“Good, but not 5 star!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014

Well, this was our first trip to Kos and after a lot of looking we booked All-inclusive for the Kos imperial in Psalidi. We were really looking forward to it as we had stayed at another Grecotel (Eva palace in Corfu) a couple of years ago and it was really, really good.
On arrival, the hotel reception was everything that we were expecting- Very grand, and after check-in and a little hiccup with our rooms (which was quickly sorted out) we were whisked off to our rooms.
Sorry to say that they were not the biggest I have seen and, there was a musty smell in the room, which was a little disappointing. Nothing to get too vexed about though. what was missing from the 2 rooms that we were in however was a kettle and coffee and tea facilities, so I had a word at reception and it appeared the next day.
The grounds at the hotel were well kept, largely clean and spacious, but the pools- All of them, were flipping freezing. I mean iceberg/teethchatteringly cold. A little heating just to take the edge off would have been good. The lazy river also was good to its title as it wasn't working at all during our stay. Shame really:(
The pool sunloungers were the stretched nylon type that invoke lumbago after 15 minutes, Not like the thomson brochure pictured. what I would have given for a cushioned one. No wonder there was no need to get up early to put your towels on them! Not great for a '5* hotel.'
The bar staff and waiters were really professional, and nothing was too much trouble for them although, at lunchtimes, the poolside restaurant at times resembled a warzone. They were completely rammed with guests requiring food and tables and there really was no ambiance in being wrestled by rude guests hellbent on elbowing you out of the way while you were queueing.
The dress code for the evening meal is also somewhat compromised by the shreiking children of the wrestling guests. of course these children are also learning how to shove you bodily away from the food just like them.
The food was varied and on the whole very good. But sadly not quite in the right place to feel special.
The evening entertainment was not that great either but horses for courses.
All in all I feel that this hotel is nice, the staff are excellent and and the food is good. If you have kids then you may think differently, but for me this hotel good but is definitely not 5 star!!

So I arrived in Paradise the 8th July 2014. I went on a "special-bonding" holiday with my mother. We got picked up at the airport and taken to the lovely Kos Imperial. We were greeted,(check-in had already been done for us), and then finally got taken to the room.

The room was lovely, absolutely perfect. It had every necessity, not to mention the HUGE plate of fruit waiting for us on the table! At the back we had a private swimming pool and further down the crystal clear sea.

The staff made us feel a thousand-dollars. I don't think this holiday would have been the same without those guys...I'm sure I made life long friends with some. So friendly, so polite, ever so attentive to our every need!!! Somebody was always around to help, if you needed it. They weren't annoying at all - you know when they're always lurking around? Well, not at Kos Imperial!!!

We went on day trips, you can go into Kos town to look at all the nifty shops, visit the various locations on the island, get the boat to Bodrum (Turkey), rent quads (even though I didn't, my mother was too scared!) and LOADS of different things.
The hotel organized this little trip to Zia, to see the sunset and have local lemonade and lemon pie (Oh so yummy). It was such a magic moment, I'll never forget it.

The hotel is great for families, for newly-weds, for some alone time, for older people who simply want to sit down, relax and breathe the fresh air.
Absolutely HUGE premises, I definitely would have gotten lost without the staff!!! Different swimming areas, one for animation, kids and plenty of noise, the other in a "quiet area" for those who only want to hear their own breathing.

The animation team - oh boy did I have fun with them!!!! Every night there was a different program. The team is composed by really hard working people, who work at the hotel by day and animate your lives at night!! I must admit that the best night was when they had 3 tenors "IL DIVO" from England come in. I literally had butterflies in my tummy.

If you want your holiday to be AMAZING, go have a chat with the "Guest services Agent" - that girl, is absolutely THE BOMB. I felt so privileged to have her assist us and organize things for us. She's extra special and just made everything pure bliss.

All I can say is this holiday was pure "Mαγεία", which to me and you that means MAGIC.

Thank you Kos Imperial, I shall be back.

S.C.

We have just returned for a wonderful week at the Grecotel Kos Imperial. We arrived late due to a short delay but hotel had keep resturant open with a full selection of food(not the normal sandwich). This hotel is set in lovely grounds. Staff from cleaners to managers could not have been more friendly. Food very good selection you would be very picky if unable to find suitable meals.. Advise the all inclusive option, no plastic wrist band wonderful.

Room Tip: All rooms seem ok but would advise the garden view.

We had a very good holiday at this hotel, which is situated in a nice and large garden with 2 large pools (for animation) and one smaller pool in a quiet area of the garden. All facilities are clean, service is very good, staff very friendly and helpful, large buffets with range of choice. Don't expect trendy or contemporary interior design or decoration, this hotel has more traditional and local flavour. Only a few minor shortcomings why we feel it is not a 5 star (although this did not keep us from enjoying our stay) : 1) wifi only in the lobby, not even on the terrace of the lobby; 2) no tea or coffee amenities in the room; 3) on the terraces for breakfast and dinner, smokers and non-smokers are mixed, which is really not pleasant for non-smokers. The restaurant has 4 large terraces, so 2 seperate zones can easily be accomodated; 4) their all-in is not "all-in", only a selection of products is, so I'm not sure that it is beneficial.

As great lovers of the Greek islands, we visited Kos for the first time this year. The things that need to be mentioned are the lovely location, the friendly staff and the cleanliness of the hotel. We were impressed by Kos Imperial, as it is the first time that we meet such a powerful combination!

My wife and myself have just spent two weeks at the Greco Kos Imperial Hotel (18.06.14 - 2.07.14). We arrived late evening approx 9.20pm following an horrendous transfer with Thomsons. The hotel reception staff were great and told us to go straight into the restaurant for some food and they would sort our accommodation out after we had eaten.
We did then relax a little and enjoyed a nice meal. The Hotel and the staff were both exceptional for the duration of our stay.
I think the drinks are over priced and the entertainment leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered a bottle of red house wine and was charged 20 euro's for it. They were selling the same wine in the on site supermarket for around 6.5 euro's.
We had a family bungalow towards the rear 509 which was next to the main road which initially did not please us. However we asked about moving and was told that we could move on the Sunday. However when Sunday arrived we were shown another room with a sea view and balcony but we had grown quite fond of the existing so we declined the offer to move.
We never found a need to sneak out in the middle of the night to place towels on beds, there are that many pools and beach side beds that you could also ways find somewhere to lay and relax.
The selection of food and the the efficiency of the staff is fantastic and I do not think anyone could find an honest complaint.
The entertainment on the other hand is poor to put it mildly and all the acts appear at the pool bar and the place is dominated by families with the kids. This is fair enough for families but I think it would have been nice to have something in place for just adults.
The poolside entertainment team are all young and very enthusiastic and cheerful and tried to involved everyone in the activities as well as looking after the children.
Negatives.
The Hotel is 4 kilometres outside Kos town and if you would like to stroll into town the first 15 minutes are on the main road with no pavements.
The Hotel is very poorly displayed at and if you go into town by bus you have difficulty seeing which stop you require.
Overall though we did have a lovely holiday and would return to this hotel.
Trevor and Susan Sheffield.

Room Tip: We stayed in a family bungalow 509 at the rear just down from reception and found it to be very good...

we have just returned from a 7 day stay, all in all a very relaxing time. After arriving late it was a pleasant surprise to find wine in the fridge and a bowl of fresh fruit .Hotel was lovely very clean. staff were very friendly and helpful. the hotel has three large pools with plenty of sun beds we did not use these as we preferred to go to the beach, which again there were plenty of beds every day. We were half board as the week went on and the hotel was full it began to be a bit of a mission where the even meals were concerned, The food court just wasn't big enough for the amount of people that were there and we noticed the food wasn't as hot as it could have been.. No problem at all getting seated to eat your meal once we had got it ! .We did not stay around the hotel in the evenings as we found the drinks were very expensive, we would go to Taverna Romeo which is a left turn out side main entrance to the hotel. this place is a little diamond a must visit. Kos town is only a short ride away on the bus or if you feel like an evening stroll there are a few bars along the way. We did enjoy our stay felt very relaxed but if you want a action packed holiday may be this isn't the place.
