I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and returned recently. The hotel is situated in the center of a seaside town. The town is very peaceful and is not to be recommended for anybody that would like to experience any sort of nightlife. You have to go to Tropea for that. (13 km, public transportation runs extremely rarely and it is impossible to return late at night).
The hotel is located in a nice residence of the 17th century. It has been recently tastefully renovated and the rooms are clean. That's about all the positive feedback that can be given about my stay at the "Hotel Palazzo Marzano".
-The wireless LAN that is apparently offered free of charge in public areas, does not work. If you want to use their business center (a computer next to the reception) and you are willing to use their fast speed internet connection where you have to wait 15 minutes for your hotmail account to load, this will be your only option.
-The safe that is apparently offered in the rooms was either hidden so well that we couldnt find it or it is simply not there(more likely)
-Refrain from eating anything in the rooms so you better finish your chewing gums before entering your room. We were told off by the staff since they found a peace of watermelon (on a plate) in our room. This apparently seriously damages the furniture.
-The swimming pool is not the size to be considered an actual swimming pool.
-For breakfast, I would suggest a coffee at the main square. The breakfast of the Palazzo Marzano does not offer much more than that, a coffee, anyway.
-Last but not least, guard your hotel card (which is just one of those hotel cards that are used everywhere nowadays) as if it was your home key. They will not be replaced for free (basically always the case in hotels) or at a small charge (rarely) but you will be charged the cost in Euros of an extra night for one person.
