The castle itself is lovely and worth a stay for 1 night. The afternoon tea itself is nothing special. Better stroll around or visit the falconry.

It was raining but we stopped to see what the castle was all about. The castle dates from the 1200's and has been expanded and renovated over the years. Had tea and biscuits and was not that expensive. Beautiful grounds to explore. Set a time to do the falcon experience but could not because of the heavy rain. As you exit into Cong stopped at the old abbey and walked those grounds. A must do on any trip. Unfortunitely the cost to stay at the castle was about $550/night so we passed but stayed at a nice B&B around the corner. (see Machaeleens review)

We had a great time exploring the grounds. Met some of the falcons raised there. Explored the Quiet Man cottage. Had lunch in the High tea room and explored the Castle. Was a beautiful experience in a beautiful place.

Had a great day exploring the grounds of Ashford castle and enjoyed an evening meal in the Cullens Cottage the views over the lough and looking at the castle really where spectacular, I would have like a round of golf on the course but didn't have time to fit it in. Hopefully on my next trip to Cong and the castle I will get to explore a little more.

We enjoyed a beautiful elegant but not stuffy high tea for 6. A great relaxing afternoon after walking in the area where the Quiet Man was filmed. Beautiful grounds and attentive staff.
