“Magnificent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2012

You'll need a car - this is well off the beaten track - and only a few rooms. However the hotel is beautiful - the scenerey spectacular (the sunset over the hills whilst eating locally sourced and wonderfully prepared food made this truly memorable).
Don't bother to research the area the owner has more local knowledge than you will ever need - and she is more than happy to share it - suggesting places and routes.
Magnificent.

My husband and I and another couple had the pleasure of staying with Susanna at Locanda Le Boscarecce for 4 nights at the beginning of October and it was better than anything we could have hoped for. She arranged a driver to pick us up at the Florence airport and met us at the gate when we arrived. She arranged a driver for us each of the days we stayed with her to take us to all the little towns around Tuscany. The drivers were awesome...shout out to Biagio! Each day, Susanna gave us a map of the city and pointed out different points of interest. Each evening, Susanna had a delicious dinner prepared for us and of course a wonderful breakfast each morning. We really felt taken care of by Susanna and Julian, the waiter/bartender.The room was spacious and well-appointed and we were very comfortable there. I would highly recommend anyone who is visiting Tuscany to stay here! Can't wait to return!

We had the pleasure of spending four nights here during our group trip to Tuscany and the hotel represents my vision of what a Tuscan Villa should be. Breathtaking views of the Tuscan Hills are just the beginning. Our Hostess, Suzanna, met us at the front gate on our arrival and we felt like we were at home for the rest of our stay. We spent one afternoon cooking under her guidance and then got to eat the meal we prepared. The hotel is very remote, and difficult to get to as access is a single lane road that is uphill and downhill, but the trip is worth it. It will be hard to leave today, but we will have lots of memories.

The short version! Locanda Le Boscarrece fulfilled all of our requirements for a small, intimate countryside B & B without a minimum nights stay requirement. Views (spectacular), nice room with private bath and air conditioning, breakfast with eggs and/or meats and hot tea, WiFi (it was free and strong), easy access to Firenze and within easy driving distance of major tourist sights/towns. The personalized travel service, great Tuscan food, an on site bar, the professional appearance and conduct of the staff, the warm welcoming atmosphere, were all unexpected bonuses. If you want to experience Tuscany, stay here!!!

The long version –

Serene, quiet, peaceful. These are 3 great words to describe our very recent stay at Locanda Le Boscarecce. We checked in here at the tail end of our trip through Italy. It was the end of August (2012) and we had tolerated well heat (up to 38C) and congestion of Venice and Firenze. We were looking forward to getting away from it all and checking into the hilltop B&B/Country Inn that had come so highly recommended on Trip Advisor. Upon checking in and throughout our stay we were not disappointed once. The views were awesome, the service excellent and hospitality exceptional! The Trip Advisor reviews and photos were spot on! We highly recommend Locanda Le Boscarecce!!!

We had wanted to experience Tuscany and this B & B with its surrounding hills, towns and cities fulfilled our wish. We arrived by car following the detailed instructions Susanna, the owner, had provided. We were greeted by Susanna, shown to our rooms to settle in and then given a tour. Since it was early afternoon, Susanna recommended we start exploring. She sat us down, asked what we were interested in seeing and doing and then pulled out a map of the area of interest. She marked out a route, circling stops with annotations of important highlights and provided great driving instructions. She finished up with “now go have fun and get lost, it’s the best way to see Italy”. She was right! We did have fun and we did get lost. A quick call to Suzanna and we were back on track.

We’d start our mornings with a buffet breakfast (included with the cost of the room). Unlike the typical Italian continental style breakfast, the buffet included eggs, meats, fresh fruit, cereals, juices coffee, tea, milk yogurt, rolls and more. You could easily fill up for your busy day of sightseeing ahead. We’d also check out the dinner menu that Susanna would post each morning to see if we wanted to eat at the on site restaurant* or go somewhere else. We’d then join Susanna in her office for her insight on our itinerary for the day. She proved to be travel agent /tour guide extraordinaire and extremely knowledgeable on the art and history of Tuscany. Our conversations were always lively and fun!

The location of Le Boscarrece proved to be ideal. Sienna, Greve in Chianti, Castellina in Chianti, San Gimignano, Volterra, Vinci, and more were all within easy driving distance. Though it was August and the growing season was well over, the countryside was still spectacular. Hilltop after hilltop offered something new to see whether it was a castle, abbey, or vineyards.

In summary Locanda Le Boscarrece fulfilled all of our requirements for a small, intimate countryside B & B without a minimum nights stay requirement.

Thanks Susanna for a memorable stay in Tuscany!!!

*Dinner - Guests are given until 1 PM to RSVP for a three or four course dinner. This allows guests time to sightsee a bit and see how their day is playing out while on the road. A quick phone call to Susanna and you could be on the list for dinner that night. Guests are asked to arrive between 7:30 and 8:30 PM for dinner. Most nights, we’d time our return to be back by 8 PM so we could enjoy a nice leisurely dinner with a local wine and spectacular views from the dining patio. The sun would set as we dined and we would often finish our last course close to 10PM. It was truly a nice way to unwind from a busy day of sightseeing - exceptional food made with fresh local ingredients, mostly organic and truly representative of Tuscan cuisine plus great wine and good conversation!!!

A few favorite dishes – vegetable lasagna, succulent pork, zucchini risotto, a tuna antipasto… wishing I was there again!!!

My stay at Le Boscarecce was wonderful, and it was all due to Susanna and her staff. Susanna is there to tend to your every need, be it directions or day trip ideas or gelateria recommendations. Susanna not only runs the hotel, but also cooks the nightly dinners (available six nights/week) that you must not miss. You may be skeptical of the descriptions of the dishes, but trust me when I say this is homemade Tuscan food at its best. Superb and affordable wine selection as well.
Imagine being invited to a family friend's Tuscan home, and you'll have some idea of the atmosphere.
I cannot wait to go back.

Our first trip to Tuscany was unplanned with no itinerary planned. The hotel is what I referred to a country retreat where you can relax in the sun, play tennis, enjoy a glass of local wine on the terrace or wander though the fragrant grounds and olive grove and enjoy the fantastic sun sets.
Located in a remote and quiet setting approx 3 km from Castelfiorentino it is easy to reach. Rooms were in a typical Tuscan style which was beautiful and relaxing, The staff are all friendly and accommodating and Susanna was charming, beautiful, funny and extremely generous with her time to suggest places to visits, maps and routes, tickets etc. She was the reason our holiday was so wonderful.

Thank you x

It was my first time at Le Boscareece and it certainly won't be my last! Everyone has their own image of what it would be like to stay in Tuscany and this setting meets everyone's expectations. Great views, wonderful gardens, rolling hills filled with olive trees and vineyards! For those who would like to exercise and have fun at the resort there is a tennis court and swimming pool. But the best is yet to come. The food is extraordinary. Very simple food done to absolute perfection by Susanna. Wonderful wine selection. It may be one of the most romantic places to dine that I have seen. Imagine sitting outside, eating some of the best food you've ever eaten, while watching the sunset over the Tuscan hills. And thats not all. Service was extraordinary. Susanna will help you plan your days activities, give you directions there, tell you where to park and where to shop. I really don't think you'll find a more wonderful and helpful staff than at Le Boscarecce! I can't wait to get back.

Room Tip: The corner suites provide loads of space.
