“Best place to stay in Moalbaol”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

Had the most amazing time at Blue Orchid and can't recommend it highly enough. Shannon (who is one of EIGHT) and Matt will make you feel so at home from the moment you arrive. And although every room had filled by the end of our stay, they treated each of us as though we were their only guests. And as first time scuba divers, we feel so lucky that our discover dive was at Blue Orchid - the whole experience was so relaxed and personalized to us. If you're at all anxious or unsure if you want to try diving, this is the place to do it. They will (literally) hold your hand through every step and ease any leftover nerves. I could go on, but the point is, we loved our time here and know you will too!

We are so glad that you guys enjoyed your stay here with us! Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to write such a nice review. Shannon and I both love teaching people how to dive so we take a lot of pride in doing it well. It is nice to know that you enjoyed this experience and we hope to see you both again, hopefully next time as certified divers so we can enjoy some fun diving on our beautiful coral reefs here in Moalboal :)

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Blue Orchid. This small "resort" is built with respect of the nature surrounding it. The rooms are gorgeous, enormous and clean. The sandy beach is just a short walk away and you can snorkel or dive right in front of the Orchid amongst the most beautiful coral reef we have seen on our many trips. We saw so many different fish, plants, colours, turtles... To make things easier to guests and to help preserve the reef, they built an underwater pathway that leads from the Orchid to the reef. The staff is helpful and welcoming. The food is good but a bit pricey so we preferred to go eat at Club Serena which had a better menu, a beautiful restaurant and fantastic prices. We got a chance to meet the owner of the Orchid and chatted a lot with him. He gave us a free upgrade to a deluxe room which we appreciated. We also took our first diving lesson with Dino and it was the highlight of our trip. Dino was very professional, patient and fun. We fell in love with the sport!
Un petit paradis naturel le long d'un magnifique récif de corail! Parfait pour la plongée. Bonne bouffe et superbe chambre. Merci Dino pour ton cours de plongée que nous avons adoré!

Hi guys,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about our little piece of paradise, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us.
Scuba diving is a fantastic sport and it is so nice to know that with Instructor Dino's help you have fallen in love with it.
We would also like you to know that, after receiving your feed back and others in regards to our restaurant and meals, we are just getting ready to release our new menu with a much larger choice of meals and pricing. We thank you for letting us know about this, as we are always looking for ways to improve the standards of service to our guests for a more unforgettable holiday.

Kind regards
Management

We came as a group of 4 to this bueatiful little resort. Is is quietly located with a beautiful view over the sea. There are little gazebos where you can relax and even have your meals overlooking the ocean.
The service is great and everyone is really friendly. The whole team was very accomodating also regarding special requests.
It is some minutes drive from Moalboal but the hotel can arrange transport.
The only downsides were that the WiFi connection wasnt great and that swimming can be a bit tricky at the resort

I have been here with my family (5 of us).
The staff is amazingly nice.
2 new managers started that week and they are great. They have both a very high level in diving (instructors for instructors...).
We had the chance to met the owner as well, he is very friendly and we had a great time talking with him and hearing his stories and experiences he had before he decided to open this resort ( he is a former aikido champion...!)
Besides the amazing staff, the resort is great too. You have a nice pool, good food, the rooms are cleaned and well maintained, and the location is 5 minutes away by foot to the white sand beach. At night you can ask for a tricycle and they drive you back and forth to the bars and restaurants area near Moalboal.
Divers this is a great spot...! you have 3 diving instructors, and with the 2 new managers in place it will get better and better for sure.
Non divers you can have a great time too, you take your snorkeling equipment and can go from the resort to the coral reef directly (there is a path in the sea going from the resort to the reef).
We snorkeled every day from the white beach to the resort and every time we saw at least one sea turtle, lion fishes, etc... We even spotted a leopard ray once...!
I defintely recommend it :)

The staff were great. Always pleasant. Always helpful. The managers in particular really went above and beyond. The canyon tour was a highlight. Wifi was consistent. We also heard great reports from other guests about the massages - it was a pity we ran out of time to experience this for ourselves. Hope to return here in the future.

The hotel has only few rooms scattered next to the ocean. There is not much to do other than snorkeling, diving or relaxing... which is a good thing. Small sandy area on the shore acts as a beach. Within a short walk (or swim) on the ocean there is an excellent reef for snorkeling. The rooms are basic and clean and most have good seaview. The staff could have a bit more attention to details though. Sun chairs and beds were dirty and not taken care of. Also the surroundings could use a little more upkeeping. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Only major issue we had with the hotel was that the restaurant was very overpriced especially considering the average quality of the food and drinks. The nearby Club Serena Resort has by far better food quality and selection for about half the price. It's strange that a high end hotel has cheaper food and drinks than a small place like Blue Orchid.

Luxury holiday! We spent 2 weeks here and it couldn't have been better. The diving and snorkelling just offshore was world class and they have their own professional dive shop. The resort fits in beautifully with its picturesque surroundings and each room has a brilliant seafront view. The kitchen serves a variety of delicious food and cocktails! We made so many friends here, a home away from home and we can't wait to go back. We have traveled to a lot of places in Asia and the Phillipines, but the Blue Orchid stands out above them all. There are a lot of trips organised from the resort. We particularly enjoyed swimming with whale sharks and canyoning! Thank you! Counting the days until we are back next year!
