transfer to hotel not as long as Thomson indicated but could have done with some air conditioning! On arrival at hotel receptionist very nice, cases were taken to our room, which was not very big but clean, 1 double bed and 2 single , TV with no english speaking channels except news channels though we did get one programme on the night we arrived and one film during the week but it was so boring we turned it off! now I know you don't go to watch TV but it would be nice to watch something at night before you go to sleep! Hair dryer in room a bit awkward to use so if you have space I would bring your own, room cleaned every day. After our arrival went downstairs to ask if we could get food to be told no the restuarant was closed (this was 10pm) and no room service at hotel maybe they could rethink this as after restuarant closed if you get peckish then you have to go out of the hotel for food. Hotel food was ok I'm very picky but what I did have was always hot and staff always replenishing. Pools are very good and always sunbeds available what i did like was one umbrella to 2 beds, pool bar didnt open until 11am. Hotel about 30/40 minutes walk from Kos old town beware of cyclists! bus costs 2.20 euros return but can get very busy oh and on return ring bell for your stop or he just drives on! you can get tickets from reception. Where hotel is situated is very quiet so if you want nightlift then don't go to this hotel. Someone commented not for kiddies but there were lots here and they all seemed to enjoy themselves. Internet not that great so wouldn't recommend paying just get it free in reception. We had late check out which was 6pm as opposed to normal check out at noon and our room was made up for us and clean towels put out which was very nice considering room had to be recleaned for next guests.

We used this hotel only as staying base for the nights. The best thing in this hotel was the breakfast. The food variety & quality were excellent, the kind service staff were either.
But can not say the same thing for the reception staff. The hotel is generally fine. But be careful while selecting the room. Some of the rooms were terribly noisy. The first one we were offerred was just besides the restaurant tables. Unfortunately, 2 days after it could be changed.

Room Tip: Rooms looking towards backyards for the ones looking for quieter rooms.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Hotel Platanista. The hotel is clean and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing for breakfast and evening meal and the choice is never an issue. There was no problem getting a sunbed even in high season (which is normally and issue in other hotels) and the pool area is fantastic.
The animation team try hard but it can be hit and miss as to what the entertainment is but sitting out with a few drinks and watching our youngest daughter loving the mini disco was a highlight.
Hiring bikes is a great way to get to town and so cheap (3 bikes and a baby seat was cheaper than a taxi in and back) and it is an easy ride with a lovely breeze.
We went on the Kos highlight tour which was fantastic but over priced as always with Thompson. We loved the holiday and would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday with great food and things to go and explore.

Room Tip: We emailed ahead of the holiday asking for a family room with the full room divide and they obliged...

We have stayed at the Platanista twice013 and June 2014. We did not want to review it because we wanted to keep it secret.
We had a de luxe room which was out of this world and so quiet, bathroom was lovely with a large shower.Food, well there was something for everyone. Psalidi was rather quiet but there is a good b
us service into Kos town.

Room Tip: Ask for a de luxe room, it's worth the extra.

Just come back from a week here. I would've loved it to be 2.
Hotel is immaculately clean, we booked a late check out & even that morning were offered fresh towels.
The food is outstanding delicious different choices every night we stayed.

The evening entertainment is put on by the animation team, so slightly lacking, but sitting at the bar watching it does not normally form part of our holiday , so did not matter at all.

The maître D in the restaurant is amazing & the staff genuinely seem to be happy working there which shows in the service offered.

Beach has quite string currents & stoney so the rubber swimming shoes make it much easier. We got the bus from just outside the hotel to Thermia, the hot springs in the sea which was lovely, but best swimming was off a 3island boat trip booked with the Rep.

Yes the safes are behind reception, but you are given a key & can access 24hours if you need to. They look like old safety deposit boxes from a bank.

It is definitely worth highering the hotel towels, just 5€ for the week for two we changed them every day & it meant ours were not sweaty or sandy.

The two pools & pool bar are great, as is the jacuzzi outdoor section. If you want to join in with pool games you can, but the Animation team seemed very good at not asking those who weren't interested (us) but just those that were (not us!).

If I were ever to go back to Kos I would actively seek out to stay here. It was an incredible hotel.

We spent 2 weeks at this hotel in July and loved every minute. My husband and I travelled with our 2 children, 16 and 14, and our friends with their 16 year old. We had a standard room, deluxe room and a superior room. The deluxe room was more spacious and had a lovely shower. The superior was no different than the standard room apart from the jacuzzi bath and in hindsight I wouldn't have bothered with upgrading to that room. All the rooms are nice and spotlessly clean. The maid comes every day and was lovely. The positioning of the hotel is great. We had stayed in Kos before and this hotel was better located. It is just off the main road, which is great to catch the bus into Kos City and to the ferma spa the other way. My friend and I did walk back from the town one day and it took only 30 minutes. The food at the hotel is delicious with lots of choice. The food is constantly being refreshed/replaced too, even if they tray isn't finished so you are never left with luke warm food. Every member of staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. The Maitre d sorted us a table on our first day and it was reserved for us every night and out lovely waitress Julia made sure we were always topped up with wine! Spartak, the barman at the pool bar is lovely and makes the best Mojitos ever! He doesn't stop running around, but always serves with a smile. We also had great service from Christian too. The entertainment at the hotel wasn't great, but that never bothered us. The quiz nights were fun, but apart from that we were happy to entertain ourselves. The animation team during the day had various activities but we were never pushed to join in which was good. All in all this was a fantastically relaxing holiday and we are hoping to go back. One thing I will say is get a list of trips from the rep at the hotel, but if you go down to the harbour in Kos City, all of the trips are at least half the price. We have been across to Bodrum for 12 Euros, instead of 50 from the rep and also the volcano trip is 30 euros from the town whereas the rep charges 58. If you book this hotel you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw were good. We had a Deluxe room which had a rain shower and was more spacious...

We took a week at this Hotel back in June as our regular 'spring starter' and were not disappointed. Must be the cleanest Hotel I've seen in the Greek isles and the Food was far above the norm from both a choice and quality point of view. The village is near enough to Kos Town to walk in, but far enough out to feel apart from the crowd. Walking along the mixed traffic (Pedestrian and Cycle) walkway between sea and road is a bit dicey, different nationalities with different 'rules of the road' and no one really very competent. So be aware and wits about you! Beach - forget it. No beach as such; just dangerous ankle wrecking rocks all the way out as far as most would swim.
Poolside life is definately great, very good pools, Pool bistro/restaraunt is very good value.
Drinks at this place are priced about the same as UK prices - So not cheap. Entertainment is erm.. 'varied' a good try but they need to spend more on the acts, Animation Staff were - Fabulous, professional and friendly......
But overall a fantastic Hotel and holiday..... Not for kiddies.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room - but entertainment is well controlled to end at about 2300 hrs, so no noise pr...
