Heavenly! Lunch: for lunch some days we enjoyed the BBQ buffet at the beach. The burgers, churizo, guacamole, fresh salsa, chips and cheese were Great! Wednesdays they do Paella on the beach.. Don't miss it! Fantastic! The buffet restaurant on the Lindo side of pool had a Taco station for lunch, where the Lunch at the Mexicana (Maya side of pool) did not.... other than that they were similar and we mixed it up... this way you don't get bored. Dinner: the Steakhouse is OK... IF YOU LIKE Steak! Tenderloin best choice. La Marina (seafood) is very good. The Lobster/Steak combo is your best choice here. It's a limited menu and shares the same buffet with the Steakhouse. If you'd like you can just go there for the buffet only. When we wanted buffet for dinner we preferred the Lindo buffet. There were more choices for the kids. The Maya is limited and more "upscale" foods, that the kids may not care for. The Japanese restaurant (la Keisha) was fun, food was good, but nothing to rave about. We tried the Cajun restaurant at the Lindo. You start off with a small salad bar./appetizers (good coconut shrimp) and then you order from Menu. The Halibut over grilled pineapple was Delicious. We also tried the Brazilian at the Del Mar. If you are a meat Lover, you will enjoy it. This was my husbands favorite. I recommend you try something different every night and try restaurants at the other properties The "best" restaurants are not necessarily at the Maya. You can not get bored with the food. There are endless options. Also, one to mention the hostesses that seat you.. very nice, always friendly, especially Valaria... what a sweetheart!

BARS/DRINKS: All the bars are good. The snake bar is beautiful. They serve popcorn (my son loved that!) and have nightly entertainment. My favorite drink that was made for me was the Mojito... any other sweet, fruity drinks didn't taste too good, probably due to the brands they are using.. If you want top shelf YOU MUST ASK FOR IT! My second favorite drink was the mud slide... I ask them to use Kahlua not their no brand coffee liquor and it was MUCH better! All servers were nice and kind. I only had one bad experience and it was at the swim up bar in the pool... I believe the servers name was PEDRO and he made an insulting comment to me. It really bothered me, but I figured why complain! Other than that all other servers were nice.

POOLS/BEACH/GROUNDS: FABULOUS, clean, well maintained. endless hours of fun. The Wave Pool and lazy River are fun. Take a walk and visit the Beach/Del Mar pools. Don't forget to bring floats (you can blow them up at the gift shop or towel shack) and sunscreen. The gift shop at Maya is very expensive The beach is beautiful. If you don't like waves/rough waters it isn't for you. But, it is clean (water a little rocky in some spots). the chairs and Palapas comfortable. And the Beach Bar/food Great! ICE CREAM!!! There is ice cream everywhere! So kids are in their Glory. Only complaint. The ice cream at the beach was not kept cold enough and it was like soup. hopefully, IB can come up with something in the future for a better freezer for the Ice cream. The only place the Ice Cream was solid was in the Ice Cream shop above the Pool. The Mango and Lime is delicious.

STAR FRIENDS: THIS TEAM IS AMAZING! They work so hard, long hours, day and night. They are always there to put a smile on your face. My older girls had a blast playing pool games and volleyball with them. Alex, Martino, Xaviar to name a few.. just amazing guys and so much fun. I thank them all for what they do. They give so much of themselves.

SPA: When you stay at the Maya you have access to the spa. (message services are extra) Don't miss out on this. The Sauna, Steam room, different kinds of Jacuzzi, pools.. just amazing. Stop by and have a fresh fruit/veggie drink on your way out.

I'm leaving out so much, but feel free to email me with any questions! Overall, we had a fabulous time! And will return to the Iberostar! I recommend it for families.

Room Tip: 65/66 for families with young children. Behind Pirate ship. Nice short walk back to room from Theate...

Dear guest,

On behalf of the General Manager of our resort, please allow us to express our genuine gratitude for choosing our resort this time for your recent vacations.

We regret if you were disappointed with our system of our transportation; at IBEROSTAR We have a train going back and forth and we also have golf carts driven by our bell boys. We are happy to tell you that we have just bought new golf carts for our guests comfort and are working on making this service more efficient. You can also pre-program a ride with the Concierge and wait comfortably in your room until it arrives. Our sister resorts (IBEROSTAR Paraiso del Mar & Beach, and Lindo) have their own bellboys, so when one of our guests wish to visit these hotels, we can have one of them assisting you.

In regard to our restaurants, we know that they are popular in our resort that is why we recommend our guests to make their three dinner reservations in advance, and make the rest of them with the concierge. We are sorry if this caused you an inconvenience.

We hope you give us another opportunity in the future to change your point of view regarding the above mentioned services.

Warm regards,

Quality Manager

We spent a week in the Maya hotel as a family with ages ranging from 1 yo up to grandparents. There are many reviews of the hotel itself, the pools, the beach, and the food so we wanted to give a few tips to those who are staying at the Maya. The Maya is part of the Iberostar complex and is the most expensive family hotel (Grand is more expensive but is adults only and is cut off from the other 4 hotels). As guests of the Maya you are able to access all 4 of the hotels on the property (Maya, Lindo, Beach, and Mar) including all their restaurants and bars.

Additionally guests of the Maya have full free access to the Spa (not the treatments, just the facility) which is AMAZING! If you are staying at the Maya make sure to wander over to the Spa- there is a huge saline pool with multiple jets that massage various regions of your body, chairs to lie in, an outdoor foot bath experience, 7 different jacuzzi pools, and 3 different spa showers you can use. The locker rooms are seperated by gender but all the rest is co-ed. Because guests of the other hotels must pay to use these facilities it was virtually empty while we were there. Make sure to ask for a tour so they can explain to you how to use all the different features (some are hidden). Make sure to enjoy the fresh juice bar which is inside the spa (you pick your fruits and veggies and they make your juice fresh).

We fully enjoyed trying out the restaurants in the other hotels. The Maya staff repeatedly told us the Maya food was better but we decided to venture out anyways and we were so glad we did! The lunch buffet in the Paraiso Beach hotel was the BEST! Much much better than the Maya lunch- it has an italian station with a real Italian chef who was so sweet and makes fresh pizza and pasta, a carving station, a mexican station with good mexican food and many many options. We also tried out Brazilian restaurant in the Mar hotel and the Cajun restaurant in the Lindo hotel. Strongly recommend trying out the food in the various hotels. The food overall was good- the one part lacking is the sauces in the a la carte restaurants. The japanese had no sauces for dipping, and the brazilian restaurant sauces (Chimichurri etc) were awful. We did not get a chance to try the Museo restaurant in the Lindo or the Italian La Laguna but I wish we had. Also we found out too late that the seafood restaurant in the Mar hotel was one of the best, but again we didn't get to try it because of time.

Along the same note- we really enjoyed the pool on the Beach/Mar side of the hotel. This pool has queen size shaded beach beds. Since we had our 1 yo baby with us the beds were fantastic! Some are hanging beds and some are stable with a post all the way around which helps little crawling people not fall off. As our little guy was waking up very early every morning we would take him for a walk on the beach and reserve a bed by dumping some toys on it. The beds were really a lifesaver because 4-5 people could all pile on and interact with the baby. Several beds were by zero entry entrances to the pool, which was also nice. We used one of these beds as our home base every day so when various groups would go eat or to the spa or beach we could always find each other.

There are also about 8 beds on the beach along the Mar side of the hotel. The best way to find them is to use the Mar exit to the beach and the beds are on your right side as you face the ocean. These beds have some shade and are pretty close to the bar, food, and bathrooms so they were also nice. It was slightly weird to me that the nicest parts of the hotel (the Maya) did not have the nicest options (the beds).

The Maya is also the only hotel that has an elevator which we used all the time with the stroller. Other tips for traveling with babies- put the baby to bed/naps in the bathroom and bring your own white noise machine. Our little guy is a light sleeper so we requested the 3rd floor which was great, but hard to access without the elevator. There are no freezer section within the fridge in the room so if you bring ice packs to keep your baby's milk cold you will have to ask the restaurants to refreeze for you (they sort of looked at us funny). There was also no water kettle in the room and none available by request (only a coffee maker) so we ended up having to use the coffee maker to heat water to make our son's milk.

Our concierge in building 60 Evangelina was AMAZING! She was such a sweetheart always helping us make reservations, fix the elevator, bring us ice and hot water, and overall she went way above and beyond. Thank you Eva!

Overall our week was wonderful and we really enjoyed this resort.

A few disappointing things:

1. We were really looking forward to the paella on the beach as part of the beach party activity on Weds midday. We specifically asked about it when we checked in on Sat and were told Weds. I saw that Monday also had a beach party activity and asked about that day and were told no paella on Monday (only Weds). We purposefully made plans to stay at the hotel on Weds (no excursions) so we could enjoy the paella and at the last minute we found out they had cancelled it because there were not enough guests in the hotel. They also told us at that point (on Weds) that we should have gone to the beach party on Monday which did in fact happen and yes did have paella. This was very disappointing to us because we had specifically asked for it, waited for it, and also specifically asked about Monday. We understand if the hotel decides to cancel activities because of capacity issues but it would be great if they could notify people the day before at least so they can make other plans.

2. Some of the cars and go carts did not have headlights that worked at night which is dangerous for those walking and pushing strollers along the paths at night.

Overall we would highly recommend this resort. We enjoyed the Maya for all the extra benefits and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Based on previous reviews we stayed in building 60 on the 3rd floor. It was close to the beach and p...

Dear guest,

On behalf of the General Manager of our resort, please allow us to express our genuine gratitude for choosing our resort this time for your Caribbean experience.

We are very happy to read that you took advantage of our facilities and also tried the facilities of our sister resorts. We feel proud to hear that our staff did their best to help you to have a memorable stay, especially Ms. Eva, your Concierge, who will receive your review.

We are sorry you missed the paella on the beach; our chef usually makes this on Wednesday. Please receive our apologies; your frustration is totally understandable. We will review this with the Department to avoid disappointing our guests.

Your comment about our golf carts strikes us because we are very careful with their maintenance; however, we appreciate you letting us know about it. We have already notified our maintenance department to ensure this does not happen.

We genuinely hope to be able to offer you our hospitality again in the near future and as such, look forward to your next visit.

Kind Regards,

This was our first trip to Mexico as a family and my two daughters, 6 and 8, were really impressed. The pools were super fun and there were so many! The beach was beautiful and we enjoyed the fun activities the Star Friends put on throughout our trip. Thank you for a wonderful time!
