“Amazing luxurious hotel”
Reviewed 19 August 2012

Stayed here with my family and was amazed at the accommodation, we had our own house where the kids had the upstairs with their own facilities and we had the downstairs with a balcony.
The hotel is amazing and very upmarket and the restaurant is out of this world for quality and selection.
The hotel is spotlessly clean and staff are very helpful and will even send the staff in to town if you need something not available on site.
Only complaint is as all five star hotels the drinks can work out very expensive but there are some excellent bars along the main road.

What more can I say except Fab Fab Fab.
From the service to the rooms to the food...all Fab
The location is great and the breeze that is there all the time during the day is a life saver.
No hassle in having to get up at daft o'clock to get a sunbed, and they provide towels for the sunbeds.
This was our first time here and will definitely not be our last, roll on next year .
The only down side is the tiny airport when going home, but the hotel out weighs the dodgy airport.
This place is a must if you just want to chill and feel totally relaxed.

We spend two weeks here via Thomsons. The hotel is wonderful for a relaxing break in the sun. Superb pools with so much space to swim and at no time did we need to 'reserve' a sun bed as there are so many, which makes a very refreshing change. The beach, whilst stony, is also nice with lovely views towards Turkey, and the sea is wonderful and clear. Our room was clean and spacious; the food was exceptionally good and unusually for us in a fortnight we didn't eat out, as they ring the changes and the quality and choice was excellent. Its a beautifully designed hotel, and well maintained. Top of the list is the staff - the service was outstanding whereever we were, with attention to detail and total professionalism, as well as warmth. Its only a short and cheap bus ride from Kos Town itself so you have all the advantages of that without having to stay in the hustle and bustle. The two Thomson trips we went on - the island tour and day visit to Bodrum - were also very good. We'd thoroughy recommend this hotel to anyone on a sun and sea holiday.

We have recently come back from a week holiday at the kos imperial. We travelled as a family on a thomson package. Upon arrival the lobby is impressive and the reception staff were very helpful at check in. Our room was clean, but dated. The room had some tired furniture and could do with some updating. The pool area's were very nice and one of the biggest pool complex's we have ever stayed in, also there was no trouble to get a sunbed as there were plenty allocated down by the resorts private beach and the multiple pool area's. We stayed here on an all inclusive package and there was a good selection of drinks, however there was a slight confusion over which drinks you could have at selected bars. There was also a couple of snacks throughout the day. Meals were very good and varied most nights, with plenty of choice, the restaurant surroundings were beautiful and the photos do not do it justice. We would recommend the a la carte down by the beach as the food was lovely and the surroundings were beautiful. The staff are friendly and helpful. Beware that the locks on the hotel toilets are unrelaible as many people got locked in and could'nt get out. The entertainment was awful, but we were aware of this. The location of the hotel is a bit out of town but there is a bus stop outisde the hotel and the local bus to Kos town is only €1.60 and very regular, its worth a visit! However we were let down upon depature as our all inclusive package ended at 5 o'clock and we did not depart the hotel until midnight, also we had to vacate are room at 12 o'clock but we didnt mind this as the hotel staff said that there would defiantley be a courtesy room to have a shower in, but this certainly was not the case, as we were sent down to the spa. The spa was boiling, and people were sweating as the heat was unbearable, we couldnt wait to leave as we felt faint and hot, this was a unpleasent experience. Besides this experience we had a very good stay.

Room Tip: Email the hotel in advance.

Family holiday with kids for 10 nights.
We had a great time. Food is pretty good. Beach side restaurant is gorgeous and Carl who runs it is amazing. Food takes a while to appear unless it's a salad but the gorgeous view and relaxing venue are worth the wait. Other meals are buffet with plenty of options.
Kids club was pretty good. Staff were amazing and kids loved them and the disco every night. They could do with a few more organised activities during the day but have to say kids loved banana boating and river rafting on the lazy river. There are 4 pools, 3 of which are salt water. There is a spa and a gym but we did not use either. The beach is rocky with plenty of sun loungers and there is a jetty where my kids fed fish every day.
Kids went scuba diving which they loved and did lots of snorkeling. Plenty of fish in the beach so they loved it.
6 minute cab ride to Kos centre which is worth a visit for shopping and restaurants. Lovely atmosphere, very relaxed and lots of pretty cobblestoned streets to walk through.
Accommodation for families is maisonette over 2 levels. Rooms could do with an update but are very clean with a balcony and 2 bathrooms.
Staff are all very friendly though have to say this hotel does not employ very many Greek staff.
Staff on reception could be better trained to deal with guests, polite service but only 1 person behind the desk that knows what's going on. Thankfully you do not need to use reception often.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool are noisy at night with music until approx 1130. Though these have the best vi...

We stayed here for 10 days on a Thomson package deal. When you arrive, the lobby is very impressive and the staff very helpful at check-in. Our room was great. It was big and clean, with a decent enough size bathroom and a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit on arrival. The pools were very nice, and you could pretty much always get a sun-bed, and if there weren't any left, there were plenty down by the hotel's private beach. We were on the all inclusive package, and there was a great choice of drinks available and a few snacks throughout the day. Meals were also pretty good, the buffet varied everynight with plenty of choice. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. In terms of location it's a bit out of town, but you could get a local bus into Kos town for €1.60 and they were pretty regular and only take around 10 minutes. All in all, a great stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Have just returned from a very enjoyable trip to the imperial hotel in Kos. The hotel is ranked as five Thomsons T's but is in fact 4 stars. The lobby of the hotel is very impressive on first sight and check in was both swift and well organised.

Hotel Room
Our hotel room was quite dated, the wicker furniture was tired and the television absolutely ancient! We felt that supplying a headboard for the third bed in the room would have been beneficial. On the positive side we were pleasantly surprised to find that the spacious safe in the room was free, as was the wifi. Sadly we quickly found that the complimentary slippers were necessary as the floors were absolutely filthy. We requested an extra pillow at reception that was never supplied.

Food
The food and service in the a la carte restaurant was fantastic and well worth a visit if not just to sample the unbelievable puddings! The food at the daily buffets (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was aimed at the masses and therefore quite bland. The attitude of the staff at the buffets was quite mixed and varied between very friendly and approachable to downright rude and surly! That said it was always easy to get served for drinks in the restaurant. As a guest who had paid for all inclusive I was most irritated to find that our 'all inclusive' option stopped at 5 o'clock on the day we checked out as our flight was not until midnight and therefore we did not leave for the airport until 9:15.

Pools
The pools were beautiful, the three pools catered for different tastes and ages and there were plentiful padded sunbeds. The sunbeds were reserved quite early in the morning so if you have a particular spot in mind you may wish to reserve before breakfast as most people do. In the hotel welcome package it stated that anyone reserving a sunbed would have their towel removed, however this was not the case.

Entertainment
The animation team try extremely hard and certainly provide lots of fun activities for children as part of their crèche service 'grecoland'. As a party of adult travellers we found the entertainment to be a bit of a mixed bag the 'bought in' entertainment was of a reasonable standard the hotel created entertainment was frankly a bit embarrassing!

Explosion!
All in all we enjoyed our stay, apart from the day that the pool bar exploded! We had left the pool bar possibly 10 minutes before we heard a large bang and lots of people screaming. There had been an explosion in the kitchen of the pool bar and the front serving hatch and roof caught fire. It took around an hour for the fire to be brought under control during which slightly alarmingly there was no sign of either a fire alarm or the fire brigade. From that day on lunch was served in the hotel restaurant while the pool bar was rebuilt by a team of builders, which was a little noisy (but understandable). We were just pleased that if we believed the hotel none of the staff had been injured (this felt quite unbelievable considering the speed and ferocity of the fire.)

Antonis S, General Manager at Grecotel Kos Imperial Hotel, responded to this review, 9 August 2012
Dear Christina G,

Thank you very much for your feedback on your recent stay at Grecotel Kos Imperial. We were most disappointed to learn that certain aspects of your holiday had not met with your expectations and run as smoothly as you had wished.

At Grecotel we pride ourselves on excellent standards of service and hospitality, therefore after reading your contribution, I have fully investigated all the points that you have brought to our attention and would like to take this opportunity to comment on them:

Although our hotel is well known for the high quality of the service provided and the rooms & cleanliness are regarded as some of the best in our Group, we were sorry to read your opinion. We take every comment as a motivation to improve further and I’ll be monitoring these items closely.

I would like to clarify that the all-inclusive “Premium Plus” package is presented to all our tour operator partners (including Thomson) and its contents and limitations are mutually agreed. More specifically, this package is valid from the time of arrival until 5pm on the departure day even though official check-out time (internationally) is 12:00 hrs. Additionally, anyone who arrives late on the first day is entitled to any lost meal during their stay.

Concerning the ‘explosion’ in our Taverna kitchen, our staff and management showed extreme courage and composure despite the difficult situation. It will be unfair not to mention that the fire was extinguished after only 30’ and before the fire brigade arrived.

Once again I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback and to apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please rest assured that all your comments have been discussed with the relevant departments of the hotel and that action will be taken as a result of your feedback. I trust that despite the comments that you have made that this will not deter you from considering Grecotel Kos Imperial or other hotels in the Grecotel group for your future holidays.
