“Magic indeed!!!!”

I just can't say enough about this resort. What a truly wonderful place to take your vacation. The diving is fantastic, the food is fresh, delicious and more then plentiful, but what sets this resort apart is the staff, who know you by your first name the minute that you set foot on the resort property. Weather permitting, dinner is often served ocean side......what a great way to wrap up your day...I will miss this so much. The entire property is 100% safe, clean and beautifully laid out and looks like a tropical paradise. If you're thinking about diving in the Philippines, stop looking and just go here!

From the moment my husband and I arrived at the resort it was just lovely. The staff was incredible and yes they almost immediately know your name. The food is delicious with incredible variety. The bar staff make a variety of delicious tropical drinks. The diving is wonderful and the dive staff very attentive. We were a group of 18 divers with a variety of physical needs, food restrictions and personalities and the staff as well as owners met each and everyone.

Room Tip: The bungalows poolside are away from the bar area and quieter.

Overall Magic Island Dive Resort was pretty good and a fun experience.

Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Food was pretty good (not amazing but good). Communal meals take place at 7:30pm but you can request a private table for any time if you like.

Bungalows were very nice, very clean and reasonably priced. Would have been nice if drinking water was replenished daily in our room.

Dive guides were pretty good (some much better than others as some swam off at times). The largest dive group we had was 3 divers to one guide which was super nice. Nice dive centre with good equipment, boats and drying facilities.

Sardine dive was quite murky and not easy to see (obviously not the resorts fault). Also saw lots of turtles, frog fish, sea snakes, mandarin fish in corals, plane wreck, nudiebranches.

Moalboal has great diving especially if you're into macro. The sardine run is special. The dive guides do a good job. The dive centre is spotless, faultless and run efficiently and safely by Jo and she knows the area well. In fact the whole resort is spotless and efficient, but It is expensive for Philippines. I missed not having a beach or anywhere to wander, sit and have a coffee/beer off resort. Feeling obliged to eat communally and at a set time did not suit me, but for divers on a short break wanting to chat and meet other divers it's perfect.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same layout (small bathrooms & small balconies) & none have proper sea vie...

We loved our time at Magic Island resort. Having had to change locations because of the Typhoon, we were glad they could fit us in. A small 10 room resort, staff know your name from the time you arrive.
We had the set menu each night for 995Php pp where we had some delicious food. Things that we would not have tried if not for the set menu, and we are glad we did. Also being allergic to certain foods, they substituted other things so I could still have some delicious food.
Cocktails looking out over the water whilst the sun set was absolutely beautiful. The massage/spa out right on the water was also really great.
The dive shop is professionally run, and diving was good. The sardine dive was great! Some of the spots are a little lacking, but on the whole, quite good.
The downsides are that it is probably a little overpriced for the Philippines, the bathroom was a bit small, and it is quite out of the way, meaning you have to travel into Moalboal for any variety in restaurants. But it was still a fantastic stay, and we would definitely return.

Once again the whole diving experience at Magic Island was faultless. All members of the team worked really hard to ensure that everyone had a very enjoyable time . The Dive Guides on the boats also did their very best to help find those bizarre critters that we so like looking at under the water . When back on shore the service was exemplary. It appears that nothing is too much trouble . The food is exquisite and yummy ! The beer was always chilled , my room was always clean. There is a buzz at Magic Island that makes your holiday great!
I just want to say thanks ! Thanks to everyone who wore a beautiful smile and had a laugh every day !
It was fantastic .

Room Tip: every room is as good as every other .

The resort itself is small, and built into the hill behind the coastline which gives it a somewhat cramped feeling, with a lot of concrete walk ways and nowhere really to go - this is inevitable given there is no beach to wander along at this location. The bungalow and bathroom sizes reflect this lack of space and the feeling is quite closed in. This isn't a resort for everyone. The food was fine - we went full board which oddly didn't include any mealtime drinks (full board may have been a mistake, not because of the quality of the food but because of the price guests paid for the buffet meals). Watch out for the pricey fruit juices! Water is freely available in refillable bottles which is sensible. The eating area is small with guests being encouraged to sit together to eat, and the staff are keen to be on first name terms which can feel intrusive.
The diving was Moal Boal as you would expect with the dive sites within easy reach from the resort. The dive centre itself is spotless, with plenty of space and they sometimes allow solo diving off the house reef. The efficient guides offer up pygmy seahorses, frog fish, orangutan crabs and other exotic creatures of the sea. Great! And the boat crew are friendly with tea and fruit offered during the surface intervals.
In my experience of the Philippines, and I stress this is a personal opinion which is basically what Trip Advisor reviews are, there are so called 'boutique' resorts in the Philippines that offer better value overall, and more soul in a more relaxed environment.
