“Amazing hotel and loved it. ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014 via mobile

A brilliant hotel topped of with brilliant staff , a manager that is very dedicated to make sure his hotel holds it's high standards. One minute he would be taking your drink order at the beach bar and then he would helping you to your table in the restaurant and then helping you to your room with your luggage. He was everywhere all the time ! And also a very friendly man who is always around. The animation team(headed by mickey) are amazing running activities throughout the day and then putting on a show or party in the evening. Food is excellent also with two other restaurants (Chinese and italian). Kos town is just 4 km away from the hotel with option of bus (bus stop just outside the hotel) , taxi (9 euro) or even bike hire with separate bike lanes all the way to kos and into the town. Furthermore therma springs is the same distance the other way. Only 30 minutes from airport it is in ideal location with a lovely beach.
Would 100% recommend.

My boyfriend and I visited the ramira beach hotel in kos for a week at the beginning of August 2014. We arrived late at around 1am and was greeted by a man working at the reception desk, we waited at the desk to be checked in, no welcome no how was you flight, 2 other girls where there asking about the wifi and he seemed to speak to them then us then them and told them that he was to tired for those, so first impressions where not great. We where then taken to our room which we assumed would be nice as we had paid to be in a superior room, this was 2 single beds pushed together and on a tiled floor they constantly moved apart all night, might I add that these beds where like sleeping on slabs of concrete with one small pillow each, I've had better nights sleep at the travel lodge. On the second day our toilet seat came off the toilet nearly injuring my boyfriend as he sat on it. Some of the staff really make a good effort to make you feel welcome, some are so moody, practically throw your good at you at the buffet. They all seem to want to tell you about how much they work, almost as is if they don't want the job but are forced, not wanting to help you or just having a hard faced attitude, most of them have dirty uniform and look tatty and grubby, I don't know if I'm just fussy but I do not want to be served my food and drink by someone who looks like they have been sleeping outside all week, expesially David at the beach bar, i was completly put off eating anything here because of the way the staff looked. The food In the main restaurant smelt vile and I didn't eat a whole meal there all week, they smell of the restaurant made me feel ill. The only saviour was the Chinese restaurant which was lovely, felt like we where in a different hotel compared to the main restaurant, but even there was down falls to this, we payed to go all inclusive so I can surely eat as much as I want? We where greeted by our waiter who said we could have one or two starters and a main each but what if I want more than that? I've paid for it so why not? They came across like we where getting it for free, like we where scroungers and I hated that considering we had payed just under £2000 for the holiday. Overall i did not feel at all at home at this hotel and will never be coming back, I felt that my privacy didn't exist as someone opened our door twice at 8 o'clock in the morning and looked in but said nothing, very strange and unnerving, being told that there was a safe and wifi in rooms when there is a safe yes but they didn't tell you that you have to pay 22 euros for the key to the safe, and the wifi is free for 3 hours yes but then you have to pay up to 25 euros for the week.

Dimitris A, Manager at The Mitsis Ramira Beach Hotel, responded to this review, 19 August 2014
Dear Reviewer,

I would like to thank you for not only choosing to stay with us at Mitsis Ramira Beach, but also for your precious time giving your feedback. I am sorry that your stay was not to your satisfaction and that we could not come up to your expectations.

Whilst we are always eager to receive good comments about the facilities and services at the hotel we do understand that in your case we didn't deliver to your expectations and I am terribly sorry for that.

At the Mitsis Ramira Beach, we pride ourselves in excellent customer care and service. All of our staff are trained to offer the best possible care and attention to our guests and the vast majority of our guests comment on how friendly, effective and smily the team is, however I apologize if this felt not to be the case during your stay with us.

I am very disappointed to read that the food provided in Main Restaurant was not of your liking, although all meals are served in a buffet style with extended show cooking for custom food preparation. The dining experience is considering as a great asset for the hotel as this confirmed through other reviews on TripAdvisor, tour operator’s surveys and our internal questionnaires.

I also regret to read that the room allocated to you did not meet your expectations, our superior double rooms consisting of two single beds gathered together and a comfortable sofa. For our guest’s satisfaction we provide-upon request-an extra double mattress to existing beds. Regarding the pillows, apart from the two pillows set already on the beds, two additional pillows are carefully stored in the closet of all our rooms, depending on the guest’s preference to use them or not. I am sorry for the toilet seat broken during the second day of your stay and according to our maintenance records, replaced shortly.

As far as the safety deposit box is concerned, all our rooms are equipped with a safe box and upon arrival (if not already informed through the brochures of tour operators), we clearly inform all our quests about this facility, which comes at the cost of 22 euros per week or 35 euros for a stay of two weeks. So, it is someone’s decision to use the safety deposit box or not. Plus, a central safe box is available at the reception, where guests could secure their personal belongings at no extra cost.

Regarding the WiFi Internet, we do provide free WiFi not only for three hours but for the total of your stay. High speed Internet also available at an extra cost for guests need faster connection (i.e. video streaming), but still a matter of their own decision to buy it or not.

To sum up, all the above mentioned points could be easily avoided if your concerns had been stated during your stay in the front desk or to the management team which is always around the premises to make sure that all guests are satisfied and the team delivers the high standard service we pride ourselves in. In that case, we could offer you the unique service we wish to offer to all our guests and your stay would be an enjoyable experience for you and your boyfriend.

I would like to thank you once again for your time spent to write a review for us in TripAdvisor. It would be great pleasure for us to welcome you back at the hotel and get the opportunity to restore your faith in Mitsis Ramira Beach.

Yours Sincerely,

Dimitris Amountzias

Upon arrival during the busy lunchtime period, we were met by a friendly team and our room allocation etc was handled quickly and efficiently. A 'speedy' Porter showed us to our room which was a very pleasant, tidy and comfortable family room.

The decor was in good condition with the maid service during our two week stay being what you would expect from this standard of hotel.
All aspects of our stay were excellent with all areas never failing to deliver what is advertised.

The pool facilities are excellent with a very efficient Bar Tender who controls the "un-allowed reserving" of sunbeds. This has got to be one of few hotels that will actually remove towels from sunbeds if they show that they are not being used, and are simply being reserved for later use. This is also the case on the beach, which although very pebbly, is nice, with a sea breeze and of course the beach bar to cool you down.

The main restaurant serves a large variety of foods to please any nationalities palate and was constantly being refreshed and stocked up to meet demand.

All staff within the hotel should indeed be praised for their politeness, efficiency, and pleasant manner - some more than others, but never a dull face to be seen.

The Animation team are also exceptional, and considering the long hours they work, they always have a smile. The evening shows are good fun - the Lord of the Dance was our favourite - Michael Flatley eat your heart out!

To sum up this was our third stay at a Mitsis hotel, and they all have maintained their standard throughout, although this we feel was the best so far.

Top Tip: If you do choose to stay at a Mitsis hotel and you decide to hire a car and see the Island, please note that you are able to use any other Mitsis hotels facilities - we did this for lunch on a day out thus saving us taking a packed lunch (although the hotel can provide this for you at no extra cost).

Four adults and a teenager arriving at the hotel, we were greeted with wonderful smiles and a refreshing drink. Maria and the ladies on reception were very efficient and checked us in promptly. We were shown to the restaurant to have some food as it was late evening when we got to the hotel. We were shown to our room which was spacious, immaculate and very comfortable. Fantastic view of the pool, mountains and the rest of the grounds.

Through out our stay we were looked after extremely well by all the staff at the hotel. Please forgive me but I can't remember all their names. As I mentioned earlier Maria was very helpful with queries and was always very willing to go that extra mile when dealing with us, as we're her colleagues.

Christina with the the most friendliest smile greeted us every day when we went for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a credit to the mitsis group.

The restaurant staff were second to none, very helpful and so curtious. So many I can't remember their names. Two that stick out we're stamatis and giannis I hope I've spelt them correctly. They worked very hard with their team who provided top notch service. Thank you to efi for the scrummy pancakes, the lady and young man who cooked eggs and bacon every morning with a huge smile, sorry I can't remember your name's. Thank you to the chef's also for providing such lovely food.
There was always a variety of food which was delicious and you could eat as much as you wanted.
We dined in the Italian restaurant and couldn't move afterwards as we had eaten so much lovely food. Thank you to the chefs who worked very hard to please all their diners and the waiters who were very pleasant.

We dined in the Chinese restaurant on several occasions as we love Chinese food. It was my favourite of them all. The food was exquisite and always left me wanting more lol. Thank you to the chef for the mouth watering food. The waiter was very hard working and was always smiling and for the life of me I can't remember his name. Very tall with a shaven head..

The beach bar staff worked tiresly to feed and hydrate all its guests. The food was fantastic especially the gyros and burger. Alkis worked very hard every day ensuring you had a drink at all times.

The bar staff at the quiet pool Dessy and Marios were fantastic. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Big smiles every day. Alexandra, demitris and yannis who worked the main bar were super efficient, friendly and were wonderful people to get to know. Babis and his colleague were super efficient at serving everyone, a credit to the hotel. Evdokia who worked in the sunset bar was very friendly and was teaching us greek, thank you for your time and looking after us.

Our maid Alina kept our room at 5star standard. Everyday a lovely floral arrangement on the bed. The animation team were wonderful with all the guests. Flo such a funny guy. Great with guest doing archery and pistol shooting. Troy is such a character and Johnny wow brilliant act. All of them work tiresly to keep all gusts entertained. From the minute we arrived until we left we were looked after so well by all the named people and the ones I can't remember. Thank you to you all for making our two week holiday one to remember.
There is plenty to do here but if you want to do nothing then no one pushes you. Loads to see in kos town, Asklepion absolutely wow. The castle is amazing. Bus ride costs 2 euro's, u can get tickets from reception at € 1.50. Did plenty of sight seeing around kos town. Did the Aegean trip on the lovely boat Nikitas to plati, kalymnos and Pserimos with thomas cook. Fantastic taverna' s along the way into kos town especially taverna hermo. Lovely food great mythos and fantastic hosts.

To management and staff at the mitsis thank you to you all for a enjoyable two weeks. We will be back.

Room Tip: Room 209, great views of the pool and mountains.

We stayed at this hotel for a week in June on an all-inclusive basis. Check in and out were very efficient. When checking in we were offered alternative accommodation at the Mitsis Blue Domes but chose to stay at the Ramira as we wanted to be close to Kos Town.

The room was comfortable, well maintained and clean and our cleaner was very friendly. Our room overlooked the smaller of the 2 pools and had a lovely sea view from the balcony. The pools and grounds appeared well maintained. The bed was comfortable and the rooms well air conditioned.

We only used the buffet breakfast/lunch/dinner so cannot comment on the 2 a la carte restaurants which need to be booked in advance. There are also a few restaurants on the road between the hotel and Kos Town and in Kos Town itself which we used as an alternative a few nights. It would have been nice to have a few more vegetarian options on the buffet at the hotel, although salad and some other dishes was always plentiful and fresh.

The beach is directly across the road from the hotel. If you are looking for golden sand you would be disappointed as the beach is rocky which is what we were expecting having read previous reviews. It is good to wear water shoes if going into the sea due to it being rocky as you enter and in the sea. The sea was calm enough to swim on some days but a little rough on others. On a calm day the water was crystal clear and we were able to watch the fish even without a snorkel. It is possible to loan beach towels from the hotel (so no need to pack one) with a returnable deposit on the return of the towel card. We also used the canopies on the beach which filled up quickly.

The hotel is situated just outside Kos town which we were able to walk to in about 30-40 minutes. We chose to hire bikes from just outside reception which meant that we could be in Kos Town within 15-20 minutes using the easily accessible cycle path which runs all the way down into the town. There were plenty of places to leave the bikes in town. For an even quicker journey the bus took about 10 minutes but was very crowded. Bus tickets can be purchased at reception.

All of the staff we encountered were friendly, courteous and welcoming.

Overall we would recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: It is worth booking a seas view room on a high floor
