Good hotel for families. All inclusive, good amount of free drinks. Good service, always with smile. Private beach , couple of pools with sea water. Couple minutes from Kos town. I'm definitely recommend one.

We travelled as a family of four (children are 6 and 9) at the end of May for 10 days. After last year's holiday in Kos, this was our second trip to Grecotel Kos.

We arrived around 8:30 on a Tuesday evening and after a quick and smooth checkin - no paperwork - we were brought to our room by one of the lovely ladies from guest relations. After unpacking we decided to go for a quick drink at the bar and were delighted to see many familiar staff faces from last year.

We had a family room close to the road and yes, the sewage smell did re-appear. But it was not a constant and only seemed to happen when the wind blew a certain way. It was not that strong that it was putting me off my holiday. I've smelled worse in London and Dublin!
A couple of things in our room that needed rectifying (an extra lamp for the kids' bedroom, more hangers and a bulb) were all sorted by the time we came back from breakfast the next day. Yes, rooms are starting to look a bit tired but we spent so little time in them, that it didn't bother me.

Food is varied and very good, just as we experienced last year. Even if you don't like a few things, there is so much to pick from.

I noticed new loungers around the pools and they were a vast improvement to last year's sunbeds.

Delighted to see that Yosita was back with Grecoland for another year and also to meet the fabulous team they have this year. My children loved every second with them; this was also early on in the summer when the hotel wasn't as busy and there were less children to play with, so full marks to the animation team for keeping the kids from getting bored. Particular mention here to Vika, Duda, Benny, Anastasia, Maria, Dudu, Yosita and Oktavian.

There's no doubt that the fantastic staff make Grecotel what it is. I can't remember all the names, but Zak at the pool bar, Erion, Sigi, Kyriakos & Tina from the restaurant, Christina at the pool restaurant, Dorina & Dimitris from the atrium bar all made our stay so much more enjoyable.

Saw a lot more of Kos this time than last year too. The trip into Kos town was straightforward on the bus. When we were there, they had a free choo choo train going to Asklepion which is definitely worth a trip. Beautiful views and quiet amongst the trees and ruins.

Going the other direction from Grecotel, we came to Agios Fokas beach (about 40 min walk if you want a bit of exercise). Great music and chilled atmosphere.

We are already planning our next trip to Grecotel Kos either next year or the year after.

I had to laugh at the Dan L. from Boston comment below. Something must have gone spectacularly wrong for him....

My family which included a 12 & 11 years old spent 2 weeks here in August, please if you have read any negative reviews of this hotel ignore. This hotel offered fantastic service, the staff from reception, restaurants, bar & housekeeping are all so friendly and make you feel so welcome.
The hotel is right on the beach, plenty of sun beds with umbrellas and showers available, yes it is a shingle beach, which may not appeal to everyone but don't let that put you off. There are 4 outdoor pools including a children's pool, a quite pool and even a lazy river within one of the larger pools, also includes a swim up pool bar.
The food is great, a vast choice for breakfast including a crepe station, which really impressed the kids. Lunch is served in the tarvena restaurant overlooking the pools & sea views. Dinner was hugely impressive a huge choice of food, many freshly prepared in front of you, over 2 weeks things were new and different each evening, so nice to have many traditional Greek dishes too.
In the evening there is entertainment around the tarvena some good, some a bit cheesy, but never bothered us as we preferred after our meal to have drinks in the lobby bar that had lounge music, including a piano player, jazz singers or saxophone player, all really good.
Our room was very spacious and always cleaned to a very high standard, when we arrived check in was quick and easy.
So the biggest negative I kept reading was about no internet or not good wi fi connection, ok it's not great but it didn't spoil our holiday as we were there to recharge our batteries and spend quality family time together, if all that matters to you is having a gadget constantly in your hand maybe you don't need a holiday.
The only negative, which has nothing to do with the hotel, is that Kos airport is very small & not well organised so just be prepared to go with the flow!!
Make sure you book a tour of the island with your tour rep, Kos is a beautiful island, with lots of history and definitely worth exploring.
We had booked all inclusive which was definitely worth it, as we never had to worry about paying anything extra, great drinks, what was good was the soft drinks they were proper branded drinks in the bottles, not watered down imitations which I know many other places often do.
We wouldn't hesitate to return to this lovely hotel.
The hotel doesn't have much around it, Kos town is not far though either by bus, the stop is right outside the hotel or by taxi.

Recently spent a week at the Kos Imperial. Very clean hotel and rooms very good standard. No wi-fi in rooms as the wi-fi was only available in reception and by the pools and this was an extremely slow connection. The restaurant offered a large variety of food as they try to cater for all nationalities, this was of a good standard. Entertainment in the hotel every evening though we only saw one act, The 3 Tenors who were fantastic. As there were no restaurants and bars nearby we got the bus to Kos town most evenings, less than 10 minutes on the bus and loads of bars, restaurants and shops to chose from. The hotel staff were brilliant, very friendly and nothing too much trouble. 3 large pool areas are lovely, one very busy pool which was ideal for children, a quiet pool which was great and a further lovely pool. I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Kos. The only downside for me was the Wi-Fi, the fact that the pools were saltwater, and no iron/ironing boards available, although you could use an ironing service which you obviously paid for.

My Family and i spent in August one week at the Grecotel Kos Imperial and we had a wonderful stay. The staff is very friendly and helpfull, the hotel is very clean. The food was really good, lots of choice. The hotel has good location, located only ca 5 km away of the city Kos. Is very great, that there are pools with sea water and excellent poolbar service. We booked 2 rooms with a limited sea view and we have got upgrade- one room right at the sea front and second room- wonderful suite right at the sea front with a large teracce. We were really excited! Grecotel Imperial is highly recommended for relaxing holidays for couples and too holidays for families with children. It was really very enjoyable stay and i can it recommend. I hope to come back there again.

We had two weeks at the Imperial, and after reading the mixed reviews wasn’t sure what to expect !
We had a “bungalow” which was actually a 3rd floor apartment, very clean and quite spacious for the two of us.
Some points mentioned in other reviews, I can echo, the wi-fi isn’t the best, when it did work it was available in the reception and pool area, and as we faced the pool, we sometimes got a signal in the room. However, it was slow and did keep dropping out.
Drinks very expensive at the hotel – we went half board, the mini market over the road sold drinks and snacks at far better prices. Apart the mini market, the only other things nearby are a go karting track, and Romeo’s tavern.
Down the road there are other hotels and mini markets, about 15-20 mins walk, however, there aren’t proper footpaths, and at night the road is very dark.
The bus stop to Kos town is outside the hotel, and is 2 euros there, as you buy ticket on the bus, and 1.5 euro for the return trip as you buy ticket before getting on the bus.
The bus was regular, last bus back was 11pm, the only downside for the trip back is that they cram 100 or so people on the bus. It’s a free for all, the bus arrives and from nowhere around 100-150 people appear to fight to get a place on the bus!
The staff at the hotel, were all polite, helpful, and professional – nothing seemed to be a problem. For example, one of the chaps on reception, took a blade out of a pencil sharpener to use to tighten the arm on the wife’s glasses!
The rooms were very clean, the maid coming in each day.
The sunbeds by the pools are “reserved” quite early by guests putting towels on them – by 9am towards the end of our two weeks, the beds were all taken. Although there was usually beds on the shingle beach, available – for free.
The hotel offer a free towel service which was great, you could use the towels by the pools or the beach.
We found the food to be fine, varied, and a vast choice each night and morning.
The other point is Kos airport – clearly a place not designed to handle flights or indeed people. Chaotic is the best way to describe the place – we landed 7.30pm, and eventually one of the two carousals started up – neither monitor was working, so we assumed the bags were from our flight, seeing how no other flight had come in.
After a while, the bags stopped coming, and the other carousal started up, as a London flight had arrived.
The monitor on the second carousal then came on saying the bags from the London flight were on the carousal. In reality the two carousals had a mixture of bags from both flights, so people were having to keep an eye on both.
Coming back wasn’t any better, the monitors stated the Birmingham flight was depending from gate 4 - however no access was given to get to gate 4, and no one working there seemed to care or know which gate was being used. In the end it was gate 1 – but again the monitors by the gates weren’t on, so it really was guess work.
Kos harbour was just as chaotic as we discovered when we took a boat to Turkey – allow plenty of time if you use the harbour!

Room Tip: room 583 over looks pool, and has limited sea view

Resort very good, we stayed Bed and Breakfast, Breakfast is a very good buffet, we ate dinner in Kos town as Hotel meals were expensive, pools are large clean and warm, beach is pebbly.
bus to Kos town stops outside Hotel, takes about 15-20 mins, usually standing room only (3 euros)
we usually taxied back (10 euros) bus would be very crowded.
Entertainment at resort was more suited for German or Russian tastes, who were the majority at this resort. staff were an absolute delight, efficient, attentive and very friendly. the junior suite was very good.
