“its okay but.......”
Reviewed 30 June 2011

Just got back from Kos and sat down to write this review, then read the previous review and it has said it all for me! We would like to emphasize a few things, the food is so bland and tasteless! It has to be said the kitchen staff are masters at recycling the previous meals veggies, cheese and ham etc. Also the charges for the drinks at the evening meals are way over the top i.e. 1lt water 3.20euro (pack of six at the shop up the road 2.60euro!), small coke or fanta 2.20euro etc. The rooms are okay, the balconys are fairly private with them being set on an angle, but you can hear every noise, every door slam, every piece of furniture being moved, the TV on in the next room etc. The pool area is clean although for the size of the hotel a few more sunbeds are called for! The usual practice of leaving towels on sunbeds and then going off to town for the day goes on here I'm afraid. .
But lets cover a few of the good points, air con free of charge, When we went to Crete last year we were expected to pay nearly 60 euro a week! (we didnt!). The staff are frendly, and entertainment is provided every night for those who dont want to venture out. When we were there it was hot, but also there was a nice refreshing breeze off the sea, we were told this factor brings the regular visitors back every May and September. Kos is a really nice place, and well worth a visit. We found the Koans lovely people and very easy to get on with. We will certainly revisit although I think it will be self catering next time.

Room Tip: ask for a quiet, upper floor room

Arrived after midnight so was pleased check in was swift we were given key and a/c control and were off to room 216...didn’t unpack and managed to get a drink in the bar 7euros for two pints and friendly staff...

Breakfast usual stuff salads, cheese, hams, beans bacon (some days)juices etc..its a matter of finding a table set with a couple of serviettes and cutlery and you sit, nobody shows you to a seat and this is the same at evening meal though someone will come to get your drinks order we paid 3.20 euros every evening for a large bottle of water (adds up over a fortnight) food is plentiful though a bit repetitive at the end of two weeks there is always something you will fancy. A Barbie takes place on a Friday everything the same just extras like pork on sticks and chicken legs in snack bar around the pool.

The view in the morning was of a field and to the right the sea, the balcony’s are very private so that’s nice. Beware the constant banging of the doors in the corridor it is so LOUD I am really surprised others have not commented on this its one of the nosiest hotels I have stayed at in this respect.

Room was really big could have got another bed in, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, extra pillows and a mini bar (we thought the wine on the top of the table was a freebie so packed it away only to be informed it was part of the mini bar…so we put it back) lol air con was really good…bathroom was ok shower really powerful and shower gel in dispensers on wall,

Pool area clean only used it twice one day we were back from a tour about 3.30 ish and we couldn’t get a sun bed though did not expect to get one at that time there was plenty of chairs to sit in the beautiful gardens on.

Staff and cleaners always nice and happy especially the very helpful and mentioned on many posts…Irene. If you want to know something ask her.

Many Germans and Dutch use the hotel and bike hire is greatly used as there are cycle lanes all around. We used a little beach over the road as it had the best sand right next to a bar called spitaka 5 euros for 2 beds and brolly it’s a bit rocky going in the sea but keep to the left and its fine.

Walk to town 25 minutes passing bars tavernas and our main haunt the Yacht Café bar ran by a lovely family from north east England. Wish I was there now.

Had a great time met lovely people hope this review helps someone.

This was our first visit to the Greek islands. We had a good two weeks. Local people are very fiendly and helpfull. Local drinks were good and reasonably priced. The hotel was the cheapest place to drink. Food was good. Cater for all tastes. Rooms comfortable and the iairconditioning was quiet and superb for the warm nights.
There was live entertainment evry night in the courtyard. Area is very popular with the Dutch.
Beware the organsed trip to Turkey. It was chaos. We waited an hour in Turkey for a mini bus. The courier lost some of our party. One party lost their courier who got left behind in Turkey. Just book the ferrry yourself. It is half the price and you are within walking distance of markets and cafes etc.

We arrived to a warm welcome and were made to feel very much at home at this beautiful, clean friendly hotel.
Good size rooms, very spacious with shower and bath as well as bidet in the bathroom.
My only gripe was that the T.V ( not that we wanted to see a lot of tv )was geared up for germans, when my hubby wanted to see a UK match he could not because the large screen in the bar was geared up for germany.
The food was lovely and abundant, bar prices a little pricey but service - great.

My friend I visited Kos on 9th Sept and found this hotel everything we could hope for, the location was excellent, hotel was spotless, all the staff were very pleasant and helpful, particularly Irene on Reception, Irene your "twoScottish ladies " have not forgotten you or your kindness and we are still working on the "cloutie dumpling".

I had read many reveiws about the Continental Palace before I went to the hotel and the comments were very well deserved. if I ever visit Kos again I would be sure to return. thanks again for making our holiday special

Continental palace was an excellent choice to stay. Would recommend it to anyone. Had a lovely sea view from bedroom. Approx 15 min walk - all flat to kos town, a great historical town and fab harbour. Went to turkey on the boat 10 euros each, be aware if booking through rep it was 40 euros each. Weather nice and hot all week, with plenty of sunbeds to go round any time of day, with nice mature gardens for shade. Only downside at the hotel was the food can be a bit repetitive.

We have travelled to several Greek Islands but Kos was by far the best.
The Hotel , Continental Palce enhanced this great holiday. It was in an excellent location being only a short walk to Kos Town in the evenings. I thought that the hotel was quite grand and spotless with excellent staff. I can not understand how some of the reviewers complained about the food. There may have been some dishes which I did not like but that does not mean that they were not good. If it was repetative it was because every type of food was there and I never once left my table feeling hungry.
The grounds were lovely as was the pool , again spotless and there was never a shortage of beds and cushions.
I never liked the idea of going back to the same place for a holiday but I would certainly be happy to return here.
