5* hotel? Ha! Not likely.
Based on our experience with Iberostar hotels in the past, we were expecting much more from this hotel.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, close to the beach, easy walking distance to Kos Town, but that is about it.
The hotel very obviously caters to an older, German clientele. The food is heavy, filled with cream and butter, and very bland. Greek cuisine is wonderful, and there was a noted lack of anything local. The only evening entertainment at the resort is a keyboard player we lovingly nicknamed The Barracuda for his love of cheesy suits and bad music.

We booked the hotel as an all-inclusive package, expecting the service we received at the Iberostar Varadero (an exclusively AI resort in Cuba). However, preferential treatment is given to the half-board customers as the staff received more tips from them as they were paying for drinks, food, etc at the time of purchase. At the lobby bar, a server would take our orders as soon as we sat down, but we would then wait up to 30 minutes for our drinks, while the half-board patrons would receive theirs immediately. Service at the pool bar was just as bad. One of the bartenders would not serve us because we didn't speak german.

There was also a lot of confusion as to what was actually included in our all-inclusive package. We were not able to eat at the snack bar by the pool without paying, and random drinks were not available. Internet prices were unbelievably high (8Euro for 1 hour), so to just check our email, we had to wait until we went into town, where prices at the internet cafes are much more reasonable (1Euro for 1 hour).

Based on our overall experience, we would definitely not travel to this hotel again, and do not recommend it for an all-inclusive vacation.

Excellent hotel. Thoroughly recommended for a chill out holiday. I have very high expectations with regard to cleanliness..... the hotel rooms and public areas are immaculate. We stayed in a junior suite which was perfectly acceptable for two adults, 14 and 9 year old ( plenty of space). The staff were friendly but discrete. I would rate the hotel as 4 star ++ and would definitely return if I was the type to repeat the same destination twice . It is less stuffy than some 5 star hotels and as a result we felt more at ease with the children. The food is buffet style with a vast array of salads, main courses and desserts from across europe. We loved the food, being able to sample typical greek cuisine whilst the children found less adventurous options. We were half board and found that after a huge breakfast we were more than satisfied until the evening meal, with just a light bite whilst out exploring. Unless you drink a lot and eat ice creams galore then I would say that all inclusive is not the cost effective option. Drinks at dinner two soft drinks and a caraffe of wine was about 10 - 12 euros. The hotel is well placed to visit Kos town ( a short bus ride) and Therma ( thermal springs - highly recommended). Car hire is cheaper a short walk from the hotel ( jeep jimmy 114e) and its easy to explore the rest of the island. Views over to Turkey are fabulous. Entertainment in the hotel is low key. If its a clean, upmarket but non stuffy hotel you're after , with good food, well situated to explore Kos and the surrounding area but away from any brash crowds, then I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel.

It seems a long time after to be writing this review but as I always use Tripadvisor before booking any holiday it would be a shame not to write about the hotels we have stayed in based on our people's comments. Myself and 2 children went half board to the Iberostar Panorama. 5 star is what it says on the advert and this is exactly what it is. We are very fussy about where we stay and the rooms have to be very clean as well as all the comunnual areas. When we first arrived at the hotel it was very late and we were greeted by the beautiful entrance to the hotel. We were very excited as this was a good start and you never really know how you are going to feel about a hotel until you get there. The room we had was very large with fridge and tv. bathroom had shampoo's etc for our usage along with other nik naks like sewing kits. We had an area that had a corner couch with table where we had our lunch most days to get out of the sun. We had room service everyday for lunch and this was priced at a very reasonable rate. Something like 15 euros for the 3 of us. the pool areas are very clean and our rooms where cleaned everyday with new towels provided. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner included in our price but would have been better to be all inclusive as kids wanted ice-creams and drinks throughout the day. The food was great and there was a lot of choice with 1 of us being vegetarian. The options changed every day and some food was cooked in front of you. Must say that it means you eat a lot more than you would normally do. Having a starter, main course, and then pudding which was just lovely. All different sorts of cakes which we had to try so be prepared to cut back a bit when you get home. Lots of other people were on an All inclusive bases and this worked very well with their children. This hotel is great for families but if you wanted to use the kids clubs you would have to go to the other part of the complex (think the maris) for this. My children didn't and were very happy with the facilites in the hotel, with the swimming pools and pool tables. There is a hairdresser's if you need that sort of thing on holiday and also excerise studio with treatments but we never went down to this part of the hotel. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the hotel and this takes you into Kos town where there are lots of boat trips to be had as well as an array of shops selling lots of lovely items. Went to see hippocrates tree, but took us a little bit of time to find it as it is inside the square. There are also some ruins in Kos town that are worth a visit. With being a single parent always feel a bit nervous about venturing out and about in places, but the bus takes you into the middle of Kos town and back right outside the hotel so there was no problems. There seems to be a lot of cats in Kos but as cat lovers we didn't mind. We had a couple of themed nights where dinner was served outside with entertainment provided. It was a great holiday, met some nice people, would definately go back again.

We have just returned from staying at the Iberostar Kipriotis Panorama, Kos and were delighted with this hotel as we were originally booked into the Hippocrates on the same complex but were upgraded when it closed early and we were so lucky to be put into a 5* hotel like the Panorama. The whole hotel is pure luxury with a fantastically large room with a full sea view and facing Turkey a few miles away. The staff were very friendly and greeted you immediately you appeared, the restaurant very attractive with so much food it had to be seen to be believed and yes it was a bit samey but we could always find something different each evening. We were booked on A.I which was just as well as practically the whole island was closed by the time we got there being the last week of opening so we stayed in the hotel pretty much most of the time so took full advantage of the AI package. The milk shakes were delicious and the Pina Coladas were to die for. Our room was cleaned every day and towels changed if we required them to be. We were even left towels to use at the pool and also a towelling robe. We had a well stocked mini bar in our room topped up daily. Although the entertainment was very low key you wouldn't expect anything more being the type of hotel it was but having said that the man on the electric organ was very good playing varied music which he occassionally sang to and we joined in as when we wanted to, it also mean't that if we wanted to talk we could do so without having to shout. All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday and one to remember for a very long time.

Spacious rooms (we had a junior suite) with a good view of the sea. We stayed half board and the food was very good with a variety of dishes to satisfy most tastes. Evening entertainment limited although we were at the end of season. Convenient bus service every half hour into Kos itself for a euro.Large stretch of beach just a few hundred metres from the front of the hotel but not very clean, We tended to stay by the hotel pools which were clean and with the obligatory bar adjacent. Hotel staff very helpful, would certainly recommend and return.

We booked our holiday to Kos with last minute. com for an amazing £309 incl half board, flights taxes etc so had fairly low expectations of this 5* hotel.
We were very pleasantly suprised. The hotel though not particularly attractive outside has huge marble with crystal chandeliers leather settees etc reception areas, fantastic helpful staff and our bedroom (we were upgraded to a suite at no extra charge) was large, clean comfortable with views to die for from the balcony all across the bay to Turkey 3 miles away.
Kos town was a pretty harbour 5 mins drive away with plenty of history, shops and restaurants.
We had read warnings on trip advisor to be sure that your invoice does not state Iberostar Kipriotis Panorama/ maris hotel and we were glad we did as we would have been very disappointed to have been put in the Maris (sister hotel) which was 4* and no views.
The pools and pool bars were an excellent place to relax (tho pools unheated) and dining room spacious, clean and food, buffet style and plentiful tho a little repetative.
We would certainly go back and plan to but a bit earlier than mid october as not much was going on and our trips out exploring were cancelled due to lack of numbers. I think September would be perfect hot and sunny and more going on though i imagine the hotel gets very crowded with families in the summer months

Be prepared. that is my motto for booking this hotel.booked kipriotis panorama but got the Maris instead. pleasant but not 5 star which was what i booked. was advised that you can be put anywhere on the complex. if it had not been for the staff at the Maris our holiday would have been abysmal . the managaement were not interested all they were interested in was that the L'oreal conference went without a hitch. with the result hotel was overbooked and so we were relegated to the Maris. the people from the conference mostly our eastern european neighbours Russian, Polish,Estonian. do not know how to behave away from home . they are noisy ignorant and extremely greedy yet they get first class treatment there. food in the Maris not a patch on Panorama , we were put there eventually 9 days into out holiday and only because it was closing. along with everyone else in the complex. you certainly get taken to cleaners by that company. so unless you are prepared to waste a great deal of time arguing and getting nowwhere steer clear is my advise. go to its sister hotel in Crete to iberstar Creta Panorama . at least if that is what you booked for that is what you get
