“A five star experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

I stayed in this hotel with my family one week ago. We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food and the lovely scenery.
Concerning the staff, each and every one of them were incredibly polite and couln't do enough for you. Special thanks to Vassilis and Stefanos for taking extra care of us.
The hotel offers a variety of restaurants, from the main buffet to the beach restaurant, all of them with a high quality food and service.
As for the location, the hotel is situated close enough to Kos town, in a beautiful scenery with amazing gardens, pools and beach.
We 're definitely going back next year!

Just returned from a weeks holiday with my wife and two boys aged 10 and 13. Overall this is a very high standard hotel but more 4* than 5. The staff are an absolute credit to the management team and almost without exception they are incredibly friendly and go out their way to please. We were All Inclusive which when I was booking wasn't sure if it was worth it, trust me it's worth it. If you book half board, take plenty of spending money for drinks and lunch, it's very expensive, i.e 12 euros a cocktail. Food at the hotel overall is excellent, with breakfast being my favourite meal of the day, the choice is outstanding. Lunch and dinner were also great but very quickly became really repetitive with only very slight variations at each meal. With the A.I package you receive one complimentary meal at the A La Carte restaurant which was superb. I agree with a previous reviewer however that whilst a hotels main offer is buffet style food it can't quite be a true 5* (queuing with plates in hand etc) Entertainment in the hotel is really not great and whilst my hat off to the entertainment team for trying their best, the management team must invest in some good quality acts for the evening as their is really nothing else round about and so it it can you leave you feeling a little bored of an evening. We took the Thomsons "Zia by night" excursion. The cost for four was 52 euros which is just the coach trip there and back which takes about 40 mins one way. We booked a table at the Oromedon Taverna for dinner in Zia before leaving the UK and it was the best experience ever, the view and sun set was incredible not to mention the most fantastic food, hospitality at incredibly reasonable prices. Zia itself is a little village with a small market but coupled with the meal is an absolute must when your in Kos. Final point about the hotel was on our day of departure where before leaving the UK paid extra to keep on one of our two bedrooms as a late checkout only then to be told this was no longer possible, that we had to pack up both rooms and move to another room in the hotel, not a great ending and not what I believed I had paid for. All in all this is a great hotel, superb staff, amazing swimming pools (take goggles they are very salty and can be quite stinging on the eyes) and a real sense of quality.

The food and drinks at this hotel are VERY expensive if you are not on an all inclusive plan (even with the kids meals being free). We had planned to eat in town some meals, but due to the location of the hotel, it is not really convenient to hop into town for a meal. Also we prefer a la carte restaurants over buffets for dinner, but there is only option for dinner and you need to book two days in advance.

The facilities are very nice and the rooms clean, and the pools are lovely. The children's area of our family suite was more like a large closet with no decor.

I would recommend getting a car for at least one day to see the island. Zia is charming as are some of the small beach towns.

On arrival we were suitably impressed with the grandeur of the foyer and reception areas, as the holiday progressed we found the main issue we had was with the management of the children in and around the pools, restaurants and the evening entertainments. Despite there being a number of pools there was not a pool restricted to adults only and although in mid June there were not huge numbers of children as the season progresses the problem will be greater. Similarly with the restaurant the children were allowed to run amok, the answer would be to have a first sitting when the families could be fed, and a second sitting for adults only, after all there was a house rule that long trousers and shirts had to de worn in the dining room at dinner this is not really compatible with youngsters running around. The same applied to the evening entertainment when the kids again largely took over, as there was only 1 local taverna Romeos that was OK for an hour or so but I didn't think I would say this ,thank the lord for the World Cup!!! The hotel itself was first class the staff and food were faultless, it is quite remote but there is a regular bus to Kos Town which is bustling with a good selection of shops and restaurants. All in all we had a good time but with a new 'kiddy policy' it could have been so much better. Nick

Room Tip: upper floor bungalows would be the quietest those room numbers 800 and something

what a lovely hotel, built like a greek village with a restaurant with good food , a massive selection which changes every night, 3 swimming pools which are all different for all tastes, nice rooms and the hotel all round is impressive. You can also just stroll straight onto the beach which is good and there's always sunbeds available . Great facilities for tennis, beach volleyball and table tennis . the only criticism I would have is that the hotel is definitely NOT a 5 star and more of a 4 star but it should not be enough to put you off !

Room Tip: pay extra for the limited sea view room unless you want a view of somebody else's room

As described in a previous report "one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had" and we could not fault the service from the moment we arrived in the early hours to the time we left. The public areas were impressive and the hotel spotless and the maid service excellent and very adaptable as whatever time you left your room on return it would be made up. We stayed for seven days and we could not fault the food with many choices and the best selection of condiments/ extras I have ever seen both at home or abroad. . The breakfast menu was one of the best i have ever encountered and I myself never had a cooked breakfast due to the vast range of alternatives such as cereals cold meats, cheeses, fruits of all kinds and one particular like was the station doing sweet or savoury crepes along with fresh smoothies and the selection of breads ,breakfast cakes and pastries was extensive. The weekly visit to the Al a carte restaurant which needs to be booked was something special with 5* service and one of the best meals we have had in some time and we do not say that lightly
we were fully inclusive or premium plus as this hotel classed it and we found the selection included was more than adequate for ourselves and the fact a bottle of wine and two bottles of water were in the fridge in our room on arrival a nice touch along with the fresh fruit and as bottles of water were"free" from the poolside bar we always had some left and thus our fridge in our comfy room with a king size bed was never empty.A free to use safe was also present and the provided dressing gowns and slippers were also a nice touch
As stated by many reviewers the staff were absolutely fantastic with nothing too much trouble and notable staff for us were Anita and Machin in the restaurant area. Alexandra in the Al a Carte and main restaurant area and Ludmilla in bar areas along with the young ladies at the entrance to the dining room and and all the other staff who were fantastic but whose names i cannot recollect and all those behind the scenes. They all spoke both English but several other languages and were of varying nationalities but some of the nicest and hard working people i have met in this industry and a credit to this hotel.
The only improvement i could suggest would be that the premium plus continues up until departure as we had seven hours between checking out of our room until departure but to summarise a fantastic hotel, with staff who surpassed all our expectations.
To mention outside the hotel it was really easy to use buses with excellent drivers to Kos town (approx two euros per person each way) and kos town seemed very laid back but sad to see a child begging outside a church, but no time share touts or any other persons pestering tourists A visit to the volcanic island of Nissiros along with its capitol Mandraki and a visit to a village called Nikkia where tourists have only visited since six years ago and time still stands still with no tourist trappings is recommended..
NB Advisable to have some mosquito repellent as they are active at certain times of year!

My husband and I stayed at The Grecotel Imperial from the 10th of June to the 24th.
The Hotel on first impressions is beautiful to look at, very elegant. We were swiftly checked in and cases bought to our room as we were sent straight down to have dinner before the restaurant closed.
The food at Breakfast and Dinner was the best we have had aside from the cruises we have been on.
Very fresh and good quality meats, Salads and vegetables all cooked or presented really well.
Lots of choice and all at good temperature.
The outside eating areas again were some of the best we have experienced with the tables being set on a kind of lagoon, with fantastic staff who were extremely friendly and professional.
Nothing was too much trouble and after a day or two they knew your drinks and your favoured tables and had them ready for you.
Anita in the restaurant was exceptional. She was outstanding in her manner and service and totally charming too.
The Lunch buffet was served in only one area and that was the pool bar area.
The food was again of a very high standard but the selection changed only minimally in 14 days. There needs to be more variety there. There is a beach restaurant where it would have been nice to eat for a change but at 15 euro’s for a burger even though we were supposed to be Premium plus it seemed an absolute liberty to charge this.
There are only two Bar areas one is at the top, straight out from reception, it has a large pool water feature and is beautiful to look at until dusk drops, then it is so dark you can barely see each other! Some people may prefer this but we didn’t..It needs bigger lanterns or even Citronella candles on the tables which would help the extreme Mosquito infestation.
This area was lacking in atmosphere and the quality of drinks, despite us being ‘Premium Plus’ were without doubt the worst we have ever had.
I would point out that if you have chosen to go half board then they are not only poor quality they are also exorbitantly expensive. 12 Euro’s for a cocktail.
What this area lacks in atmosphere though is made up for by once again the superb staff, Dimitrious was wonderful, every night he tried his best to make sure everyone was happy, recommended drinks and was both charming and entertaining.
He is a real credit to his job and this hotel.
The second area is the pool area which is bright, noisy and full of children. The entertainment was really not to our taste at all, apart from the first night when there was a Beatles tribute band which was superb.

The bedroom we had was really nice, we had a double aspect balcony with table and chairs and we were on the second floor. We stayed in room 311 which was quiet and in a very good location for everywhere.
We changed rooms on the first night as we had been allocated a ground floor room which was extremely dark and overrun with ants, room 124.
A point to note is that all of the beds in the hotel are twin beds with the inevitable problem of one of you disappearing down the middle. We said we had really wanted a double bed and in minutes a thick and good quality mattress topper was bought to our room and ‘converted’ into a double which was extremely comfortable. We slept well during our whole stay.
The maid service was good and all rooms were clean and fresh every day. There is a safe to use and plenty of wardrobe space. The fridge is useful as you can take bottled water back to keep fresh. The fridge has two bottles of water when you arrive and a bottle of white wine but it is never refilled with anything after your arrival.
One point for the ladies, if you need a hairdryer you must take your own, the one in the bathroom is laughably poor, you could blow harder! The addition of a full length mirror would be good when you are getting ready to go out. There are robes and little slippers in your wardrobes.
The pools are superb and there were always loungers available and fresh towels.
We had a great holiday but the evenings here really disappointed us, the lack of atmosphere, Poor entertainment, darkness of bar areas, horrific mosquito problem, which nothing is done about and many people were covered in bites and such poor drinks combined with nothing outside of the hotel that we could walk too mean we would not visit this hotel again despite its many positive features.
A couple of points Romeos bar across the road is superb and well worth a visit and also the bikes are great fun as there are so many cycle paths
