My girlfriend and I visited Kos for a week and chose the hotel based on the cheap price and generally positive reviews on here.

Our plane didn't land until 5AM and by the time we arrived at the hotel we'd been travelling for 12 hours and just wanted a shower and a bed. Unfortunately the brusque lady on reception told us that the room wasn't available and that we'd have to wait for it to be cleaned, leaving us to spend the morning sleeping on sunbeds by the pool. On top of this, we were sold a room in the Panorama Suites (the nice 5* complex at the bottom of the hill) but were instead given a room in the family suites (the not-so-nice sub 5* complex at the very top of the steep hill).

We complained at the main reception about being put in the family enclosure and were constantly reassured that although it was in a different part of the complex that they shared exactly the same facilities. They eventually agreed to move us down to the nice bit of the hotel when a room became available but didn't know when that would be.

We had all of our meals served in the 5* bit and found the food to be generally poor. We were half board so got breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was geared towards their German audience and was consistently cold and unappetising. Dinner was similarly cold and had nothing to recommend it - don't expect 5* food here.

On our second day we spent an afternoon by the pool and had a few drinks at the bar there. However when we tried to put the drinks on our room we were told we couldn't do it because we were in the family suites. We had no cash and they couldn't take card payments and instead of trying to help us to pay them, the staff instead acted like it wasn't their problem and that we were trying to get away without paying. We eventually convinced them to let us speak to reception about it and I was escorted there under heavy guard to organise putting the drinks on the new room which they were organising.

They moved us to what was a very nice room in the nice bit of the hotel but the whole situation had left us really unhappy. They'd tried to stick us in a room much worse than the one we thought we were paying for and then sworn that the two rooms shared identical facilities - something which the altercation at the bar had proved was untrue. I complained to a manager there and he said he would sort out some sort of compensation. This eventually turned out to be an offer of two days of full board. Given the quality of food and drink on offer we did not think this was a very good offer. It was extended to full board for the rest of our stay.

Seeing as we were on holiday and had just been given free drinks for the rest of the week, we thought we'd try out the hotel bar that evening. Service seemed to be deliberately slow for their all-inclusive customers presumably to stop them taking advantage and drinking themselves into a coma. The drinks, when they did arrive, were poor too. Flat 'sparkling' wine sticks in my memory.

Kos was lovely but this hotel is definitely one to avoid. We felt we were lied to on several occassions and the clearly overworked staff were not keen to help us out. If you're booking here, bear in mind that you'll probably end up in accommodation different to what you pay for and it will be much worse quality than what appears to be on offer.

Just got back a yesterday from our honeymoon at the Panorama Suites. The hotel is very well presented, very clean and the staff were all fantastic. I personally booked a Junior suite and could not belive the size ! It is MASSIVE! well worth the extra money. We checked in 21.20 local time and our bags were taken to our room and we was whisked off for our food. When we got to the room the Manager had given us a free bottle of champagne as it was our honeymoon. The pool was nice and quiet and really liked the fact that the "animation team" was based at the sister hotel behind us, likewise with the evening entertainment. The beach is a little downside as its down the hill and accross a busy road onto a small private area. I would go back here and would go back to Kos but only ever for a week as there isnt much to do on the island! Oh and final point, dont book your excursions through Thomas cook! They offered us a trip to Bodrum for 90 euros where as in the harbour you can get the same trip sat next to the thomas cook customers for only 30 euros!

we arrived at the hotel around 1.00 am and were well impressed with the hotel lobby well worthy of 5 stars we thought then we met with the receptionist....he took our names and then asked us if we had confirmation of booking on us....something we've never been asked for before...all we had were our tickets which he examined carefully before seeming satisfied that we really were booked in there. he then asked if we would like something to eat and were directed to the dining room when we got there we found it to be locked so returned to reception where we were met with a shrug of the shoulders when we told the receptionist. we were then given our keys and told to wait to be shown to our room...something we can usually find for ourselves....but we thought it was hotel policy so we waited about 15 minuets and a porter arrived.....we were in 468 so getting into the lift we expected it to be 4th floor the porter pressed for the first floor where we got out and were led along a maze of corridors and then outside through some old fire doors.....across a dimly lit uneven car park and down a road (no footpath) when we came to some out buildings where we were led down some steps into a shabby corridor then the horror hit us.....ROOM 468..... The initial smell was the worst thing it smelt old and musty and the room looked like an ex self catering apartment with a kitchenette at one end. It was certainly no 5* room. It was late and decided to sleep on it cos it might look different in the morning. It didn't.....we went to try to change our room but were told that they were full and they couldn't give us another room....we saw our rep and she asked to see the room her first comment was also the smell.....our room was cleaned to a high standard everyday but the balcony was never touched and was filthy and overrun with ants.......we had a storm on the sunday and this caused the stairwell outside our room to flood thus making the stairs slippery and dangerous. on the wednesday we went to the pool area to find it had been cleared to make way for 50 - 60 dining tables we later learned that this was for a corporate event to be held that evening involving around 500 italians taking over the hotel. The food in the hotel we found to be of a high standard.....if sometimes not very warm....but on the night of the party for the italians where all the chefs were the food was revolting and inedibe....we found most of the staff very rude apart from the cleaners and the porter and a couple of the waiters in the dining room. We often stay in iberostar hotels and usually have a great time but i feel so angry about our stay here that i had to do a revue....something i've not done before......but don't let this put you off Kos it is beautiful.... just dont stay at this hotel......especially room 468 x

Just returned Sunday 19th June from a 7 day break in Kos and the Kipriotis Panorama & Suites.
Very impressive reception at 00.45 am and efficient receptionist who requested we fill in our accomodation/ booking confirmations etc. Looked at passports but was happy to hand back immediatley Told bar was shut at 12.00 but drinks in room mini bar available and free to AI guests.
Rooms - spacious and clean. Well serviced everyday and all but minibar were re-stocked (shampoos and towels etc)
Breakfast - vast selection betweenhot and cold choices - usual stuff with OK quality and efficient although often dowdy service (More a function of Eastern European culture rather than rudeness)
Lunch - Good selection form Fish - Meats hot / cold. Good salads etc. Predictable and repetative throughjout the week
Dinner - similar comments as with Luncheon.
Overall - food quality - Just OK

Facilities
Pool and reception area excellent with free WIFI and courteous, helpfull reception staff.
Spa could be more inspiring and perhaps a little cleaner.
Bar Staff generally excellent - especially the pool bar and female waiting staff at the main bar.

Overall - As expected - would not regard as 5* in any department other than the impressive reception. 3* + would be a fair assessment.
Would not go back to Kos having already done it and the attractions it has to offer so would not stay at the Panorama again.

One Gripe - paid extra for room with a sea view. Was given a room at the side of the hotel overlooking gardens and service areas, however, see view in the distance. Can not imagine that such a room justified premium payment.

Please do not be put off by what is read on this hotel, if you are realistic in expections you will not be disappointed.

I will not be writing letters of complaint - therefore testimony in itself.

For many years I have been a fan of the Iberostar chain. Sadly this hotel lets down the strong reputation of the brand. The standard of service and food is well below the 5* rating the hotel claims. There are some very strong points in its favour. The rooms are spacious and clean, we had opted for a suite and the views over the pool, beach and on to Turkey were splendid. Some of the staff are top draw, Heleni and Xristyna are worthy of any 5* establishment and deserve special praise.
On the downside, the airconditioning failed to function for the majority of our stay, the extraction system in the toilet never worked at all and the housekeeping staff took to propping open the door and leaving the balcony door ajar in order to ventilate the smell of the drains. The food in the restaurant was poor. Lack of variety, no real attempt at "show-cooking" - a feature of many Iberostar hotels - and luke warm! A real concern as the E-coli outbreak was at its peak and the hotel is frequented by a large number of germans. We were forced to ask the chef to use a probe thermometer at the hotplate and this showed that all of the meat dishes were at or below 42 degrees centigrade, 23 degrees below the legal minimum for the UK and Europe. Although All Inclusive we chose to eat out.
Service in the bar was seriously below par, taking about 40 minutes to get served unless you made a fuss. This was not the fault of the waiting staff, more an issue of management not providing adequate resource to meet demand. The drinks, when they arrived, were generally OK. Although in the final days of our stay the bar menu changed and some drinks which had been included in the AI package had been moved to the premium drinks group which incurred an extra charge. Travellers should note that Iberostar appear to have introduced a level of AI package called AI Plus, this entitles guests to a wider range of inclusive products than those staying on the standard AI package.
In two weeks we only experience 3 Greek dishes in the restaurant. Tweo of which were on the "Greek Night". The "A La Carte" restaurant is in fact a set menu, soup, tempura veg and spring rolls, sushi, fish curry and sweet and sour chicken with rice followed by a deep fried fritter and ice cream. and the menu never changed in the two weeks. And why, in Greece, is it themed as an oriental restaurant? It should be set out as a greek taverna! At least customers would have the option of local dishes.

Staff were generally polite and helpful with the exception of the pool bar where my wife found the staff to be rude. Some exceptional staff, referred to earlier, made the stay a far more acceptable experience. Children are catered for reasonably well and the clubs in te adjacent hotel are availalbe to them.

The lifeguard in the swimming pool was excellent and very professional.
There is a well stocked shop, although a little pricey, for essentials.
There appears to be a standard taxi fare of 9 Euros from the hotel to Kos Town, about 2 miles and 38-40 Euros each way to the airport.
Car hire is readily available at around 250 Euros for 7 days.
Local beaches are not great but others on the island were very good.

I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: All suites have excellent pool and sea views.

My wife and I are at the present time in the Iberostar Kipriotis Panorama Hotel, Kos and are absolutely delighted with the whole package - the food is excellently prepared with enough selection to ensure that you can eat a different meal every day; fresh linen daily in large spatious rooms and magnificent views over the sea to Turkey; staff are very friendly and very attentive. We chose this hotel as we had already stayed in other Iberostar hotels and thoroughly enjoyed our stays on each occasion, added to this the general consensus on Tripadvisor was favourable. Thank-you Tripadvisor for helping us to make the right choice.
