We stayed at The Hotel Platanista in August 2010 and had a fantastic holiday. The hotel looks like a castle from the outside. You enter the hotel via a grand entrance, leading into the reception area, which is all marble. Very impressive! The hotel has two fantastic pools. One being larger than the other and we found the smaller one was for the more reserved people, who preferred a quieter swimming pool. The smaller pool has a pool bar and a jaccuzzi. There are plenty of sunbeds around both pools. They have activities going on during the day, like water polo, water aerobics, crazy golf, beach volleyball, darts, pool etc, for you to join in if you wish. The restaurant was very impressive, but gets very busy. If you want to sit outside for your meals (especially evening) you need to get there early. The food was excellant and varied. There is entertainment in the evening. There are a couple of bars and a separate eating place during the day for snacks. They have a small shop which sells everything you need. The room was very spacious with a large marble bathroom and a large balcony. The gardens were lovely and kept emaculate. They have their own beach just down the road, but it is very rocky and deep. Not ideal. We found a lovely beach in Tigaki, which was beautiful. You can either get the bus or a taxi. Kos town is about 35 minutes walk or you can get the bus, which took about 5 minutes. The only downfall with the hotel, is that there is not much to do around there. Apart from that, it was fantastic!!! Can't wait to go back!!

Spartak is in charge of the bar and he is a great guy. His service is excellent and he is so friendly. Thank you Spartak.
The hotel is good but the beds are hard.
Fabulous swimming pools.
Lots of entertainment from the animation team for those who like that sort of thing.

After many years and many visits to the Platanista, it is still as good as ever and will continue to draw us back year after year. I cannot add any more plaudits than those the other reviewers have already stated - it is immaculately clean in the hotel complex itself, in the pool and garden areas and in the pool bar/restaurant. The food is varied and good and the staff are fantastic - without exception! We have become very friendly with some of them who keep in touch all year round. Kos town is within an easy pleasant walking distance and there are many boat trips available to some of the smaller islands and also to Bodrum in Turkey. Bodrum castle is certainly worth a visit with spectacular views across the bay. There is also a family run taverna just across the road from the Platanista called the Nestoras where there is always a warm welcome from Nestoras, Stephanos, Big Mike and Michael. We always eat lunch there and meet many of our local friends there in the evenings for the wonderful food they serve. All in all, we cannot recommend the Platinista or the area more highly - it is a fantastic place for couples and also for couples with young families. We are always greeted with the words "welcome home" and that indeed is how it feels! Thank you all at the Platanista for yet another wonderful holidaY!

I have written about this hotel before and I promise I am not on commission from the owner!

This hotel provides a relaxing environment for a stay in northern Kos. It is in close reach of the town with all that offers but frankly I spend a lot of time just relaxing at the hotel and meeting up with many acquaintances who return there year after year and others ( from Belgium and Holland) with whom I have become friends over the years. Equally I have developed friendly relationship with a number of staff who have been at the hotel for some time.

The hotel as good eye to improvement all the time even in these challenging economic circumstances and you know that decision made are based on customer satisfaction.
The service, food, the grounds maintenance and room cleanliness are excellent. The animation staff are earnest and friendly but as with all hotel entertainment catering for a variety of cultures not all of it will be to the British taste!

If you want a reliable, well maintained, professionally managed and friendly hotel in this part of the island you could not do better than the Hotel Platanista.

Room Tip: The 100 and 400-500 series of rooms are quieter and can offer better views of the sea

Fantastic hotel, booked it on the back of the trip advisor reviews and we were not dissapointed. Very clean, modern and friendly. This is a well run hotel that has very high standards. The food is superb 1st class. The rooms are large and modern, nicely furnished and always kept very clean. The grounds are well kept and there are always sunbeds. The entertainment is very good, friendly and not too pushy.. Downside... drinks are expensive at the bar. The location is a bit out on its own but we hired bikes for 2 weeks and it was a lovely safe ride into town. If you want windsurfing go to big blue which is about 10 mins ride down the coast. Would go again.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet room

My girlfriend and I have not long returned back to grey old England, after our week long stay at the brilliant Hotel Platanista in Kos.

We'd never been to Kos before and would highly recommend it to anyone, especially the hotel Platanista. Particular highlights for us were:

• The staff, who are all friendly . Especially the Animation team. (Keep an eye out for John Terry lookalike behind the bar!)

• A local taverna close to the hotel called Ocean Blue. Try the Greek mixed platter and homemade tzatziki...mmmmm!!!

Meals are nice, although breakfast could have more of a selection, including nicer bread for toast. All in all though you won't go hungry and there are some delicious pasta dishes.

Sergio and the team (Animation) will keep you entertained all day and night!
