On arrival for our 2 week stay, we were told they were overbooked and our self catering studio flat was not yet available and wouldn't be until Saturday lunchtime. (we arrived on Wed. evening!) We were told we could have a room in their "annexe" until then. It was about 300 metres or so up the road and had lots of power failures. All this was very disruptive as we didn't want to unpack only to have to pack all over again on changeover day. Also, we didn't buy many provisions, large water etc. as we didn't want to have to lug it all down the road to our studio flat. On the Saturday of changeover I made the mistake of asking what time we would get our apt only to be told we had to be out of the current one by mid-day as they might need the room! No way. We refused. We got in to our studio eventually by 3ish. Very spacious with lots of storage but very basic amount of cutlery etc. Bathroom floor always wet as no shower curtain, but always kept lovely and clean by the hard working cleaners. The dog being caged behind the apts and then being brought round and chained to the swings every evening really upset me. I feel that the overbooking (we weren't the only ones) was not a mistake but just greed. Needless to say, we would never stay there again. Kos town is lovely and well within walking distance, about 20mins.

Just returned from two weeks in Iris Apts ,September 2013.Overall enjoyed the holiday , but would not go back to these apts. The apts were ok plenty of room but to say they were self catering you would expect a kettle, and toaster, which were not provided just one small pan , and a two ring portable hob, you would not touch the plug for hob as bare wires were visible. The beds were uncomfortable. The bathroom was ok, but there was no shower curtain so the bathroom was always covered in water. The pool was large but no shallow end it was six foot deep at one end and aprox eight foot deep at other end, many of flagstones around pool were loose, and there were weeds growing inbetween them, there must have been at least a dozen cats roaming the apts, and chickens running around pool most of the time. The snacks at pool bar were good, and reasonably priced. location wise the apts were about a 25minute walk away from Kos town centre, which was a bit to far.Overall the apts had a tired feel about them and needed a total refurb. There were several restaurants close by which were all very good, but only one bar.Overall I would not recommend these apts.

Room Tip: There are hotel rooms on complex but we were informed that they were very small and dark so you were...

Once again we visit the Iris and find that nothing has changed. Kostas and Minas work so hard at the pool bar and Maria and Jenny still tend the rooms as brilliant as ever.
We were pleased to see other people that had returned here too; The Iris has returning custom every year and we always look forward to catching up. The rooms are kept very clean and the lads serve great food at a very reasonable price.
I was disappointed to see negative comments on here; as - actually - they are certainly not justified. Keep on doing what you do guys......it's a great job and we will always come back when we can.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Iris hotel in Psalidi, we arrived late evening so first impressions were ok, we were self catering so the spacious and clean studios were a welcome surprise.
Cosmos brochure states toaster, kettle neither were in the room very minimal amount of cutlery , no utensils to cook with, we were told there had never been toasters and the kettle we got a day later only just made 1 cup- we got the impression that if your not spending at the bar you don't exist- also the owners had a dog caged behind the studios which barked incessantly at night, a big plus were the 2 cleaners who couldn't have been more helpful and it is only 2minutes from the beach, a good hotel spoilt by rude and arrogant staff.

Dog in pen behind self catering rooms barks in the early hours and wakes people up stay away from rooms in this area.

Avoid pool side rooms as the bar plays loud music some nights and kept us awake until gone 2 am.

Electrics on cooker unsafe and blew out all the power after a loud bang and sparks.

owners blames guests for problems instead of trying to resolve them properly.

No hot water in the mornings.

No cooking utensils provided in self catering room

Very hard uncomfortable beds.

Held to ransom for aircon at 5 euro's a night in a location that gets well over 30c

We had a super 2 week holiday at this small family run hotel, the staff are all family members and are fantastic, the mother never seems to stops (she is a superstar). The rooms are spotless the bedding and towels are changed everyday. The only downside is the breakfast are the same day in and day out.

A group of us over 50's stayed here first 2 weeks of July. What a great little hotel, well maintained and problems (such as light bulbs) dealt with straight away. The family that own the hotel are very friendly and you can tell take pride in their hotel. Large rooms, clean bedding and towels every day. Lovely pool area also cleaned morning and night. Good food and always a welcome smile from Costas at the bar waiting for you with your drink. If you are thinking about booking this hotel - just do it - its great value and Costas greek night is second to none. Nicely located, about 15 minutes walk into Kos town but there is a regular bus route outside the hotel and at the top of the road and costs about 6 Euros in a cab. The local supermarket is appx 2 minutes walk away. We miss it already - Jan, Jen, Jo, Mary and Steve!!!!!
