It's a little strange to find a hotel built in such a residential area, and some of our party were not impressed with the surroundings, however... if this hotel were built close to a city centre you would expect to paying a small fortune for it.

It feels rather small, very modern, while clearly in an old converted building which has retained many of the original features, adding a fresh, yet cosy style to it.

Check in was the fastest any hotel has ever provided me with and the girl was so friendly. I asked her when the pool closed and she whispered 'eh... you can use it anytime you want'. I instantly knew we'd made the right choice.

I would recommend asking whoever shows you to your room for a quick air conditioning demonstration, because none of us really understood how to control it, but I'm sure they would be happy to inform you.

Be prepared for mosquitoes at sunset by the pool.

Breakfast was limited, but nice. It felt like the hotel was trying very hard to provide everything it could considering it's on the small side.

One tip... there's a Pizzeria as you leave the hotel and turn right, just a 2 minute walk to the end of the road (as well as a cash machine). The waitress there was SO friendly, trying her hardest with English and even offering her own cigarettes for free when one of our group asked if there was a place to buy them nearby. While we were sitting there, I noticed she once delivered a pizza to the hotel, which would have been a nicer option because the room interiors would certainly have been a nicer place to eat than beside the road.

So... top marks for the hotel itself. I wasn't overwhelmed by the suburban feel of the area, but that was my own fault for not researching more thoroughly before booking.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floors will have beautiful ceilings with exposed roof beams.

Though the surroundings may not be perfect, Villa Solaris is a beautiful place to be. An old villa, carefully restored and transformed into a relatively small hotel that breathes harmony and distinction. Staff generally seems related, they offer personal attention, are very polite and adequate, one of the (2) owners often can be found at reception during the day. Spacious (design) rooms and suites, agreeable swimmingpool. Practical place to stay when you plan to visit (daily trips) Vicenza, Verona, Venezia, Padova and/or Bassano. Be sure to visit Cittadella (5 km) and Monte Grappa. Pricing very affordable. Dog-friendly.

We stayed here the night of a Santana concert at the Anfiteatro Camerini which is a 20-minute drive away. In the middle of nowhere in a small village, but what a treat - very nice and helpful staff, great hotel and grounds, well appointed rooms and a luxurious breakfast. Plus a great starting point for our Dolomites roadtrip the following day! The firm beds deserve a special mention.
