We just came back from a week vacation at this resort. All in all it was a nice relaxing vacation, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Below is a breakdown of overall ratings for the various areas of the resort.
Condition/Upkeep/Maintenance Staff: 10/10 - Overall the resort is kept very nicely. The pools are always clean, the grounds are unbelievable, and the room cleaners do a great job. The resort itself is huge but somehow they manage to stay on top of it keeping it very clean. The resort is beautiful.
Resort: 9/10 - Overall the resort is very nice. There are lots of pools, nice restaurants, a spa, shops, and excursions that can be booked through the resort. The resort is huge so if you are an elderly couple I would think twice before coming here as you have to walk a lot to get to different places around the resort. In one of the stores they have a small grocery department which is nice, fresh coffee, snacks, and a jewelry shop. All in all the resort is one of the best we have stayed at so far, it was really nice.
Beach: 1/10 - The only time we even went to the beach was the first day we got there to check it out. There isnt much of a beach, it consists of huge rocks that make it impossible to go out into the ocean. They line the beach and even into the water. My friend and I went snorkeling and there are rocks all the way out like 100yds from the shoreline. It was very disappointing to say the least but other reviewers have pointed this out as well. I suppose you could hangout in the cabanas/chairs at the beach however that didnt appease to us as we couldnt get in the water. The sand itself is decent, its not soft as its made up of a lot of tiny rocks and corral. Overall it was disappointing but it didnt ruin the vacation. If you are looking for a resort with a nice beach, do not come here.
Restuarants: 10/10 - Overall the food was very good. They have italian, japanese, a ceviche bar, mexican, and american. Every restaurant we ate at was great, we never had a bad meal. The prices are pretty reasonable to be honest, I wasnt shocked at all by the prices. They have a nice variety and at all hours you can find at least a couple open.
Golf: 1/10 - This golf course was probably the worst course I have ever golfed at. Its a Par 3, 18 hole course, but the course itself is in terrible condition. The greens are the worse, they have sand all over them making it nearly impossible to make a putt over 4ft. The clubs you can rent are decent, but bring extra water as you are only given a small bottle and there are no refill stations on the course. I wouldnt recommend you spending $55/person to golf here, save it until you go back home. If you do decide to go, bring golf balls and a glove as these are also additional $$$ if you forget it.
Staff: 5/10 - Overall the staff at the resort is very friendly and nice. For them I would give them a 10/10 as they were very accomodating and were of great assistance. The only downfall is the sales people. They literally have a staff of about 50 employees who are solely responsible for selling timeshares. Luckily we got this "meeting" over on the morning of our first day, but we literally had to sit through a 3hr presentation and went through 5 employees after telling them all "NO" we will not but a timeshare. We were here because we used my friends grandparents timeshare to stay, but they still try to sell you on this and its very annoying. It did get us 10% off our bill, a free visit to Tulum, and a free breakfast however you will waste a good portion of your day sitting through this. I think they would be better off cutting all this staff, hiring only a couple of people so that once you arent hounded and actually want to buy a timeshare you could approach them instead of vice versa which leaves an unpleasant experience.
Again all in all we had a great week long vacation, the resort is beautiful, the grounds are nice, the beach is terrible but if you plan on relaxing at the resort pools and maybe going to see other beaches this resort would fit the bill.
