This was the first time I had been to Kos and my boyfriend and I wanted a nice cheap hotel to stay and plenty to do. This is exactly what we got. The hotel staff were friendly and worked hard constantly cleaning and making sure everyone was happy! There were plenty of sun loungers and a huge pool which was spotless!

The pool bar was great, the food was delicious and the drinks reasonable. There are plenty of tavernas within walking distance and Kos town is about a 20 minute walk away.

All in all we had a fantastic time at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing, cheap, hassle free getaway!

We usually stay at the Nicon apartments in Psalidi, Kos but when I did a search of possible accommodation, the Iris came up and we knew it was next door. it was much cheaper than the Nicon although there wasn't much atmosphere!!!! We spent all our time at the Nicon anyway which is brilliant. The iris, however, is spotlessly clean and the rooms large. My only complaint (nothing to do with the hotel) would be that because of the way the apartments are facing, you don't get any air or breeze in the room so this year when the weather had been nearly 40 degrees outside, the room felt the same. We had to have the air conditioning on all night so we could sleep. it was reasonable and very quiet though!

Holidayed at Iris Aparthotel in Sept.2010 and it was all we were hoping for. Very friendly staff and we were made to feel really welcome. Our room was great, overlooking the pool, and It was cleaned every day except Sunday with clean sheets & towels changed daily. My partner is disabled but we found the facilities excellent with ramps alongside all the steps. Loved the pool, although it is quite deep. There is a good supermarket just across the road and the beach is only a 5 minute walk away. Would definitely stay here again.

My Husband & I booked a last minute Holiday this year and as I have been to Kos before recomended it to Him as a lovely placce to visit. We looked on the web for a hotel and the Iris kept popping up. It looked like just the place we were looking for. And I am pleased to say that it was an excellent choice. The Hotel is fairly small which appealed to us as large complexes isn't our cup of tea. The rooms were clean, spacious and basically equipt. If you plan to eat in your room then it may not have all you want, but the pool bar offers cheap and delicious local food. The owners and their family are friendly but not in your face. The pool is very deep but you could always find a lounger around it at any time of the day which was great. The walk into Kos Town was around 30 mins but pleasant as you walk along the beach front. There was plently of local tavernas that offered local cuisine as well as a lot of Italian dishes. Our favourite was down the road on the beach front. I would recomded the Iris to anyone who wants a peaceful and relaxing Holiday it really is a hidden gem we will certainly be booking there again next year.

I read the previous reviews of the Iris Aparthotel in Psalidi Beach (just outside of Kos town) and was convinced that this was a good choice for a reasonably priced and enjoyable holiday. Having stayed in the resort of Tingaki previously I was aware that the best beaches required the use of a car or moped and the best quality night life (tavernas, bars, shopping) lay in Kos Town. The Iris Aparthotel is located a 25 minutes walk from Kos Town centre, along the road towards Aghios Fokas and in the area of Psalidi Beach (close to Kos Marina). We picked up a hire car from the airport (€200 for 12 days) and drove the 40 minutes journey to the apartments. It was easy to find the Marina and Psalidi beach however the apartments are not well signposted and area about 300m off the main road, up a side turning. Easiest way to find them is look out for Jimmy's supermarket and the apartments are the right turning directly afterwards (if you go as far as the Hippocrates Palace or Iberostar Hotels then you've gone too far). Iris apartments are located next door to the Alexandra Beach Aparthotel.
Upon arrival, the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The apartment (self catering) rooms are located on two levels facing onto the pool area. The first thing I noticed and continued to appreciate every single day was the level of cleanliness. Rooms are cleaned every day, bed lined changed most days and towels also every day. In a ground level apartment we had a raised terrace but found that this is such a lovely quiet place that noise is never a concern. These are truly the most spacious and clean apartments I've stayed in and for less than €200 for 12 days a bargain. Self catering facilities are adequate- good cooking and eating space, a twin ring hot plate, good sized fridge and sufficient cooking utensils. The bathroom is basically a wet room which means you can't shower without soaking most of the floor.
Air conditioning is about €4 per day. I would definitely return to the Iris (pronounced Ear- reece by the locals) as both location, cleanliness are good. If you want to be near a good beach and don't have transport then these apartments are not ideal.
Every morning we'd travel to the beaches on the south side of the island, near Paradise beach. It's crowded and more family oriented. Go for Magic beach or Sunny beach where the sand, water and space between loungers are all amazing. If you prefer to get an all over tan and can inflict very large, shaven, 50+ Germans upon your sensibilities, then Polemi beach (far end of Magic beach) is the place to go. Entering water is rockier here but the sand and space between your neighbours is also good. Price for 2 loungers is now a staggering €7. On the whole, Kos has become expensive due to the Euro/ GBP exchange rate in 2010. A main course will cost on average €8 and starters around €4. A bottle of Mythos is €4 and bottle of house wine (Carton quality Retsina) €10.
Things to do that are a must:
Visit the peacocks and cats in the forest at Plaka - (close to the airport)
Visit the Thermes (hot springs) 7Km outside Kos Town towards Aghios Fokas
Visit Sunny and Magic Beaches
See the Asklepion and have dinner in Zia as the sun sets

Don't bother with the resort of Kardamena unless you're up for Egg and chips and watching the football in an English bar. Beach isn't bad though.
Don't bother with day trips to Bodrum. It's in Turkey but may as well be an Starbucks, Gant, Marks and Spencer resort in the South of France.
Don't shop in local supermarkets. If you have a car then go to Lidl on the main road between Kos town and Tingaki or Max Dia (German chain) right beside the airport.

just got back from the iris apartments in psalida. lovely and clean, beds nice and comfy, air con 35 er. a week only thing you need to take a kettle with you, also no toaster/ hairdryer the owners kept to them selves to themselves did not know the names of the 2 barmen who where there, pool very very quiet only 4 people around the pool, pool very deep no good if you just want to have a dip to cool off, book somewhere else if you can`t swim
the taverna opp was good. supermarket over the road, 2 min walk to bus stop into kos town if you donot fancy the 25 min walk, which is quite painless.
would like to hear more greek music in the tavernas, after all thats why we love greece bit more expensive now,but not as much as we thought. we had a great holiday in a great position.

Stayed in the apartments which were a nice size only problem was the kitchenette was a fridge and a two ring stove thing few pans but no cutlery other than 2 sets of knifes & folks. Pool was very quite 3 in the afternoon could still find empty sunbeds. Swiming pool was lovely altho the shallow end is about 4ft deep and is only bout 4ft wide and the deep end is about 15ft. You have to pay 5euros per day for air con which we wasnt told only found out after talking to few people there,
Kos town is only 5 mins on the bus which stops just down the road from the holet only cos 1euro too. A lovely family run hotel
