We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The place is really neat and quiet. Although the place was fully booked we had no problems with finding sunbeds. Rooms are spacious and dinner is tasteful. Great place where we will definately go back to. Would like to thank the entire staff for their kindness and high level of service. Special thanks to Dimitros who is a one of a kind bartender. He gave our evenings that extra bit. We hope to see him again next time!

Kind staff, 3 buildings, restaurant has seats inside and a beautiful terrace overlooking the one of the swimming pools; 2 pools in total. The food is good! Free wifi available. Family rooms is nice; 2 single beds and one double. Extra blankets and pillows in the closet. Bathroom has a huge mirror, nice shower in the bath.
Tv with plenty of channels (also Dutch).

We stayed here with my wife’s sister and her husband at the beginning of October for 11 days. Prior to our departure from the UK, I had read several mediocre reviews, however our experience was totally delightful.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Upon our arrival at around 10pm my wife discovered that she had left her blood glucose testing kit on the plane. She needs to use this several times a day so this was clearly a concern. The reception staff immediately phoned the on duty pharmacy and arranged a taxi into town so we could obtain a new one. They even offered to send one of the staff with us to translate, however this wasn’t necessary and within half an hour we had returned from town with the new kit which was waiting at the pharmacy. So top marks to the reception staff.
The hotel itself is an attractive complex in lovely grounds located about 200 yards back from the main coast road and beach. The rooms are pleasent and are kept very clean but are fairly basic. We had a standard twin room which was located on the ground floor overlooking the gardens adjacent to the main pool. In terms of sleeping we found the beds comfortable but due to the proximity of the restaurant and bar, there was sometimes a bit of noise although this usually died out at around 11pm.
We had no problems with the restaurant, we were able to dine outside every night with the exception of one night when we felt it was a bit too chilly. The staff again were very friendly and the manager was always willing to help in finding a table or explaining the contents of a local dish. The food itself was a good mixture of Greek dishes and other European plates. The only negative comment was that the food could sometimes be on the cool side which is a general complaint when it comes to buffet style serving. Drink prices seemed reasonable with bottles of house wine (which seemed quite drinkable) starting at around 13€.
The pool areas are generously large and there was never a problem finding sun beds. During our stay we were lucky enough to have sun every day with temperatures around 27 degrees. There was a slight breeze which was not an issue during the day. At lunch time we had a light meal and drink at the pool restaurant. This offers a variety of hot and cold dishes and the prices are comparable to the tavernas which you can find along the road outside the hotel.
The animation team (George and olga) did a brilliant job in providing activities all day. The evening entertainment was a mixture of activities and entertainment such as Greek dancing and a couple of singing groups. We particularly enjoyed The Three Tenors and The Three Divas who sung a variety of songs.
We walked into the town on several occasions as we found the bus didn’t stop that often in the mornings due to it being full by the time it reached our hotel. The walk is easy as the ground is level and there is a good footpath / cycle path into the town.
In town we spent most of our time looking at ruins, the Roman villa and the amphitheater as well as visiting the museum. There is a lot to look at and you really need to spend around two days in Kos town to appreciate it all.
We also did the Thomson’s (TUI) VIP trip which is a one day tour of the island with lunch. This was in my opinion very well organised and provided a good overview of the island as well as visiting several interesting places.
In terms of hidden costs which has been a criticism in some reviews we found the hotel policy to be very similar to other 4 & 5 star hotels we have stayed at so we didn’t think the charges were unreasonable or unexpected.
All in all our stay at the Platanista was a really enjoyable holiday and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relaxing break in the sun with an opportunity to explore a very interesting island.

I have read all the positive reviews regarding this hotel and they are quite accurate reviews there are a few points I would like to add a few points.
The hotel is located off the main road to Kos on the East side of the Island down a very narrow road approx 30 meters long I was surprised to see such a large hotel at the end of the narrow road.
The check in was smooth but I have to pay for a safe deposit box €28.00 for 2 weeks also €14.00 for two swimming pool towels not what you would expect from a 4.5 star hotel we stayed half board and the evening meals were not to everyone's taste fortunately there was a salad option we also found the hot meals were far from hot at best luck warm and a bottle of water cost €2.40 every evening with the meal there is a wide choice of deserts available but if you require a cup of tea you will have to pay for it as tea is extra at the evening meal. We booked a deluxe room for €292.00 extra for 14 nights the difference between it and a standard room was a tea maker a Jacuzzi bath (which we never used) and a bathrobe the TV was a 32" flat screen with only one English speaking station Sky News I spoke to the hotel manager about this issue and he stated most of the guests were English /Dutch Etc but there was a problem with English TV and the hotel would rectify the problem in 2018 season. The view from the room was a side view of Bodrum Turkey.
The day time entertainment leaves a lot to be desired it Darts, Crazy Golf, Water Polo, Water Aerobics, very few guests tool part in the water sport as the swimming pool was freezing 15C too cold even to swim. There ia a small car bike rental company outside the hotel but if you hire a motor scooter you will be responsible for the first €600.00 of any damage to the bike or quad bike there is no insurance to protect you against this charge. Kos town is only a 10 minute bus ride from the bottom of the road to the hotel €2.10 return bus the bus can be full at peak times and you may have wait for 1hr to get a bus to stop for you you can walk to Kos in about 35 minutes Also there is no outside entertainment outside or near the hotel it is isolated the only chance outside is Kos town the evening entertainment in the hotel is terrible some nights Bingo A Juggler , Table Tennis, A music quiz. The price of a beer in the hotel is €5.00 and €7.00 for wine it is a better deal to go to Kos for the evening Max €3.00 a pint for beer
