A lot of the previous reviews of this hotel have been quite negative and when reading them before our holiday we were quite apprehensive. However the hotel overall was quite acceptable and I feel some people forget that in many countries thier idea of 5* may greatly differ from 5* in the UK. The hotel itself is lovely and when it is totally completed with its spa and other finishing touches it will be a very attractive hotel with great facilities. The rooms are extremely comfortable but lacking in storage space. They were serviced every day with clean linen every day. The pool areas were kept beautiful, tidied at the end of each day and I also saw them mopping the tiled areas in the morning.
The food was good but not outstanding. It was clearly prepared freshly everyday but there was a real lack of variety. It became a joke by the second week amongst our family about what the 'stew surprise' would be that night! It was disappointing at the lack of proper greek food on the menu they seemed to just be trying to cater for the many nationalities staying at the hotel. It was also very disappointing that there was not, as stated on the hotel details, an ala carte restaurant which would probably help break up the monotony of stews on the buffet!!! The drinks on the inclusive were also a bit disappointing and undrinkable at times, avoid the cocktails they aren't properly done at all.
The staff on a whole were very friendly and helpful, a few a bit over worked like Tatiana who made the omlettes etc in the morn, she was very friendly and pleased if people just said 'please or thankyou', you'd be amazed how many didn't!!! Maria at the small pool bar was also extremely friendly and helpful.
On a whole we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and I think if small improvements were made it could be fantastic. Our only other warning is that during our stay in the first week we were the only british, in the second one of three families. The hotel is over run with eastern europeans, germans, italians and dutch the majority of whom had the most appalling manners, we were quite shocked at how rude they were especially to the staff.
And finally if you want to escape for food elsewhere we strongly reccommend the taverna opposite the hotel driveway, 'Nikkos and Kontessa'. Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere and the owner Nikkos is so nice and good with the kids, it is also very reasonably priced.
