“Excellent time at the Kos imperial”
Reviewed 24 May 2012

Stayed at the Kos Imperial 7 nights Premium Plus, didnot want for anything.
Mixed nationalities staying, apparently under occupied for this time of year 250-300 people staying, so no problems with sunbeds or ques in the dining areas.
Food and drink very good quality and choice massive never had same twice over one week.
The hotel is generally very clean however it was a hard job for the cleaning staff to keep the corridors clean because of the swifts/swollows nesting and feeding their chicks, but i was pleased to see the nests remained until the chicks had fledged.
Gardens beautifuly kept very pretty. The pools are fantastic very clean.
The staff at the hotel are very friendly and attentive and could not do enough for you, despite the situation greece is currently finding itself in.
Our room 313 (limited sea view) very nice and kept up to standard by our room maid.
The entertainment at night time was in the conference room, inside, and was not realy set up for shows etc, I would imagine in the high seaseon the outside theatre will be a better venue.
Would i return the the Kos Imperial absolutely another Excellent Grecotel hotel.

Room Tip: Request a higher floor views are better unless on the beach front.

My wife and I went in late August '11 with our 2 sons (aged 4 and 5 months) for 7 days. The staff were lovely. The room was nice but not quite 5 star. The food was good, plenty of different choices so we didn't get bored of it. The pools were excellent and always plenty of sunbeds. Evening entertainment was sometimes good and sometimes not. We opted to go half board as oposed to all-inc because we are not heavy drinkers and it definately worked out the cheaper option. There was plenty for kids to do including a nice kids club which my 4 year old enjoyed. The beach was terrible, only about 5 metres from the start of the beach to the water and made of sharp stones. Impossible to walk on barefoot and no good for kids. The hotel must have cost millions to build so why didnt they invest a few quid in a nice sandy beach?

We stayed at Grecotel for 3 nights at an amazing maisonette which came as a surpise because we originally booked a double room. All areas of the hotel are very clean and well decorated, Reception floor had a fantastic view to the sea. Swimming pools are for every taste and age while 'lazy river' is fun for everyone. Playgrounds are very nice and safe. Personel very polite and discrete. Genergally the experience was good but the following issues should be mentioned:
- Beach and sea in front of the hotel is not so good. Umbrellas and sun beds are ok. You can easilly find much better beaches at the island especially at the south side.
- Hotel restaurants and breakfast nothing special. Assortment was good but medium tasted and overpriced, At kos town you can find much better restaurants
- Wifi although offered for free wasn't so stable.

This is a great hotel very close to the town of Kos. Very nice swimming pools especially the area with the lazy river and the waterfalls. The beach has nothing special, Kos has much nicer beaches.
The rooms are very nice however not very large. Clean and nice, above average but not 5 stars. About the personnel you get mixed feelings. Some very friendly and helpful but a few who seem bothered just by the fact that you have little kids with you.
Very nice personnel at the kids section where they have many activities for the kids who seem to enjoy.
The restaurants are nice, the buffet good but not 5 stars. However it is good. Anything you get at this hotel is overpriced. A small bottle of wine and a bottle of water and you had to pay an extra 20 Euros for the buffet restaurant....
At the right price it is a nice hotel. Not something extraordinary.

Arrived late flight from Manchester, arriving at the hotel just after midnight. The front of the hotel looks a little disappointing at first, but once you get inside, its all marble and opulance. Good welcome at the reception, and taken to our room by very friendly member of staff on an electric cart. Awoke to sunshine on the first morning, and made our way through to the restaurant. There is everything that you could ever want for breakfast, from continental style with breads and pasties, through to full English if you want it, and mix in yoghurt, fruit, cheesecake(!), cheese, hams etc etc. All the food is replenished regularly by the many staff on hand, which is great, however, it just gets a bit repetitive after a while. We were advised by our Thomsons rep that the English are in the minority in this hotel, and he wasn't wrong. The visitors there are predominently German or Russian, and the latter of these don't believe in being second in the queue, and we were regularly barged out of the way of the food counters. After a few days of the onslaught in the restaurant, at both breakfast and dinner, we found that this clearly wasn't for us. Please don't get me wrong... It is a beautiful hotel, and immaculate everywhere, and extremely clean. The pool area is lovely, although the water very cold in late September, and warmer in the sea. If you do go out of season, it gets quite chilly in the evening, so suggest a light jacket or cardie wouldn't go amiss in the suitcase! Good thing about going late Sept, very few children around, so very peaceful, wherever you choose to spend the day. The best evening for our week away, was catching the local bus into Kos Town for the evening, sitting in the main square, where there are many tasteful bars to sit and watch the world go by. Also found a nice restaurant, in the old area of the town, and had a lovely meal, which after having to fight and serve ourselves, was welcome relief to have someone bring your plate to you! Finally, the beach is a let down.... its a man made area, having shipped in some sand, and is very rocky in places. There are also some hidden dangers lurking under the water, with old pipes and metalwork which can hurt if you catch your foot. Would definitely recommend to anyone to buy the cheap plastic footwear for getting in/out of the water. Its a lovely hotel, more like a small village, with beautiful gardens and pools, but it is out of the way, and the only thing in walking distance, is a small taverna, and small supermarket. (p.s the evening entertainment is a bit naff too!)

Room Tip: All the rooms appear to be of good quality, but having seen all the complex, I wouldn't bother u...

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at this hotel, we went with 2 of our friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms we had were far better than expected and although we had a limited sea view it was still quite good. On arrival we were given wine, flowers and fruit in our rooms which made it that bit more special. The pools were very good but shoes are a good bet if you want to go on the beach and in the sea because of the shingle beach and the stones in the sea. The food was good with quite a wide choice. The drinks as we expected were expensive. Both couples received a cake as we are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversaries this year, a very nice touch. We would definately go again if we were visiting Kos.

Yes its been 5 years since we last visited the Grecotel Kos Imperial and its as good as ever with superb healthy food and large comfortable accommodation. The communal areas are as stylish and the hotel is not dated. There is free wi fi and internet access and a reasonably priced Sun Stores Mini Market within. Access to Kos Town is either a 90 minute walk of a 1.60 Euro bike ride. There has been a big fall in bar prices at the hotel and in Kos generally since our last visit making Kos cheaper than Bodrum, Turkey.

Room Tip: Choose a balcony room, ground floor rooms are often shaded all day
