“Great 5* Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2011

We stayed at this hotel late September 2011 for 2 weeks. This will be our 2nd visit to the hotel and again the Eleon Grand met all our requirements and more. That mixed with fantastic weather made our stay even more enjoyable. We had booked two superior rooms and were upgraded to Junior suites which was a nice surprise. We cannot thank the hotel and staff enough for the fantastic service and food that we received during our stay and will definitely be recommending the hotel to family and friends for future holidays. I will be returning next year for sure. Please don't listen to the negative reviews, this hotel is superb............

We stayed here in September 2011 and there was a large group of us who had different experiences and opinions on the hotel. Hotel was spotless in communal areas and pools are lovely and not overcrowded at all. Sunbeds did get busy but we never had an issue obtaining one. Plenty of areas to choose from and also the small beach area to use.The issue with the swimwear discolouration was annoying but when given a proper wash on arriving home all our items returned to normal colours!!! We travelled with children and there were plenty of parasols avalable to offer shade to the little ones.
The food selection was pretty good and I think most people would be able to find something they like. Plenty of fruit and salad available which was nice in the hot weather. We always asked for a bottle of water with our meals and then took this away with us as the bar charged for bottles of water as it is not included in all inclusive deals.
Our room was large and clean although we had a hole in the ceiling where they had miscut the light holes and we did have a problem with ants in the room. The bed was comfortable but we were dissapointed to find our room had two single beds pushed together instead of a double. free safety deposit box and towels changed twice a day. The hotel also provides pool/beach towels which saves space when packing!!! The fridge is a good size and very handy and the balcony was a good size. Our view was not great though and our bottom floor room had no balcony wall so children could run out as there was no confined area. We ended up not using this area because of this and the hotel were unable/unwilling to help us with this issue which was dissapointing.
The bar selection is fab and cocktails are lovely. All inclusive ends at 11 and at times the staff tried to stop us ordering double amounts of drinks for after this time but they were not very successful in this!!
I would definately recommend the hotel but would not say it was 5 star. It was also not particularly well suited to children as there was not that much for them to do. Entertainment team were very friendly but it would have been nice if there was a bit more variation. Also the entertainment and kids club etc are away from the main hotel area which was a bit of a pain at times. Taxi's are easily available if you fancy a change of scenery and they are reasonably priced. Local bus is cheaper and nice as you can see more of the local areas.

Room Tip: Higher floors appear to have less of a problem with ants and have proper balconies which were nice...

Newly retired, we sought a quiet, quality hotel offering out of season value for money. The Eleon Grand met all our requirements and more. This year-old hotel is a short taxi ride to the north of the busy little town of Tsivili. Airport taxi varied between 25 to 35euros...monkeys!
The hotel is modern, style led, with generous well-furnished lounge and bar areas. All the multi-lingual staff are friendly and helpful. The guests during our visit were a wide mix of Belgians, Swiss Germans, Poles, Greeks and Russians..and Brits. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining for all meals...the views are splendid. The food is excellent, fresh, varied and plentiful and the service quietly efficient. The pool area is a delight, including lawns, gardens, and a small olive grove...and a water-slide for the young ones. The 3 pools are a bit chilly, but there are plenty of quality beds and shades ( out of season benefit ), a full bar service all day including afternoon and evening snacks. The rooms are spacious with modern furniture, comfortable wide beds, free safe, wide-screen TV and even cotton bath robes.
The spa looked good, but we were content to lap up the view and the wonderful sunshine.
The hotel closes this week, re-opening Easter 2012
You will be hard put to find its' equal for a quiet chill out holiday......Enjoy.!

We stayed in April 2011 during Easter. This hotel was excellent value for money at this time of year with not too many people. The hotel feels so luxurious, with a high quality feel. During the time of year the staff had more time so we made friends with some of the staff. At Easter the hotel celebrated with fireworks, Easter Sunday lamb roast with professional Greek dancers and all the Greek celebrations. The hotel grounds are beautifully presented and cared for and the pool is wonderful, with color changing lights at night. The food at the restaurant was fantastic, lots of choice and good quality with free drinks and wine!!!! The weather at this time of year was perfect, every day was sunny with temperatures at 23-26C everyday!!!! Perfect and had an excellent holiday thank you!

Stayed at the Eleon from 19th to 26th September. Spectacular thunderstorm on the first full day followed by lovely sunshine for the rest of the week, this is a great time to go if you don't have kids, prices are lower, lovely sunshine but not too hot, hotel not too busy and sunbeds available up until around 9.30am!
Difficult to fault the hotel overall, eveything is to a high standard although agree that restaurant closing at 9pm is too early, chlorine was clearly present in the pools but not the issue that some are saying and there is still a bit of a drainage problem in the grassy areas near the pool after rain. Tragaki is quite small, 2 Tavernas? but Tsilivi is more lively and a 8 euro/ 10 min, taxi ride away. Would definitely return, probably late May or early Sept.

Room Tip: rooms facing the back were nice and quiet

This was our second year at the hotel (we spent two holiday’s here last year)– last year we agreed we would give this hotel another stay as although the first year opening seemed to be have many snagging problems we could see the potential of the hotel.

So we booked our main family holiday for end of August and a short break for my husband and I at the end of September. My goodness what a difference 1 month makes to this hotel!

When we arrived in August, we could not believe how busy the hotel was – it seemed completely overcrowded, and boy was this never a truer statement! The following morning, we awoke to find all the sun beds had been taken, by 6:30am! Over the next few days we even witnessed guests putting their towels out on sun beds at night. How ridiculous is that!
We also witnessed an altercation between two guests which made uncomfortable viewing. My husband addressed his concerns with the Manager, who is obviously well aware of the problem, but was anxious to do anything about it as it might upset the guests. Anyway, after the 26th August, the problem did subside slightly but this was obviously due to the departure of many guests.

The swimming pool was another issue – all our swimwear turned green due to the industrial strength chlorine, the tiles on the bottom of the pool were also coming off (a problem we encountered last year) and were quite sharp.

The food was amazing – something for everyone and a steady flow of pasta dishes everyday to keep the kids happy! The restaurant staff although very nice and obviously very busy, were not always very attentive and on two occasions we had to wait for over ½ hour for our drinks (we had almost finished our dinner by this time!) and in the mornings we quite often had to clear our own tables.
The seating in the dining area also does not meet the needs of the hotel during its’ busy time – quite often we had to wait to be seated which then left us very little time to eat before they started winding the restaurant down which closes at 9pm – way too early and so we always felt rushed!

The animation team seemed to have got it right – they were not too pushy and there was just enough entertainment.

Things the hotel could address (particularly during peak season):
Sun bed situation – listen to your staff – they have some good ideas as to how to overcome this problem during the busy months.
Swimming Pool - around the back of the hotel there are additional hotel rooms and the animation area which is just crying out for another swimming pool to be added which would stop the hotel’s sun bed problem straight away and make the hotel even more attractive to guests!!
Restaurant seating – get more seating during the height of the season or keep the restaurant open later to avoid bottle necking of guests!
Chlorine – a little less perhaps?!

So, we went back at the end of September and you would have never believed this was the same hotel! We had an amazing time, it was peaceful, relaxed and most of all you did not have to wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve a sun bed or indeed queue for a table! Admittedly there were far fewer guests, but the whole vibe was different and the hotel did seem to be catering more for the mature guest. I have to praise the hotel for managing to transform itself in such a way – without a hint of an identity crisis!
We stayed in an Executive Suite – big and spacious and apart from arriving back to the room one night to find a camera crew on our balcony it was a fantastic room. I can imagine though during the peak holiday period a tad noisy – you can hear the guests in the reception area!

Staff were friendly, especially the Manager, Fotis (who is a constant presence in the hotel and very willing to talk to the guests), Andreas (bar) and Katarina (reception) – they do this hotel proud.

I am glad we went back in September as it made us appreciate more what a wonderful hotel this is. The only (big) things that are putting us off returning for our main family holiday next year is the sun bed and restaurant situation during the peak season. If we could be reassured that this is going to be addressed you could guarantee we would return for many years to come.
