“Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

My wife and I have recently returned from a week in this hotel, We where pleased with our first impressions, the reception is large, with beautiful furnishings, with air conditioning and very clean and the staff where very friendly, and even though we arrived quite late in the evening the restaurant was still open for us to get a bite to eat whilst our bags where taken to our room.

The rooms are of a good size, a huge bed, 32" tv on the wall, a nice size shower although the toilet area was tiny!!. There is air conditioning in the room and a mini fridge which has a complementary bottle of wine and some water ( the water is replaced each day), we paid for an upgrade on the room to a sea view and this is what we got, it was a fantastic view (room 2391) a large balcony with a couple of chairs and a table.

Meal times are good, there was a massive selection of food, which changed every night, and there is something for everyone, vegetarians need not worry as i've never seen so much salad vegetables and fruit, my wife was very happy, probably the best range of food i've seen in a all inclusive hotel, and the staff are very good especially the Head Waiter. The bars are well stocked (with local booze which isn't the strongest we have had) but if you smile and have a bit of a chat with the bar staff they give you a good measure...

The pool area is kept very clean, plenty of sun loungers so there is no need to do a mad dash early in the morning although some people did. The larger pool has a big bar area where you can get drinks and coffee, as this is in the shade it was very welcome on the hot afternoons, at the smaller pool you can get drinks, pancakes toasties and ice cream.

The hotel is on the beach if you can call it that, there is no sand only pebbles, and a beautiful garden area which is very popular with loads of sun loungers and hammocks.

As with every review there has to be something that isn't quite as expected.... first of all the towels in the bathroom are grubby and grey they could do with a change, but most of all the hotel is advertised as a couples only hotel (with Thomson's) however it is not!!! it should be advertised as an adult hotel, as there where families there with older kids and groups of young adults, also there are a lot of German and Russian people there, who where a little bit noisy.

However all in all this was a lovely break and we would recommend to others to give it a try, The staff once again are very good and the entertainment team are great not in your face just the right kind of mix for this type of holiday.

We stayed at the Oceanis for two weeks at the beginning of August with friends. Upon arrival check in was quick and the staff very helpful. We had a garden view room which was immaculate and very comfortable. All four of us could have slept in the enormous bed! We especially liked the 'disco' led lights in the shower head. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - in particular Christos the head barman who never flinched at my friends and my strange cocktail requests (we were making up our own and he made them willingly) and Antonis the matre de who was always cheerful and friendly. The grounds and pool area were kept very clean and tidy although we were disappointed that the reserving of subeds with towels before 10 am rule was not enforced. We were also surprised that German people who booked through Tui Germany got a much better deal than English people who booked with Thomson. eg, they got free wi fi - we had to pay for it, they got much nicer pool towels, ours were a bit faded and tatty. We were also quite annoyed on three evenings when a greek couple came into the lobby lounge and turned the air con off. When we asked the waiter to put it back on he said that he could'nt because they were Greek and felt the cold!
On a couple of ocassions we were aware of people with children wandering up the steps from the beach which adjoined a public beach but I think they were asked to leave quite rapidly. The beach is not particularly nice with stones and pepples so if you like the beach, take beach shoes to go into the sea. There were lots of sunbeds and parasols on the beach and on the grass bank leading to the beach. We always sat round the big pool and loved tghe huge bean bags that were scatted about. There is no waiter service for drinks round the pool which were surprised about and they do not provide bottled water for free - again something that we have always had before. The queue for the pool bar did get long on occasions and sometimes we had to wait a while to be served.
There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and it is only 3 euros return into Kos town. We didn't book any excursions via the Thompson rep. We booked them ourselves which was much cheaper. We went over to Bodrum on the ferry (20 euros) and then got the bus to Turgetreis which has a fantastic market - worth a visit. We also booked an island trip at the port and went on a pirate ship called Eva where we sailed round the islands and stopped at an uninhabitted island and had a bbq on the beach.
The entertainment at the Oceanis is very low key and we didn't really bother with it although rather by luck than judgement we did catch the fire show one evening which I have to say was so bad it was comical!
The food was amazing and the best I have ever had in an AI hotel. There was no dishes which were obviously made from the day befores leftovers and no repeats in the two weeks we were there.
We booked a massage in the spa in our first week and you get to use the spa facilities if you book a treatment or you can pay 20 euros to just use the spa with no treatments. My nIassage was meant to be an aromatherapy massage but I must admit, I felt like I had done ten rounds with Frank Bruno - relaxing it wasn't!! The actually spa facilities are excellent though and well worth a visit for two or three hours.

All in all, this is a lovely hotel with helpful friendly staff, nice rooms, fantastic food and if you want a completely chilled out holiday, then this is the place for you. We would definately go back again.
All in all this hotel is a lovely, quiet hotel with

Room Tip: Rooms with private pools are overlooked by normal rooms above.

My fiance and I stayed at the Oceanis for 11 nights 17th-28th August and I have to say it's one of the best holiday's we've had. We had a lovely room which looked over the beach and you could see one of the swimming pools. The hotel was lovely and clean and all the staff were very friendly and went out of there way to help you if you had any problems. The food was really nice and plenty of variety to choose from. I have to say that the pancakes from the pool bar were delicious especially the chocolate ones!! There was always sunbeds available any time of day wheather you wanted one by either swimming pool or on the beach. we did two excursions, a trip to Turkey which was good and a trip to the volcano which was very interesting and I would highly recommend. We would definitely go back as we had a fantastic time.

Room Tip: room on the high floor are good.

This is a beautiful and peaceful hotel that was the perfect place for a lazy 2 week break for a young couple. The staff were exceptional, particularly Eleana in the Greco Cafe who makes (seemingly) hundreds of pancakes and toasties each day and still finds time to ask how you are and offer a friendly greeting, she really was lovely.
On arrival, the check in was very quick and we were taken on a golf buggy with our room where a man brought our bags a short while later. The restaurant opened for us from 11-12pm due to our late arrival, and whilst the food at that time wasn't particularly nice, we were very grateful to the thoughtfulness of the staff and the opportunity to go to bed with warm food in our tummies!
The next morning was a tad confusing as we couldn't find where to get beach towels from, but when we figured out it was by the beach and opened at 10, it was no problem! We had taken our own beach towels as we hadn't realised there was this service so my advice would be not to take any of your own.
We had paid for the most standard room and had emailed ahead to request a room on the top floor of block 3 and we are so glad that we did! It had stunning views and was very quiet. The balconies are small but more than adequate to sit with a glass of wine and catch the last of the sun! We found the design to be very tasteful and liked the bathroom and it's quirky design! There was no problem with privacy, despite the glass doors, as the toilet was in the bathroom area and couldn't be seen unless someone else entered that section - not going to happen when there's only two of you! There weren't many coat hangers so we were glad we had taken our own.
The pools were lovely but we found the main pool to be a bit too rowdy and packed for our liking so we used the quiet pool for 12 days of our holiday and loved it there. It was very peaceful and we had everything we needed from the Greco Cafe.
My partner is a head chef himself and was very impressed with the food, as was I. There was a lot of variety and all of the dishes were very tasty. It would be pretty difficult not to get a little fed up with buffets after a little while so we had lunch at the Greco cafe (just toasties or crepes) after a while and we made full use of our 2 visits to the a'la carte. We thought the food at this restaurant was beautiful and really well presented. You get a wide range of starters brought to your table and choose your main. We both had the same main each time (chicken and lamb) as it was lovely and we were not disappointed! We didn't mind about the fact you had to pay for wine as we just had spirits and beer instead so that wasn't a problem. The desserts weren't the greatest but certainly no reason to put us off! I would highly recommend a visit here!
The location was remote but it was exceptionally easy to get into Kos town, just 1e50 each way and only about a 15 min drive. We went there for one day and two evenings for a change of scenery and it was a nice break. As we liked the hotel food so much, we didn't eat out as we had planned too but went for cocktails and a stroll.
Finally, we visited in the spa on-site and would recommend spending half a day or a day using the facilities. The steam room was beautiful with colour-changing lights in the roof and we enjoyed going in the pool, pressing the buttons and not knowing what would happen next! We had a massage each, which wasn't cheap, and they were both fine but not the greatest massages we've had.
Some small improvements could be made by this hotel to cater better for a younger crowd we think, including having somewhere to watch sports and playing better music in the bars; the beach bar was lovely but had THE most depressing and horrendous music we've ever heard! One song actually talked about kissing someone, catching their germs and getting pnuemonia and this was played all the time! We laughed about it a lot but couldn't bear to sit in there for too long due to the awful music. We did ask the lovely barman if he could change it but he said he wasn't allowed to. Dan, the musician, was very good and talented, but was barely on while we were there and we couldn't find him some of the times when the board said he was playing so we're not too sure what that was about. Finally, the hotel could have more activities available as we didn't find any opportunities to talk with other guests, particularly younger ones. It was a little disappointing that not all drinks were part of the all inclusive package but we did buy some of the 'cocktails of the day' when they were 4e which wasn't too bad a price.
All in all, this was a lovely hotel and was exactly what we both wanted: relaxing! We probably wouldn't go back as 2 weeks was enough time to spend there and I think any more could verge on the boring as there wasn't much to do.

Room Tip: Top floor in block 3 for a standard room gave us sea views and a quiet location

Me and my girlfriend have recently returned from our 2nd visit to this wonderful hotel since 2011. Our first visit exceeded all expectations so we didn't hesitate in rebooking for august 2013.

The hotel itself is modern, clean, spacious and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. On both occasions we have stayed in a standard double room with garden view. These rooms are far from standard, with huge king size beds, large shower, big wardrobes and modern furnishings. Our balconies over looked the fantastic gardens and a good view of turkey across the sea. The rooms were always clean and tidy, with the cleaners doing a fantastic job morning until night. On arrival, you are supplied with bottled water and white wine. As we were there on our second visit, we were also given red wine and a fruit basket. The bottled water is constantly replenished each day by house keeping.

The food here for breakfast, lunch and dinner is fantastic! There is always a large variety of hot and cold choices for each meal. Freshly cooked fish including squid, mussels and prawns were always on my plate. There is also a vast variety of meats, pasta, rice, veg, salads, sauces, cheeses and breads to name just a few. The deserts were unbelievably delicious, with cakes, pastries, fresh fruit and ice creams. They also have theme nights occasionally, we particularly enjoyed the Greek and Chinese evenings.

Would like to thank the general manager Patty for her dedication in running this hotel. Antonis, the maitre de such a great man always having a chat he really works the rooms talking to everybody. George the spa manager good guy and would make us laugh. Flora at the pool bar a lovely lady with a big smile and always happy. And thumbs up to all other staff who work there. Ignore what everybody else says just get yourself there and enjoy! Will be back next year Yamas

Room Tip: Go for what you feel. Room with outdoor pool or jacuzzi it's up to you.

We didn't pay the extra for a sea view but requested a quiet room in block three (believed to be the quietest block) on a high floor with a garden view. The room décor etc was impressive but the location left a bit to be desired. Our balcony was tight into an internal corner and we could shake hands with our neighbours who were at right angles to us (and had presumably paid for a sea view but hadn't bargained for such close neighbours). We weren't too bothered since we don't spend a lot of time on the balcony, and really they were too small. We could also overlook the swimming pools of the ground floors rooms, which incidentally saw very little sun (I would have been very disappointed with that location).
That said, there was plenty of room with room to spare around the pools, on the grass embankments and on the pebble beach. We tried them all and settled mainly for the beach, because of the better breeze. All the staff, without exception, were really polite and friendly. A particular mention to Antonis the maître d who was very welcoming and was always ready to find us a table, he even tried to converse in Welsh with us. Another particular mention must go to Christina, always very chatty and ready to point out the Greek evening in the main bar, where she was ready to join in (between her waitressing duties) the traditional Greek dancing. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Italian restaurant (wine paid for separately).
In conclusion the hotel really is beautiful and modern we were highly delighted and will recommend this hotel to others.
As a final footnote, the authorities (encouraged by the hoteliers) must do something about the dreadful airport, if their business is going to thrive. The airport is the one and only thing that will stop us going back. I know this is nothing to do with the quality of hotel, but it will affect their business in time, if they don't bring pressure to bare themselves.

Room Tip: Don't ask for quiet room

Good points:
+ gorgeuos garden
+ suberb and extremly friendy maids – top class!
+ nice and friendly management
+ location
+ Anemos and Yaht Club´s food is good(plenty of choice)
+ cleanliness is perfect every place in hotel area, inside and outside
+ the hotel worker who removed the towels of those people, who tied to reserve sunbeds to themselves before 10am.
+ entertainment was little bit better than last year, but still program is mostly aimed for the older people (lots of sixties and seventies music)
+ fashion show was good
+ staffs friendliness
+ Dan who playd his guitar in Anemos at daytime when people were eating – good idea!
+ luggage-men
+ the Spa
+ MiniMarket and the workers in there
+ Sea Sports
+ extremely romantic hotel
+ young men waiters who served melon slices to everyone by the pool area around 5pm, very good idea!

Improvement:
- in the evening sometimes it took quite long to get service on your table(there could be few more of waiters serving people)
- at the daytime it took sometimes quite long to get a drink behind the bar and there were a lot of people (mainly middle aged bear thirsty men) who arrogantly jump to queue. But there are still few gentlemen. Maybe the hotel could have beer taps and soft drink taps so people could take for themselves the drinks
- sometimes there were families with children walking and swimming in the beach, even though this hotel is adults only hotel
- Hippocampus (food wasn´t so special) and the service was little arrogant for some of the workers
- there is no free mild alcohol (if you don´t like beer) like Smirnoff Ice, ciders, Bacardi Breezer etc. This is a problem if you don´t like to drink strong alcohol-drinks like coctails, wine, ouzo etc. For me this was a big minus...
- sometimes the meat and black olives were extremely salty in Yaht Club
- little bit bad lighting in the bathroom to do your makeup
- the fakir-show were same that was last year, although it was good but hope they have something new next year

Overall fantastic hotel and fantastic holiday. We would definitely come back to the Oceanis in next year!
Special thanks to friendly women in Yaht Club, the Romanian young man waiter in Anemos, Giannis young man waiter by pool bar, Paquel and Ahmed.
