“beware of the flies !!!”
Reviewed 30 September 2008

The hotel was listed as 5* with Thomson Platinum, we stayed there with our young daughter between the 13th and 20th september. The rooms were excellent and cleaned thoroughly every day. Pool gym and spa facilitys were all good however the pools were a little cold, even the childrens pool. The only major downside to our stay was the problem with the flies !!!
They were everywhere, this was most off putting and disgusting for a 5* hotel. They were over your food at the buffet with no attempt to stop them, they were just everywhere. If the hotel cannot solve this problem they will lose there 5* reputation.

The main entrance may blind guests because of the shine of the floor, however after getting over the first impression they will realize hotel pitfalls.
-Service ineffective and not willing to help. The last day we asked to be picked up in our room with the luggage since they have small carts available. They reply “5 minutes” and at seven am they would probably had no much work. We are still waiting.
-Once our room was not cleaned. They understood we had left “Do not disturb” instead of “Make our room”. When we informed the reception not only they did not send the maid as they agreed to, but they only provided the clean set of towels as we requested after forty minutes and three calls to the reception!
-They do not have complaint forms. If you have a complaint you have to write it in the suggestions form. In my country it is illegal not having complaint forms.
-Breakfast buffet does not have still water available. You have to ask for it, fortunately they do not charge it. Orange juice is terrible and squeezed orange juice is charge to your bill. It sounds incredible since this is a 5 star hotel whose rates for a double room are not below 200 euro in high season.
-There are some staff that try to get extra money by charging the bill of the bar or restaurant to the room even the bill has been already payed cash. The first day we had some drinks before checking-in, so we payed cash and left the ticket on the table. When we checked out we realize that they had charged the drinks to our room and somebody HAD SIGNED the bill for us. Moreover the staff at reception did not believe us and check our signatures before fixing the final bill.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get a good value for their money and spend some quite days without fighting for their rights.

My wife and I have just returned from a very enjoyable 1 week stay at the Kos Imperial Hotel.
We booked a side sea view garden room and were allocated room 553 which was an upstairs bungalow room overlooking the pool with the sea just beyond.

There was complimentary wine, water, fresh fruit and flowers in our room upon arrival – a nice touch after a long day travelling.

We could not fault the hotel or staff during our stay, we even received a chocolate cake in our room to celebrate our anniversary.

OK the drinks were expensive, and as other posts have pointed out the hotel shop and small supermarket over the road sold snacks and alcohol which we enjoyed on our balcony in the evening.

The restaurant food was fine, with the option to switch your evening meal with a lunch time buffet offering a different choice of menu and meant that you could catch an earlier bus to Kos town in the evening.

Great hotel, great weather, great people, would recommend for a truly relaxing holiday.

Stayed at this hotel for one week in September, the hotel and grounds were fantastic, lovely clean and comfortable rooms with lovely pools.

The restaurant was great, breakfast was the best meal of the day, so much choice. Dinner was also very good with loads of choice. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

One thing, the drinks are OVERPRICED, we went to the pool bar after dinner on the first night, we were given the menu, after seeing that the cocktails were 12 euros each we ordered a tea and coffee. The hotel is a contradiction, on the one hand they seem to want to sell you overpriced drinks at the bar and in the restuarant, but on the other hand they give you a fridge, wine glasses and a bottle opener in your room, all this with no entertainment at all, they seem to want you tucked up in bed by 10pm.

We bought a box of wine at the airport and this lasted is quite a long time, one other thing, get the bus into Kos after dinner, this will cost you 1.40 euros, there are loads of bars and restaurants, but you may have to get a taxi back as the buses back are very overcrowded, the taxi back cost 9 euros.

I would go back to this hotel, but only if they reduced the cost of drinks and if they put on some entertainment.

Overall a very nice hotel and a very relaxing holiday.

I've been here twice, in 2005 & 2007, can only add to the reviews that state this to be a fantastic hotel. First rate staff and services, my wife using the spa facilites several times during both stays. Car hire is a good idea, also the bus is the cheapest way to get into town which is about 3 miles away. Drinks are expensive, but there is a small shop across the road which sells snacks and drinks at a greatly reduced rate.

Staying at the hotel was very pleasant.

Most memorable is a big, well kept garden, which walking routs, which was a good for time-spending after a late dinner to walk around and stay out in beautiful vicinity of trees, bushes, flowerbeds, all kept in perfect shape and even with plant names on the plates. As the hotel is far from center and there is nowhere else to have a walk outside of the hotel, it was a necessity.

Pools were very interesting and big. There was a waterfall and plenty of bridges, to make it adventurous to swim under them.

Pirate ship for children was very popular and good idea.

Kids pool water could have been warmer.

Sunbeds were always available and sea water pure. Sometimes it was quite windy though.

Meals, we had breakfast and dinner, were of great variety of food. Very pleasant service at tables. Very much fruit and sweets. Good choice of Greek specialties.

Rooms were nice. Towels and bathrobes looked like new and shiny white.

Only one bed cover had a quite big hole in it and ants were running around the room floor. Open hallways were sometimes a bit dirty from the bird dirt, but generally hotel left a very clean impression.

Very beautiful reception hall and a view from the main bar.

  • Liked — Comfortable, good quality hotel.
  • Disliked — Good food

Myself and my wife have just come back from a two week stay at this hotel. The pictures do live up to the expectations, the pools are wonderful and the setting is beautiful. However, there were a few issues such as the dining experience that was truly awful. From the start of the holiday to the very end, we were joined each time by numerous flies at breakfast and evening meal. The restaurant was buffet service both morning and evening (although you can ask for waiter service for eve) and the flies were all over the food as it was all uncovered at the buffet. We found it unhygienic and unappetising. It was difficult to eat your food before a fly would land on it at your table also!
Having to get the food yourself at the buffet was very stressful as it was so busy with people you constantly felt as though you were walking into people it's badly organised! There were not many British at this hotel, alot of Germans, some Russian and some French, many of whom didn't seem to have any manners or they don't understand the concept of queing.
We found the waiter service good from the female staff but found many of the male staff in the restaurant responded more efficiently if tipped! The staff in other areas were pretty good.
Another problem was ants in our room, although the room was lovely and very spacious. For our second week we moved upstairs which was a little better, but in a hot country and these rooms are situated outside the main building you may expect this a little.
Another tip is that we upgraded to a garden view room thinking it was nicer than the standard room but when we arrived we discovered that they all appear to be garden view rooms - so I'd save your money if I were you - it's quite likely you get the same room anyway.
Our last comment is to keep track of your room bill. We sometimes paid by cash for wine/water in the restaurant but the staff always asked our room no. and automatically put it on our room and stimes would forget to mark it as being paid for in cash - on 3 occasions we had to query it at reception or we would have paid twice and if you looked at the bill at end of hol you'd never remember what you'd have paid for.
Having said all that we did enjoy the holiday (great town nearby, lots to do nearby, good facilities and pleasant surroundings) but felt for such a high standard hotel in some respects it let itself down in other ways. Would recommend this hotel for good points but be aware of these issues we had.
