“exellent hotel”

We have been in this hotel 6 years in a row. Sometimes twice a year for a long periode of three weeks. For us it is our second home. We are spoiled there by every one working in this hotel. This year we saw that more little things has changed in a good manner. At this moment they are making repairs of the buildings, When the weather is very bad and that can happen even for a week there can be some flooting. But that is the only negative thing. The food is excellent very different restaurants. and there is a personal attention for all there guests.

Room Tip: Every room has the same quality but the ocean view is extra ordinairy. Those rooms are a little more...

It is always our pleasure to have our dearest guests back and contribute to creating lovely memories; thank you for noticing the changes we have been making around, such as the new Mexican restaurant, the purchase of more and better sun chairs, our new 24 hours Lobby Bar and last but not least the maintenance we have been doing around the Hotel in order to provide our guests the best facilities and service.

We love The Grand and keep going back for more.
Service and accommodations were incredible A few things have changed since 2010...
They used to make the best poolside Kobe burger around, but we found they have resorted to a standard pre made patty, that wasn't "bad" but not what it used to be.
Thats the ONLY complaint.
We will go back again and again. Food, servers, butlers, star friends...they really go out of their way to accommodate.
Book ocean front- just do it.

We had been vacationing at this Iberostar Grand for several years and two years ago thought it was beginning to show signs of wear. So last year we skipped the Grand and went to another property that was in the same area, and although it was good it did not compare to what we had experienced at the Grand. Last week we (eight of us) returned to the Iberostar Grand to find that a tremendous amount of work had been done to both the interior and the exterior. The place looked really "Grand".
The restaraunts were still amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed the Surf and Turf, Japanese, Mexican and Italian dining. The quality of both food and service were over the top.
I must say that after having enjoyed the Grand for a number of years we have been able to get to know a number of the staff and their level of attention and service, which has always been outstanding, has only improved with age.

All eight of us felt that we had everything we wanted, location, property, food, accommodations and service, all delivered in an un assuming way.

The food, atmosphere and cleanliness of this resort were what made it a great trip, but the impeccable service is what made it an amazing experience that we will sure to be back for! Highly recommended!

Everything was unbelievable. From the moment I arrived and they met me at the door with a cocktail, to the minute I left, everything was wonderful. Now I'm not easily excited about where I stay. Most times anything will do. Not anymore. This place was spotless, beautiful, elegant, right on the beach, and the staff was over the top. They do not allow children, which at the time I didn't really care, but having experienced it, it was heaven. No kids jumping in and out of the pool, none running around and screaming. The room was perfect. The minute I left the room, they would come in and clean up. Not just once a day, but several times a day. I stayed in a beach front room that comes with butler service. Nice, but a little over the top for me. I'm just not that demanding. Still it is nice that they really want to please you. They had 4 restaurants plus buffets all included. When I ate at the restaurants, you must make reservations. It was difficult to make a same day reservation, yet when I went to the restaurant they were half empty??? Maybe it's there way of controlling how many people eat there. No big deal because the buffets were great. They seat you at a cloth covered table, pull out your chair, place your napkin on your lap, take your drink order then you go to the buffet. The food was excellent and soooo much to chose from. I think I had lobster almost every day. Plus they will cook steaks (New York steak, Filet Mignon, Ribeye), pasta, eggs, all to order. The buffet have a theme of the night but most foods are available. Mexican night includes a Mariachi Band that was very fun. If you can afford it, stay at the ocean front rooms the view is unbelieveable. I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Get an ocean front room if you can afford it. Beautiful views.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Grand 4 years ago and it was amazing. My wife and I along with another couple stayed 5 nights this past week and it was just amazing as the first trip. You could not ask for better service. Anytime we felt we needed something a butler would show up with it. Our balcony over looked the tranquility pool and was very centrally located to the restaurants, lobby bar, spa, and pools (building 72). The staff really goes out of their way to make sure you are happy. Our butler Ceasar was great and was very personable. The star friends staff Evaleyn was great and really made all the activities enjoyable. Felix one of our waiters and manager of the Mexican restaurant even attempted to make a dessert for my wife that was not on the menu as a special request. He does a great job is very professional and takes his job very serious. It again will be very hard not to choose this place over and over again. We will stick with what we know and what we like.

Room Tip: Building 72 on the tranquility pool side was great for us.

We have stayed at the Iberostar Resorts about 16 times now (Tucan, Quetzal, Beach, Del Mar and Lindo). they should have a rewards program. Our last stay, my husband surprised me with a trip to the Grand for our 25th wedding anniversary, May 10 to the 14th. When we arrived our room was not ready and then he tried to upgrade. No one could seem to tell us anything. The room was reserved months in advanced, not like we just showed up. We waiting and waited, final got to the room which was nice, still wish we could have upgraded. Had an issue with our key, was told they would take care of it and to come back later. We did, 3 times and no one knew about it. I had my key so it was ok, but kind of a hassle to have to repeat our story. Food was ok, just need to learn to use some seasoning. Some friends complained about the yogurt (it was like soup) they were told to go to the store and buy it if they didn't like what was served. Not a way to treat your guest!There was one night that we had really bad service at one of the restaurants our waiter never came to our table. We ended up leaving. I did have an issue about the music at the main pool. There was background music playing then when the Star Friends would come out they would play music really loud over that music, but they would turn it on and off. Was so annoying it would give you a headache. Just play one music at a time. And then some of the songs were screaming obscenities. I guess they don't listen to the words before they pick something to work out on or play the games. The beach was ok. It's better farther south, no rocks. On our last night we received a letter thanking us for choosing the Grand, signed by our concierge and butler. What we had a butler?!?!? No one told us that!! Would have been nice to know that when we arrived. Oh they also suggested a photo shoot. Not sure when that would have happened or how we would get our pictures. Over all we had a nice time and are willing to try again in September. Hopefully we can upgrade to a oceanfront superior suite.

With regards to your room, we would like to mention that all of our rooms are assigned upon availability and our check in time is at 3:00 p.m. Please be sure that we always do our best to assign our guests the type of room desired and at a prior time whenever possible, however this is sometimes hard due to occupancy. We apologize for the inconvenient this may have caused.

We are concerned to read about the service described and about the inconvenience experienced with the waiting service and the music, as our goal is to fulfill our guests satisfaction at all times. Also, we hasten to express our sincere regret that your visit fell below par with the butler service; it is one of our strengths.
