A typical European Zoo, went with my family, a little disappointed that some of the animals in too small cages. Vast area so make sure you wear good walking shoes! We took picnic so no need for food but did notice long queues for food. Plentiful ice cream stands. Toilets of the usual French variety so I tried to avoid them! Nice area for petting goats, but no hand washing so make sure you have wipes. One of my boys also managed to pet the Zebras! Parking is tricky as sooo busy, apparently the petit train goes from outside the office de tourism e in centre commercial, La Palmyre, there's more parking there so if you don't fancy circling for hours try that! You can also get the Petit Train from some of the campsites.

Yes, it's the busiest time of the year, esp in France but boy were we shocked at how crowded it was - we couldn't turn back as we had bought pre-paid tickets. We had to park 1km away. Had to queue 45 mins before the seals show to get a seat... crazy day - they let way too many visitors in.

This is an excellent zoo with a wide range of animals including giraffes to hand feed, Asian elephants, lots of big cats and big variety of primates. Unexpected were polar bears - in an impressive and huge brand new enclosure. The big African mammals had very large enclosures / paddocks and many could be touched or got really close to. It's a little hilly to push a wheelchair around but achievable and everything can be accessed OK. Reasonable entry cost, particularly considering the large number / variety of animals (cheaper than equivalent zoos in UK). We went on a hot August day and whilst the parking was exceptionally busy, we found some and there were no queues to get in; whilst very busy there was good access around the zoo and no problem to see the animals.

Wow - 17 euros for a day out that was fantastic - if you have walked passed and think it doesn't look very big form the front it is huge inside and you can easily spend the whole day there. Lots of animals to see - zoo fantastically laid out with large enclosures and environments obviously designed for each animal. Signs telling you if an enclosure contains any babies and when they were born. Wonderfully impressed with how healthy all the animals looked and could not believe how clean all the enclosures where!! Polar bear pool cleaner than many hotel pools I have seen! You can feed the animals if you want to - popcorn sold at entrance, except the monkeys which they ask you not to (there are reminder signs as you get to the monkey area too). Great to feed the giraffes and the elephants and alpacas and get pictures of this too. Information boards in French and English about each animal. We were there on a busy peak season day but no queuing for anything (except the inevitable short queue for the ladies toilet but there are several throughout the site so this was not too bad) and no jostling. Because the animal enclosures are large and designed to be seen from different angles there is room for everyone. Lovely sea lion show (no extra charges for this or the parrot show - didn't stop for the parrot show this time but still remember it from when I visited as a child!). We didn't use them but there are lots of places to get sandwiches and snacks from; there are chilled drinks machine points too so if you just want a water or juice no need to queue with people having food and we saw quite a few people who had brought their own snacks in to enjoy too. There is a lot of parking near this area in La Palmyre but it does inevitably get full up because people are using it to visit the town the zoo and the lovely beaches - a lot of people use this road for all three things rather than driving round to beaches etc so it can get busy but we have always found a space, or parked and walked a little on nice days, or cycled if you have bikes. Worth the wait anyway if you do get caught up! This is a great zoo - a recent visit to London Zoo Lates which was extremely disappointing only served to emphasise how brilliant this place is.
