We stayed in les Charmettes for two weeks with two 15 year olds. The site is huge and has plenty of facilities onsite - bike hire, well stocked supermarket (with extremely pleasant staff), ticket office, takeaway, restaurant, bar, laundry, etc. Our 15yr olds enjoyed the entertainment. However there were a number of issues which we were not happy with.
As previously stated by other reviewers the areas around the pool were absolutely packed. We went down one day & spent 10 minutes in the jacuzzi and left. We didn't go to the pool area any more after that as it was ridiculously packed.
In most other sites we have stayed in there is no movement of traffic on the site after a particular time (usually either 10pm or 11pm) and any cars returning after that time would have to park in a parking area outside the site. This was not the case in les charmettes and there was traffic on the site well into the night. As our mobile home was just in line with one of the roads this did not make for very peaceful sleep (especially if you had to sleep with the window open on warm nights).
The lights which line the driveway up to the barriers of les charmettes were never lit. The area leading up to the site was dark. The night we arrived we found it difficult to find the site in the dark. Had these lights been lit we would have had no problem. Also with so many people on bicycles returning to the site at night it would have been much safer if these lights were on particularly at about 9.30-10pm at night when people were returning after an evening cycle.
Both the recycling and rubbish bins closest to our mobile were both full for three days in a row when I went to them. In such heat I felt three days was an unreasonable duration not to have them emptied.
Luna Park, which is directly behind the site, creates quite a lot of noise irrespective of where you are on the site. Reasonable enough up to midnight but it went on well past 1pm most nights.
Wifi codes could be obtained from the bar staff. You would grow a beard waiting for it to connect. Any time we attempted to we eventually just gave up on it.
All in all it was a "reasonably good" site but I don't think we will be returning. However we certainly will return to La Palmyre. It is a truly beautiful area, a beautiful cycle area along the beach not to talk about the beautiful runs I had every morning through the forest. Very bicycle friendly area and just a lovely cycle into la Palmyre either through the forest or via the road (which had its own cycle ways the whole way in)

Just back from Les Charmettes. We traveled with 3 children aged 11,7 and 2. All in all we had a great holiday and would really recommend Les Charmettes. It's a huge site with 1000+ mobiles but it doesn't feel so big as the mobiles are situated in small circles of 8 to 10 homes. Yes the pools are busy but we always got a bed even if you had to wait a few minutes. The SIBLU team do a great job from the lifeguards to the entertainment team who really put in the hours with kids club by day and great entertainment at night. The kids loved the Californian Christmas party night! The on site Proxi supermarket has everything you need for day to day and the staff wee so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the nearby Indian Forest park and the kids really enjoyed our day trip to the Aquarium in La Rochelle. We had a great family holiday with memory's that will last a lifetime!

I must start by absolutely agreeing with a previous review of the site(GMCTYPHOON). Having been to Les Charmettes for 8 out of the last 10 years I have seen a dramatic change in the park as a whole( or maybe lack of change). As their flagship site, I have to say that I am disappointed with the lack of change or innovation. Granted people will say that "if something's not broke don't fix it". However the park is a lot busier now it seems, meaning the complex and pool are too overcrowded midweek. The swimming pool has and always will be busy, but some extra beds and chairs should be made available considering the cost of gaining entry to the complex.
The maintenance and upkeep of the park seems to be put to the bottom of the 'to do' list. A lot of the paintwork on buildings and roadways seems to be neglected. The toilets in the bar/restaurant area are in an awful state. The issue of hygiene in these toilets have been seriously neglected not just this year but in previous years. Something seriously needs to done before somebody is ill.
The security has been really lax this year. We also had parts robbed off bikes and also one of our family had a bike robbed directly outside the complex. Apparently quite a number of bikes were stolen from around the site. Being told that this happens all the time is just not good enough.
Most staff on the site(Pool, Reception, Maintenance and Proxi) were very friendly and helpful. However this year we found some of the Pub staff very unhelpful and grumpy. There seemed to be a problem with getting ice for certain drinks and children getting straws for their drinks and the staff told you in no uncertain terms, that was the case. As a holiday resort and warm destination being told ice and straws are for cocktails only is not good enough. The bar management really needs to look at itself and try and use the facilities they have in a better manner.
I know these maybe small issues in the grand scheme of things but I think Siblu could and should do better. Many of the flagship companies around the world are constantly changing, innovating and trying new things. It is a business and businesses need to make money but I thing changes(small changes is all) need to be made to attract new clients. This is a good site but it could easily be a great site in a wonderful and beautiful part of France. The area is so laid back, perfect for a holiday. However, as a Family of nearly 30 who have been regular visitors for more than ten years, only half will return next year. They feel nothing has changed and never will.
