Even though they call themselves a boutique hotel, this a private home converted to a B&B. It is a large house near (across the street from) the water. No doubt it occupied a prime location when first built, but it is now sadly nearly surrounded by high rise apartment buildings. We checked out five of the rooms and they vary widely, although they were all comfortable. The top picks are the the two second floor rooms with views of the water, with the one called "Pacific View" being the nicer. The other top floor rooms have a view to the front yard/garden and street. The ground floor "suite" is one room with the same garden view. Breakfast was served poolside and consisted of fruit (pineapple or watermelon), juice, rolls and a hot dish (eggs or shrimp) and coffee. Ask for the yucca "bread" - wonderfully light and tasty puffs. The pool is ample and well kept and to us was preferable to the Bahia beach. The beds were good albeit not great and the bathrooms very nice, although only liquid soap was provided (no shampoo). The service was friendly and attentive. Our only complaint was that the reservation process was somewhat disorganized and frustrating - perhaps to be expected in a B&B where there are no full time reservation agents available. Not only was it difficult to communicate (and we speak fluent Spanish), but the reservation was not fully honored as originally made. This snafu notwithstanding, we very much enjoyed our four night stay at Casa Grande and would not hestitate to recommend it.

Room Tip: Get the Pacific View room.

The place is a nice as it looks but the beach front photos are very miss leading, you can not just walk outside to a private beach as they are showing. The beach they show is not in Bahia. and the the light house beach you need to walk around a couple of blocks crossing a road to arrive which was a windy beach. better to go the Chone beach, where there is sand and palm trees,, but all and all a nice place.

I had the great privelege to stay at Casa Grande for a week in March of 2013. The hotel is stunningly beautiful - small enough to feel charming and cozy, but large enough to give space, privacy, and elegance. The pictures on Trip Advisor are representative of ow it actually feels! The courtyard and pool area gave the privacy and security for casual lounging nestled in the gardens. The location couldn't be beat - the hotel is located right on the most picturesque part of the beach, with climbing rocks and navigational lights that drew much of the local crowds for the day on the water. The breakfasts each morning were delightful - great fooods and great variety lovingly prepared and served poolside with the sound of the surf in the background. The room was comfortabe, neat, and well appointed. I look forward to returning soon (hopefully later this year!)

Room Tip: I stayed in the double room overlooking the ocean. It had its own veranda with a hammock (which was perfect for afternoon Siestas while listening to the surf)

We stayed in this hotel in dec 12 and were very disappointed after the reviews we had read. There was no-one around to ask for info when we arrived, no written info in the room to explain what the services were, times for breakfat etc. (The breakfast was very nice, though) We had to rely on information from the other guests. The shower was cold and basically the place was over priced for what we got. The other property Chirije was interesting but no-one could speak English and we were the only guests . We were provided with a guide- unasked for- and then expected to pay for him. He was a delightful guy but also limited English. We did get a small reduction for the second place as there was no hot water there either. Patricio was big on story and light on detail.

We stayed at Casa Grande for a week in October. It was a little tough to find but once there we were welcomed as if though we were family! The house is amazing and the weather was comfortable all week. We did not swim in the pool but it sure looked inviting. Breakfast was served every day and there were plenty of places to eat in town. Patricio assisted us when ever we needed it and his right hand woman, Sara, was a gem. We were able to go to Chirjie and the ride on the beach was fantastic... a first for me!
Beds were comfy and we always had a warm shower!

Could not ask for anything more.. thank you!
