Food here was impressive to say the least and if we hadn't spent the night as a nearby inferior manor house, we would have loved to stay here. They are just starting a major remodel and will be closing for 3 months. This should be an impressive remodel. The grounds are amazing and amazing food. We will be staying here in the future.

My friend and I spent two nights at Ashford Castle (would have stayed longer but couldn't afford it) in September/October. It was absolutely stunning and we only left the property once during our stay and quickly came back when we realized the town had minimal amount to offer. We were upgraded when we checked in to a suite which was lovely... until we got woken up early due to construction on the roof and then the hole in the bathroom ceiling with pieces of the roof falling in and seeing people walking on the roof. We called downstairs and the sent two different people up and eventually "took the room out of use." They felt really bad for us and gave us a different room ( a lot smaller but still very nice). We we checked out we were hoping they would comp us with something due to the inconvenience. When we got the bill nothing was comped so when they asked us how our stay was I very nicely and honestly said it was great and the falling of the ceiling just added to the adventure. They felt horrible as they didn't realize that anyone was actually in that room. They quickly took a good chunk off of our bill.
Besides that little incident which I highly doubt will ever have again, here is the biggest positive and the only disapointing aspect. Positive: you must do the falconry, there is absolutely nothing like it and it made our whole trip! The only semi dissapointing aspect was the food. There are two main dining areas (the drawing room is mainly for lunch). King George's is VERY expensive so never ate there. The other one is good but I wouldn't want to go there more then twice as there is not the big of a selection. Bottom line, if you ever go to Ireland stay at the Ashford Castle!

What a most impressive drive to the Castle. The grounds are simply amazing. We were warmly greeted by all of the staff. We felt so very special. They gave us a tour of the castle with a brief history, then showed us to our most beautiful spacious suite overlooking the gardens. The HH's and evenings with Irish music was most memorable. There is an hour long boat ride hosted by brothers Patrick and David which is well worth it. They are so informative and share their family experiences and history of the Castle. They are very entertaining to boot!! A must see!

Wow. A gorgeous castle in a quaint town. We enjoyed the falconry lesson and the boat ride offered by the castle. The breakfast served was also spectacular! If you have a chance, stay here for even just one night. It's fun to explore.

Wow! If you want to feel like royalty stay at this awesome castle. The castle itself and the grounds are simply breathtaking and gorgeous. We noticed a bagpiper greets some of the bus tours. We had room 401 which we thought was probably one of the best rooms in the entire hotel. We had a breathtaking view of the garden, fountain and directly in front we could see the Lough Corrib lake and river. The room is on the small side, but the bathroom was spacious. The bed was comfortable and the furnishings were lovely. There is a desk and two occasional chairs and we could get wifi. The plugs are both 220 and 110. The service is impeccable and everyone was so willing to please and accommodate especially at the front desk. Upon arrival, and waiting for our room, we had a delicious lunch in the “drawing room”. The first night we ate dinner at the casual restaurant across the bridge, Cullens Cottage, where the service and ambiance was not as we expected, however the food was tasty. We would not return nor recommend mainly because of the “indifferent” and poor service. We walked the grounds of the castle and took advantage of the peaceful feel, so we rested and read. One night we splurged and ate at the formal George V restaurant, in which the men need to wear jackets and the women dress up. The food was wonderful and delicious. It is completely “fine dining” with impeccable service. In the drawing room at night there is live Irish music with a wonderful pianist and a local singer who lets locals get up and sing. It is pretty much all Irish music which fits the atmosphere! Don't miss this. The breakfasts were buffet style, as well as the ability to order hot dishes in addition, which we did! It is a bit of a walk to the village of Cong, but worth it as it was very charming. At the hotel they offer many different things to do such as falconing, tennis, taking a boat ride out on the lake (two different times during the day), archery, nine holes of golf and horseback riding. We walked the entire grounds. I would certainly return and recommend this special place. It is difficult to describe the “feel” of it, but know you are stepping back in time where it is formal and lovely. If it were in the US we would make it a yearly visit.

Had a lovely time at Ashford Castle. What a beautiful building. Grounds are fab. Staff were very friendly and food at George V restaurant and Cullens was great. Did the falconry as suggested by other tripadvisors and we were not disappointed. Great experience and a must do. Also did the cruise on Inishfree and that is to be highly recommended. Great fun. We will be back as there is so much to do and see in the area.

What is there to say? its an 800 yr old Castle that makes every little girl's fairytale come true.
Breathtakingly beautiful location. The Staff of Ashford are beyond attentive and accomdating. The Castle is partially accessible to the disabled. I was in a wheelchair, however my room was not on an accessible floor. THis did not deter Yvonne and the staff however who just simply carried my wheelchair up the flight of steps to our room. Even though the room was not handicapped accessible the doorways were wide enough for my chair to fit through and the toilet was actually rather high for a regular toilet, I was able to use my walker to access the bathroom. There was broadband internet in the room and you didn't need to use a converter to charge phones, cameras, etct they had outlets that were already converted that all you had to do was plug in. Room was spacious with amazing view of Lough Corrib and the rear gardens. They were also very willing ot hold our luggage for us upon our check out as we were going to visit the grounds a bit more before leaving, and infact when we returned to fetch our luggage they had already loaded it in the car for us. We had dinner at Cullen's Cottage on the castle grounds which is a converted thatched roof cottage. Lots of ambiance and great food. Breakfast we dined in the main Dining room and it was amazing. My family and I felt like royalty being served amazing local fare
